Has anyone else English living in the Celtic countries (for the uninitiated, Wales, Scotland and Ireland) noticed an intense hatrid of the English and racism that would never be tolerated were it against any other group? For instance, in South Wales, where no-one speaks Welsh, lots of jobs stipulate that you must be able to speak Welsh. This seems a way of keeping the English out of jobs. The Welsh language lobby there are sadly pretty damn rampant and have a lot of power within governmental institutions and the likes of the WDA. This movement and the Nationalists like Plaid Cymru are just a bunch of racist bigoted idiots, and it is appalling. It is also one-wat enforced.

Yeah, but that cookie cuts both ways. Some of the cruelest accent based mocking i have seen is directed at people with 'posh' accents (with working class cockneyesque or other accents being seen as cooler since the sixties). if i hear a cockney accent or geordie accent i just don't think its kool (well no one does in this region)

My last English teacher sometimes cursed at his students . My science teacher swears (well my old one, i left school)

Portugal should of got a penalty. Also Greece got away with alot of fouls. I've seen collini (the ref) in many matches but hes gettin worse and worse. He performed absolutly crap when Real Madrid was in the Champions League. Hopefully Spain and Portugal will both get through.

Heh, swapping one set of 'rulers' in London for a new set in Brussels, eh? Well, not really.... I believe Scotland needs it's own say in Europe. Some of the decisions taken by the UK government at European level haven't be suitable for Scotland (Fishing and immigration policy for example). As for why i vote for the SNP? Well, Scotland should be one of Europes richest countries (extensive natural resources, excellent education system and institutions etc.), yet our population is shrinking, have high levels of poverty, and we're the most unhealthy country in Europe  As has always been the case, the brightest and best have to leave to find success. There's an endemic confidence problem up here, and it's going to take a lot of time and effort to reverse it...but i'm pretty certain that the answer is not further union with the UK. Doesn't Scotland have its own Parlimant?

Like denoir said, the MEP's have nothing to do with EU membership or Euro, so voting them won't cause us to leave the EU. Thats why i didn't say "Vote UKIP in you local council elections.
