1st question: Why are there different releasedates for Arma 2 ? 1st answer: Because there are different local agreements with publishers. 2nd question: There are rumours that there will be a patch to bring the german release version up to the same level as the international releases. 2nd answer: Arma 2 is a complex game...*snip*...therefore there are a number of issues... A patch will be released next week to bring Arma 2 to version 1.01. The patch will be about 70MB in size and according to german betatesters it makes a good impression. 3rd question: Why has Peter Games insisted on removing the PC Games article ? 3rd answer: The article had some kind of preview-taste and for fairness reasons towards other reviewing magazines we gently asked to alter the "Preview". 4th question: Is it a method of influencing buyers to insist on reviews published only after release ? 4th answer: It´s not our company principle to do such. We will not betray our customers. *snip* VERY roughly summed up...but basically there´s not more than that. They´re proposing an interview with BIS on the matter that also will be published today. -
The tires are just sunk into ground when shot upon until the tire dissapears completely when destroyed. You can see it in the album I linked to above.

Tested it yesterday and as I have somewhat a favour for old cars I used the oldest one offered. With settings on Pro it gives you quite a challenge and I don´t think that the physics of the car are that bad. In fact the car sometimes gave me a hard time with it´s rear-drive, the power and the bulkiness of the car. I liked it. You can swing the car from one corner into another with a constantly drifting car. That´s not that easy to achieve as you need to have precise control of the pedals but it works lovely once you´ve found the right points. The latest Volvo model is overdone in my opinion. It feels like driving on rails, no matter what you do. Not bad for a free advertising game though and I really like the idea of implementing older beasts aswell. (Dreaming of a followup to GT Legends, my alltime favourite simulator). You should play it with a wheel though.

The campaign seems to get unplayable after "Manhatten"-mission. As he´s still at the start of campaign he hasn´t run into the problems yet. Sorry, at PC games there were 3 testers testing the game while on the other hand we have one unverified tester who hasn´t made progress into the campaign. Be the judge. -

That wouldn´t change the legal situation unfortunally as the review platform still would be legally bound to the NDA. It were regular retail copies btw, 3 of them, installed on 3 different computers, all delivering the same results. Campaign basically isn´t unplayable because of the bugs from mission "Manhatten" according to reviewers. Of course I´m sceptical about the release now. Even if some people are only concerned about MP and most of the malfunctions appear to pop up in the SP campaign, I´m probably one of those who enjoy SP gaming alot and a non-functional campaign is certainly a stopper for me. Another technical deficits like the non-existing fuel consuption of tanks, the motorcycle malfunction (once grounded it can´t be used anymore) seem to be bugs that can hardly be debated away. Sure, I´ll be getting Arma 2, but I´m not confident that it´ll work fresh out of the box. -

Not really. It can also happen if mission.sqm or description.ext links to units, objects, etc that were used during the build of the game but got removed afterwards without removing the entries in the missionfiles. -

Testers have posted that the PC´s had no preview version of Arma 2 installed prior the installation of retail Arma 2. Game was installed on clean PC´s. This would explain the installation problems with missing files. Would be horror for customers, retailers and publisher. -

I guess people are simply worried as they really having high hopes for Arma 2 after the unfortunate Arma 1 release. The last thing people want to hear is again that history repeats itself again. There´s a lot of passion coming up so close to the german release. I guess a more moderate approach would be reasonable and more contributing to the discussion than instantly firing back on the reviewers. Keep a cool head. -

The got the beta-patch from PeterGames/Morphicon. The clearly say so on the page. Relax. They are highlighting bugs and express their dissapointment with the release-version. If the Morphicon-version really has the mentioned deficits you can already gear up for a storm of dissapointment from german customers. That´s life. BTW, I can´t see where the article is inflammatory. -

Nonsense. The onlineshop is shipping Arma 2 on friday... Lots of people are currently cancelling their preorders due to the PC-games article. Magazines are not allowed to post reviews of Arma2 before friday, but the PC-Games team decided to post the Bugwarning to give the people who wanted to buy the game on friday a chance to rethink their decision as the game is in a terrible shape. -

Why ? The error reports are detailed and the type of errors do suggest that they are not hardware-related as malfunctioning scripts, missing files and AI-deficits are something we ALL know from Arma 1. It does if you keep in mind that the campaign was not playable at the London 505 meeting....obviously for a reason... -

Summing up the mentioned bugs in the german release version according to PC Games: - gfx bugs - NPC´s stuck in walls - Popup-windows with error messages - not-working scripts in the campaign - AI units ruin campaign as they interfere with player missions and make it impossible to fulfill mission goals at times - bugged pathfinding sometimes makes it impossible to meet NPC´s needed for missions as the NPC´s are not where they are supposed to be but instead are wandering through the woods, lost with their own pathfinding routines - Missions are reported "failed", even if the player hasn´t even picked the mission yet. - At the start of scenarios popup-windows appear that indicate that files are missing. - Jeeps consume gasoline while tanks don´t... - Motorcycles that have fallen on the ground can´t be used again - Ingame performance on a Core2Duo @3,16 GHz, 3 GB RAM, Gerforce 8800 GTS 512 MB is not that satisfying. There are freezes during gaming. Summary: The campaign is unplayable in the current state, the bugs are all over the game. In their opinion it´s ashaming that Arma 2 gets released in this shape. It´s basically unplayable. They have been sent a beta-hotfix by the publisher but have not yet tested it yet. They are not optimistic that the number of bugs, errors and malfunctions can be cured with the tiny patch. This is a joke, right BIS ? -

Great preview. Thx for the effort both of you put into this. To be honest...I´m curious now :cancan: -
To be honest I am disturbed by the 505 statement This means that the german fullprice version for 49,99 Euro is once again a bugged and incomplete version of the game as it was with Arma 1. Besides the predictable bad reviews from german magazines this also means that the german customers once again get a version of the game that is not finished. To be honest: I feel cheated already as we will once more be doomed to be betatesters for BIS and a cashcow for the publisher and BIS while we don´t get a finished product. I thought BIS had learned from the experiences with Arma 1 where the same drama happened, but still they repeat the same stunt again with the premature release via Morphicon. We will be forced to download patch(es) just because BIS is not able to make reasonable contracts that guarantee a unified releaseversion for all customers while we have to pay full-price for an unfinished product. I´m not going ok with that attitude and I´ll be waiting for the first real reviews before I buy the game. This will save me from a bugged, incomplete game (it is obviously as a different version is already announced for 505 games) and certainly will not pay 50 Euro plus shipping for another public betatest.
