Latest ArmA2 & ArmA2:OA Press Coverage | NO discussion here!

What has all this Kindergarten-Fuzz to do with Arma 2 Press Coverage ? Maybe it would be a smart move to create a "Arma 2 - The upcoming demo" thread, later renamed to " Arma 2 - The demo" ? -

Could you pls provide a mission to validate that scientifically. Videos are not really proof for anything. We need a scientific approach to validate such claims Walker. -

No ragdoll and still the old, clumsy and timedelayed switching to death animation. Another thing that could have been made more faster and realistic imo. It´s still the same as with Arma, you shoot someone and it takes a while until the death animation kicks in which looks really odd at times as it did with Arma 1. -
Units not being placed where i put them
Balschoiw replied to toby23's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I guess it would help to read some editing tutorials first as you will run from problem into problem. Try this one: Mr. Murray Editing guide for Arma The basics for Arma 2 are the same as with Arma 1, so this tutorial should already help you alot. -
Playing around in editor I ran into some stuff I´d like to have confirmed: - animals can not be guided via WP´s ? (tested) - animals can not be grouped with "human" units ? (tested) - can you guide them via script with domove dofollow or such ? (untested) - can you make them shut up ? (hmm...where to start...) Sounds weird I know but it might be interesting if any of the above works.

If BIS wants a better rating they should have delivered a more bugfree and complete product than Arma 2 is/was when it hit the german shelves. Easy as that. Nitpicking about the reviewers won´t solve the problems Arma 2 has. -
Humbug. I was talking about germany, in case you have missed it. About the facts and the nazi-history the DDR has: - the DDR anti-facism-propaganda was a myth at best - 1951 the SED had 174.928 former NSDAP members and officers in their rows - a big number of undercover Stasi members were former Nazis - SED covered up the history of their members with a NSDAP record as they were usefull for their own operations. People who worked in concentration camps, gassing people were later on enlisted at the Stasi, as they were usefull for the apparatcik. - Knowledge about former NSDAP officers, responsible for crimes against humanity, that were living in west-germany was not shared with the west. Instead of that the knowledge was used to blackmail the people in question and to have them work for the SED. - People in the DDR who published lists of former NSDAP members were imprisoned, not decorated, as the SED claimed to have the only authority to decide wich Nazi is good for them (as a Stasi member or IM) and wich Nazi can be exploited for anti-western propaganda. - in the 1950´s the former NSDAP members in the SED were the second biggest fraction in the DDR "parliament". It was. There was public facism from the late 1970´s till the end of the DDR. Especially at football-matches there were big outbreaks of Nazis, Skinheads. You might want to check the criminal records of that time before you claim nonsense. This was an indirect result of the non-existing anti-nazi policy of the SED after the war. Their propaganda told everyone that they were condemning facism, while they collected Nazis under their umbrella to use them for their very own purposes. In short: It was a propaganda lie. But you like such lies, don´t you ?

Take a break from the Arma 2 release and relax for some good laughs. Audio: french Subtitles: English Link to movie Enjoy.

Good one. In fact the rise of national and ultranational groups in germany for example is a result and problem of the non-existant education on the 3rd Reich matters in the former DDR. Things like that simply were blinded out and an open debate about immigration problems in the former DDR was never possible because of the rigid governmental and Stasi control. So basically the communist regime is responsible for the rise in facism as they kept people uneducated on the issue. Get back onto your propaganda rocket and buzz off.

Server limitations (custom face, sounds) getting you kicked
Balschoiw replied to Alienfreak's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
A proper setup server will give you the limitations for custom sounds, faces, whatever right when you connect. Problem is that some dudes have a megabyte folder for sounds and faces that are really heavy weight. The moment they connect with that stuff the content is transferred to the other players of the server. That´s why there is lag big time if some guy with a blown up custom folder connects. Most of the servers have a limit on custom files therefore and they are the ones to decide what´s ok , or what not. Anyone who has wittnessed a guy with an "out of proportion" custom user folder connecting to a server that has a game going on will understand what I mean. -
Mod to disable Motion Blur and Running Blur very needed
Balschoiw replied to Areon's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Kegetys, do you have any idea why the sky is flickering at times with the mod ? Apart from the flickering there´s nothing that doesn´t work perfectly right. I am very thankfull for this mod. No problems here :pet7: -

There´s no blur when running with the mod as far as I have seen up to now. Maybe you have TFT monitor ? -
ArmA II & OA Photography I - No images over 100kb - Pictures only NO comments.

Testing Kegetys NoBlur - Mod: Very good thing to remove Blur and optionally Bloom effect from postprocessing. Noticeable rise in performance comes along with the mod aswell and allowed me to set fillrate to 150 percent and other setting to very high, except shadows :) Check out Kegetys message with Download-link here. -
Complaints about DOF/Blur/Bloom/HDR/Cholesterol etc.etc.
Balschoiw replied to freeman23's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Kegetys just posted his mod to disable Bloom and Blur. Download here. Just tested it and it works like a charm. I sometimes have the impression that the sky is flickering, but I guess it was there before. With the mod I am playing on all setting "very high" now and have set my fillrate to 150 percent without problems. Need to do more testing though but the performance rise is really remarkable and the blur is gone. Still...there are gun optics that have the blurry look. This should be fixed by BIS. I like the mod Keg has made and I guess something like this would really fit well for Arma 2 if it is included by BIS within a patch. As I said, there is a real rise ion performance with the mod and it looks crisp. Thanks Keg ! You should set up a thread in Addons/Mods complete to spread the word. -

What took you so long Keg ? Thx ! -
I guess that´s not true. It´s not a bug, it´s a feature and afaik it is in Arma 1 (patched) and in Arma 2 for the same reason(s).

Server limitations (custom face, sounds) getting you kicked
Balschoiw replied to Alienfreak's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Custom sounds are a no-go on most servers anyway, so you can get rid of them already. It´s annoying as hell most of the time and a waste of bandwidth for all. Custom faces most of the times have a size-limit. Check out the homepage of the ones who are running the server and read their server FAQ. -
Ummm...Arma 2 AI does cheat indeed. They can see through foliage again. Have experienced the bug on my own a couple of times now and it´s a known issue. You should sometimes just believe others who actually have/play the game.

@Placebo: Can we do the same thing as we did when Arma was released ? I´d gladly help again.

Grasscutter ? Has it vanished ?
Balschoiw posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Looking through the editor I was unable to find the grasscutter. Has it been forgotten for Arma 2 ? I already thought so when playing the campaign where some camps looked more like junglecamps than military ones. :) Has anyone found it, or am I just blind ? -
What does ARMA 2 have that Operation Flashpoint 2 doesn't?
Balschoiw replied to bloodbomb's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Healing serious injuries in Arma 2 takes a long time and it happened very often to me that the medic got shot during healing process. Those are the moments where you would like to have a suicide option as the only thing that you can do is waiting for death. It´s not like 1..2...3.. patched up, ready to go. Serious injuries are portrayed as such in Arma 2. It´s also interesting that I sometimes have the feeling that injuries can´t be healed 100 percent, represented by weapon sway after a serious injury that has been cured, but this could also be a wrong impression from me. About limbs. Incorporating such would put the game on cencorship in a lot of countries while it has nothing to offer for tactical gameplay. It´simply contained in some games to get media attention or attract infantile customers who think that things like that are sooo cool. I don´t need such in a "game" as I don´t see any value for such for the gaming experience. But this discussion is useless anyway. We´ve had it before and the result was the same every time. There are gore-hogs and there are war-hogs. :pet7:
