Didn't matter to me, I've had good luck with both Intel and AMD.I had a X2 4200+ a year ago and was pleased with its performance and I just wanted a deal. There was a good price on the 3.2ghz C2D but the MB types for it were expensive. And most of those MB's needed 1066mhz memory so a lil more cost there too. I know this 6400+ will be fine and I like to be different. Its only something I will use for a year or two, didn't want to spend a fortune

Real TANKs in arma (internal views)
BraTTy replied to Anunnaki's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I miss the interiors too, that was what mainly distinguished OFP from other games that called themselves simulators. It just gives that extra feeling. It is alot of work, but there is not as many vehicles in Arma compared to OFP -

Wait for some better comments but I can comment on past talk about the xbox conversion. I am unsure of PS3 specs but apparantly the reason for the Xbox conversion and not PS2 conversion were simple (I have a PS2 and so don't many many people I knew then) The PS2 had different processor and video, the Xbox has same as PC so they only had to rewrite some code to make it run better on less specs. So maybe thats your answer Until someone can comment with better knowledge

I could easily write you a whole list ! Its exciting hearing from members of these forums. Any of the regulars I'd like to hear about/from I remember many moons ago ,I read a text interview with Placebo and after that I thought, hey he's a regular person (lol) and likes similiar things as I do. So interviews with all the mods would be nice, start with Wolle cause I hardly know him and I'd like to see if he's normal (lol) and he's very active here.He seems kewl The CWR group is a very nice idea, they should have lots to talk about Of course interviews with any/all the devs are high on my list, don't even have to talk about Arma as that gets complicated as to what they can say (however please state what they do) Its interesting hearing about their dis/likes, their hometown and such Active modders is always interesting, usually leads to talking about their stuff and their outlook on Arma present/future Can be tricky, but of course I am interested in WW2 so: ATStWalker,Vilas,Mehman,Johnsart etc... Cheers and wb Jerry !

I can comment some. First of all I play Evolution sometimes quite often (hours at a time).I will have AI pilot for me and a game yesterday another user was shuttling people with AI chopper pilot.Out of the hundreds of times I have ridden with AI pilot only a few times they have crashed into the mountains. I am thinking... Are you playing single player ? Maybe your pc isn't powerfull enough to have good AI (you didn't list any specs or examples of errors in-use) You could try (are these your own SP missions?) Even if MP , select slightly different waypoints, try not to go over the bulk of the mountain, try a slightly different path (are they always happening in same spot?) You didn't give enough information

it has to be one of these, although the only controller attached is a playstation2 controller, ill have to have a look. Ahh well see you have a PS2 controller and when you enter a vehicle you would have to hold whichever analog is set to throttle all the way back so Its not giving half-throttle when you enter a vehicle Or calibrate so that dead center is zero throttle and back on the stick is reverse I have a wireless Gravis analog which is almost exactly a PS2 controller. I hardly ever use it

This topic will get moved/locked to offtopic as your referring to a game that Is made by someone else. OFP2 is Codemasters project , a different company Arma2 will be next for BIS

Ya ,well Durgs vegetation fix wouldn't fix new plants, grass and trees that would be needed for a new island

Need to find basic tutorials on editing
BraTTy replied to NKato's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Right, you could ask in the Bis Mission Editing - Scripting topics Also could look on Ofpec, they have better descriptions and samples http://www.ofpec.com/ed_depot/ -
Thank you Mondkalb ! I have wanted this back for a long time. Should have been included with Arma IMO Thank you for reworking it too I haven't tried it yet, but looking at the 2 yokes, does that mean the co-pilot can drive it too?
-
I agree that it did add atmosphere.I used the taunts often, pretty kewl. I still play BF:V on ocassion. If more people were playing I would play it more, it had some neet features. The taunts, radio in every vehicle(with awesome Vietnam Era music), gunning out of the back of choppers (grenades too),bouncing bettys and all Too bad, I used to work with a guy that was from Vietnam 10 years earlier. He already agreed to do some voiceovers for OFP for me.I can find him, hes not far away Would be nice to add some taunts to Arma VTE

JOHNsArT.. bummer on the config, altho I was pretty good at OFP config'n. I haven't mastered Arma's yet.I tried a simple import of one of my addons and got confused. jojimbo... good to see you !! welcome, welcome, welcome

Then we have the problem to overcome that the AI would be able to see you through alot of the vegetation but you wouldn't be able to see them. An Island of this nature is alot of work, not just only the placing of objects but the required view lods to fix the AI xray problem. Of course I am very interested in an Island of this nature, fitting Pacific theme This sorta a request topic, I assumed it was an island in the works edit: to add.. if Bis were making a Vietnam addon ,I would prepay for something like this. Arma is well suited for Vietnam theme (asides the vegetation problem listed above)

Maybe have a button stuck on your keyboard (W?) Or a controller attached isn't calibrated or something resting on it?
-
And the chipset drivers like mentioned above (Chris Death)
-
Absolutely... you also can just pick English in the options of the game and it will be english (I play using German version)

Should i upgrade to ati radeon x 1650 pro 512 mb?
BraTTy replied to matthewdenn's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Needs to go in this topic : http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=52409 A 1650pro is an inexpensive minimal graphics card, would definately improve your system -
Interesting topic, very good posts by all If people were able to "walk up to soldiers with silenced weapon and shoot them and get away with it" Then users would be in these forums complaining the AI is too easy ! Its a lose-lose situation. Someone could script better AI reactions -If bullets comming from so and so direction and have a few variables for decisions - Shots fired , hide behind this or that building (someone would have to go through the whole map objects locations and size) - knowsabout 10 tanks in range and have no AT weapons to run or hide - being attacked, hide for a bit then search and destroy when enemy less suspicous But then a commander may have problems commanding his squad members in a military way (March across that field , NOW!...Negative

Silly you, you must be referring to "Evolution" which is a user made mission. Hardly any other mission plays that way (ranking) and its not a built-in BIS mission. Here's the proper topic : http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=68835 I can answer a few.... The Evolution mission does save your stats,as long as the same mission is still running and you join that same server again (could be several days as long as whole mission hasn't been completed or server hasn't crashed or reset) I like to find the Freshly started Evolution missions. Not all vehicles respawn back at base, so leaving the AI trick isn't necessary It could take 10 minutes for recieving mission to let-you-in. depending on how many players, trees down, vehicles damaged or various other things Also note that some Evolution servers have unlocked settings, in other words you might be able to use any weapon from start and some give you rank at first points Maybe a mod could just merge this post after starter reads

I have almost same machine too PIV 3.0G prescott socket 478 1 Gig DDR400 7600 GS 512m (agp aperature set at 256m) WinXP Home Must be his Win2k allowing the high settings and his soundcard Audigy must take more load off cpu I play with: Resolution: 1024x768 Viewdistance ~2000 meters Terrain detail: Normal Objects detail: Normal Texture detail: Normal Shading detail: Low Postprocess effects: Low Anisotropic filtering: Low Shadow detail. disabled Antialiasing: disabled Blood: High If I turn on shadow detail, or increase shading detail I notice a substantial performance drop, most other settings I can change to whatever I want

After some experience I can say I often get robbed of points usually when I repair a chopper, I try save them for last My tactic for repair... Be Engineer and get your own repair truck, drive near the broken down vehicle (in Veteran you won't see "your" own position on map and makes it tricky but adds some tactical surgery) Slap down a FARP near the broken vehicle, make sure you don't have a yellow or red chain showing (desync) otherwise you most likely won't get points for repair.Wait till the chain is gone before you start repairing Hop in the drivers seat (it prolly will kick you out if you don't have rank) then hop into usually gunners seat so you can defend while repair (endless ammo too) After the vehicle or during repair, if the vehicle is far from base, paratroop a AI to drive it to next frontline or back-to-base.But I am often too busy and just leave them where they are at. Hurry up and get back into your repair truck before it disappears (you only have so long), If you are repairing multiple vehicles near your FARP you must hop back into your repair truck after each repair (unless you leave an AI in it) I don't as I am more efficient driver than the AI Your FARP will stay at your last build spot, just leave it till you get to next vehicle, when you build a new FARP your old one disappears I can get max rank in a few hours this way
