cannot download from that awful site...instead of letting me download YOUR file it only wants me to download the iLivid downloader software viral crapolla....why not just open a free DropBox account and upload it there...its much simpler, more reliable and users wont have to worry about getting malware placed onto their systems?

The only method available to create enemy zones manually is the one described in the INIT, which assumes you have some prerequisite editing experience already...and even then it will not allow you to edit the mission in such a way where the mission will allow you to choose varying amounts of zones automatically each time you play through its regular menu interface. So, technically speaking there is no true menu/interface support for manual zone placement in DUWS currently (other than the HQ itself). Theoretically, you can use the editor, and edit the mission to build a zone according to the variables you tell it to use within its game logic that you have to place while in the editor, but then these variables cannot be changed again until you manually change them from within the editor. So again then...for those who do NOT want to always have to play in the editor constantly changing values back and forth and would rather just play normally using the default ways...NO, manually placing enemy zones is not supported in DUWS, nor in my Modified version either....but who knows, maybe in Arma4 :-) -
Whenever you mouse over one of the icons on the strategic map overlay the entire screen flickers (its reproducible on a blank mission in the editor)...is there a fix, and is BIS already aware of this?

Does anyone know if there's a way to get this to work on AI units in the players group which have spawned into the mission AFTER the script has initialized? (i.e. non-editor placed AI in your group). I'm attempting to add this to my Duws Modified mission, and it seems that when im wounded and fall my group AI will not respond to help me until the timer runs down and I die (you only hear a new leader being chosen and him giving the orders to revive me AFTER im dead) *EDIT - nevermind I was able to come up with a solution so it works now with script-spawned AI. Thanks so much for this, Psycho...I have mentioned you in the mission credits for this one, much appreciated!- 914 replies

hard to say without knowing and seeing your system in action...if you've followed all my steps (im guessing you havent though) and it didnt help then its most likely either a driver issue (game doesnt like your drivers or settings) or even hardware failure. I do not know your specs or anything about your system so there's noway I can say...other than make sure to first follow those steps I listed (do not be lazy, do it). Other than that I cant help you. -
Tonight it just started working for me suddenly, all by itself...I did nothing. I didn't notice any update so maybe the trouble isn't with the client stuff. I tried it several times earlier in the day and it was not working...but tonight for whatever reason it finally worked...I was able to start a normal MP in-game server and show up on the browser list and others were finally able to see it and join...NOTHING has changed on my end from earlier today either. So...im confused to say the least...but we'll see what tomorrow brings. BTW - got a hacker while running that server tonight...he was running around using the zeus lightning (which is not in the mission, no zeus at all) and then when I asked them to stop hacking they were apparently able to do a mission end...and that also crashed the game...to a blue screen no less (which I havent seen in many years, lol). Isnt there any anti cheat in arma3 these days, or is this also broken currently? If it's working then how do you enable it on an in-game hosted server?

you dont need to buy another copy...that isnt necessary or helpful. I'll assume you've rebooted your machine and it didn't help? Next, there are 3 more things to try. 1. Make certain that all your other games are NOT exhibiting any sort of graphic related issues. Run/play several of them for awhile to make sure because you want to see if this is hardware related or not and this can be a quick and easy way to determine this. Spend maybe 15 minutes in each of your games to see the result. If it turns out that none of your games are effected except for arma then try these 2 things: 2. Go into Steam and have it verify your arma3 game cache for any corrupted files...it will auto-fix anything it finds wrong. 3. If that didnt help then try manually deleting your arma3 profile in your documents\arma3otherprofiles\yourgamename and restart the game. -

Yes, that's correct...everyone's got this issue now...it's a new game bug that they need to fix and has nothing to do with the mission itself. Now this is not something I have heard of yet...having everythnig you see in game flickering doesn't sound normal or an expected part of the bug here that I've mentioned (which only effects the strategic map I believe). Have you tried rebooting you're machine? I know alot of people never shut down their computers and at some point thats bound to cause issues. If so then try a reboot of your system. -
Really?...you mean it's not even mentioned in their little beta section forum that its being worked on? I know there's a ticket made for it awhile ago. How can they not publicly comment on broken MP in a MP game?

Opening up the ports doesn't help, must be related to something else...always used to work for me but because of this I had to stop development. I also noticed when shutting down arma3 now it sometimes nearly crashes my internet connection or my connection to the net hangs and cannot be used for a good minute or 2 after game shutdown...never ever had this before (I havent played since May...so it's something thats changed over the summer). My other online Steam games are working without issue of course, sheesh. Arma3 MP is seriously borked.

**** NEW UPDATE FOR DUWS MODIFIED **** ...I am BACK! (or at least I WAS, heh). This new update was supposed to be alot bigger and not released yet, but due to the in-game hosting/server browser bug I'm releasing this short update AS-IS and will consider continuing at a later date if/when Bohemia figures out how to get the game hosting on Steam working correctly so hosts show in the browser. New As of September 15th, 2014: version 1.4 - reduced cost of calling for HC air supports in the 0-8 menu for both the attack chopper & plane (was previously set at 12cp, now it's only costs 5cp, to compensate for the unreliable AI) - reduced radius of mission area for the "Do or Die" mission so the briefcase will be a little easier to find. - added 2 new vehicle unlocks in the request menu - small transport truck 1 (seats 6 - cost 4cp) & small transport truck 2 (seats 9 - cost 6cp) - added 3 UAV's to the request vehicles menu (GhostHawk w/missiles & GhostHawk w/bombs at HQ, Darter at HQ & FOB's) - increased distance of enemy approach warning messages so you'll have a LITTLE more time to react and take appropriate defensive action (was 300m, is now 500m). - added new sound effect - a short but loud warning siren will sound whenever an enemy is within 500m of either the HQ or an FOB (this ensures you'll know if your HQ officer needs protection,just incase you missed the usual chat text warnings which are easy to miss; sound file made by DarkXess) - added Arma3's built-in "Virtual Arsenal" so it can be used as an alternative Armory (VAS still remains so players can use whichever armory they prefer, there is now an armory1 and armory2) . ATTENTION: FILE WAS RE-UPLOADED AS OF SEPT.16TH 01:26 GMT (due to a script typo causing certain vehicles to not appear in the FOB's Request Menu system). If you downloaded the file before this time please re-download it & reinstall once again. Be advised the file name and readme have not been changed so you will not see the difference except to know that as long as you see the 2 new small truck transports and Darter uav in the FOB request menu then you are using the latest version. yep, I believe so...my m4 pbo is dated 11/9/2013 (which is 1.05 right?)and the config pbo is dated 7/15/2014 (hotfix) I do not have the key file installed though...but that shouldnt cause a MP game crash...would it??

When I have this mod enabled it crashes arma whenever I try to start an in-game internet server...LAN starts fine...but INTERNET crashes the game before the server even starts so I dont even get as far as the map selection screen. If I disable this mod then its ok again. I never used to have this issue back in may.

Maybe someone can help me figure this out. I can no longer takeoff in the Wipeout plane. It seems as though maybe im not getting up enough speed for takeoff (I can only get about 160 on the ground roll). Keep in mind I never had an issue back in May flying this plane (ive been away for awhile and now im back again)...I have no trouble flying the choppers at all. Has something changed about the way this plane accelerates? Im wondering if i have a control conflict because it seems my mousewheel scrolling is effecting the throttle in the plane even though its not assigned as such ( i use it only for action menu...but I see its effecting the plane now too). Is it just broken or what?

I found my issue...for whatever reason unknown to me...my UP arrow (which is always bound to "fast forward" and "sprint") causes the planes nose to drop downward. I guess there's no fast forward for the plane...when i stop using my up arrow the plane takes off and flys ok. Guess theres something about the fast forward command the plane doesnt like.

yes, im putting a notch of flaps for takeoff...doesnt help...i get up to max 160 and try to takeoff but plane's nose just wants to fall. My mouse wheel is not set by default to have anything to do with acceleration, however my left mouse button is for accelerating, and fast forward is supposed to be set to my up arrow key...this has always worked before as I said earlier. But now the up arrow key for fast forward doesnt seem to have any effect at all on the plane...it works fine for other vehicles.

Has Benny mentioned recently what his plans are for for his Warfare mission? I see he hasn't posted in about 8 months and never finished this mission...has he stopped making missions for Arma3 or is he expected back does anyone know?

UAV's (both land based and Darter) are already in the mission so it's not necessary to add them. 2. As for re-enabling the adjustable HALO...not happening because I purposely took the adjustment out due to balance and spamming issues, it's prefect the way it is right now for how I initially intended it's use. 3. Mobile Armory? Never...it would be spam city and too unrealisticly easy (even for DUWS, hehe). I already removed it from the supply drops for this same reason. If you have any other ideas and you are still around in a few months in the fall season then send me an IM with your email address and I will contact you. Just because I may knock down some ideas does not mean I will not consider other ones as long as they make sense within the scope of "lots of options but nothing over-the-top easy"...must also be addon-free and no cpu hungry scripts since fps are a huge factor (we already have over 250+ scripts running!). -

@rlex - What I stated is that I am going to stop "publicly" updating/supporting it on "Steam". But if you (or anyone else would like to take over then be my guest:) ) ...just make sure to follow the copyright, post links to both Kibot's and My versions...and change the name slightly so nobody gets confused (for example: "Duws_Modified_Rlex" or "Duws_Rlex" depending upon which version you're basing it on. -

Guys...just a reminder that I've taken the summer off from any new coding/support for DUWS (guess some of you missed reading some of my earlier posts regarding that). There probably will not be any new updates until later in the year...maybe the fall season after summer is over, just too busy with work and family now. I'm not actively checking these forums lately, sorry bout that. Hopefully BIS will get to work on some useful additions or DLC that will inspire me to include in DUWS...not too impressed with what I've read about their roadmap though...we'll see what happens...I'll try to keep an eye out. @dfsgdcfa - the officer does not run away in DUWS. You must be running a mod that is breaking/changing the code and/or AI behavioral commands in the mission. @cardinaluk - unfortunately there is no detailed manual that explains everything in DUWS. You can download the pbo version and have a good read thru the readme's changenotes to see most of whats been added from the original mission...and you can head over the my steam workshop page and read through the "PINNED" discussion area there where some things may be described in a bit more detail...most of the learning just has to do with finding all the different menu's to use at both the HQ and FOB's. Well that and having a good understanding of how the base arma game works to begin with...many of the arma3 basics can be looked up on youtube probably. @jacodv201 - the armory works fine so I'm not sure why you are having an issue...maybe you just haven't figured out how to use the VAS script yet (or maybe by now you have! :-)...if not, try google'ing Virtual Ammo Script to find a youtube video...there must be a short tutorial someone's made on how to use it. If you know how to use it but its not working then its a mod youve installed which must be incompatible. Anyway...thanks for playing guys and keep at it....have a great summer and get out of the house a bit too!!!!!! -
Wondering if anyone knows of a reliable air taxi script that works for MP in Arma 3? I saw norrins but looks like it hasnt been updated since last April, as the alpha updates were just too much to keep up with. Doesnt seem like he ever came back to it though. Is there anything else out there that works well for Altis?

Question about using saveProfileNamespace and enableSaving

Anyone know if the "saveProfileNamespace" is effected by "enableSaving [false, false]"? In other words, if im using the former mentioned command in a mission to save certain variables, but I'm also using the latter mentioned command elsewhere in the same mission...will the mission then not be able to perform the namespace save? ...or are they not at all related? -

...and an important disclaimer on my part about using tools like this to make things "magically" appear...be aware that by using these sorts of addons in the mission that you are inviting glitches to occur during your play-thru. Things might start to not work as intended...triggers may not function as they should...and you can cause issues for those you are playing with that do not have the 3rd party objects you are spawning. I've seen it myself many times. So, if you're going to use these sorts of things it's best to use them when you're alone on LAN. -

@James - the only way to "properly" add modded vehicles is to add them into the scripts manually so that you can also add an associated cp cost to them. However, there is an addon here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?166602-Virtual-Vehicle-Spawner-%28VVS%29 You will not be able to associate a cost for the vehicles but it will let you spawn any vehicle once installed...cheating?, yea...and it looks as if the author stopped supporting it a long time ago so I have no idea if it even works after all the game patches since then...but these are the only 2 methods I know for adding new vehicles.
