Please read the post from Radish here: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=3&topic=650&start=17 You will see his not what you are claiming RN. He realizes as much as I do that it isn't the bandwidth limiting OFP. (I know this because we have more than anyone to my knowledge)... and Radish knows it. Stop flaming and trying to shoot people down on this forum. I know what our servers and Bandwidth consist of and to have you try and belittle them is just down right stupid.

Thank you Radish... We are doing all we can... Now if BIS can get OFP to require less CPU we will all be happy... It's a d*amn HOG!

OMG... Our email is fine our websites are fine. I am sorry you have an issue with it... but hey do you fund our organization? Are you a member? (Edited by BigQEd at 12:54 am on Nov. 29, 2001)

Sure... INFANTRY = Soldiers and such SOFT = things like the M2 machine gun, Jeeps and Cars which are soldier operated equipment with no armor. ARMORED = Tanks and the like with armor AIR = Choppers and other Aircraft PLAYER = Amount of players on the side at the bottom on the screen KILLED = Amount of times you have been killed TOTAL = Total of targets destroyed... different targets are worth different amounts. Soldier=1, Soft=2, ARMORED=3, AIR=4... Hope that helps (Edited by BigQEd at 9:20 am on Nov. 28, 2001)

RN Malboeuf... you basically said and continue to say I am lying. Why would I Lie? We have what I said... and I would like to see the actual monitor stats of this server you say does what you say it does. Your throwing numbers up in the air... but everyone that plays on our server (except you) says it's the fastest out there. BTW, there is ONE map (Rescue Randolph) which I made and is extremely intensive. If you played that map then yes it lags with 12+ people. But that map has 10 choppers and a Chinook with paradrop. All going to the same place at the same time. It will cause lag on any server with too many people. This is an issue with the map (actually OFP but I won't go into that) and I am always changing it to improve performance.

WE OWN THE CIRCUITS... WE OWN THE BANDWIDTH... WE OWN THE BUILDING. LOCK, STOCK AND BARREL How many times do I have to say it... and in how many ways? FIRST Net is a large Regional ISP and we have a hefty network... and it is our network. Redundant OC3. No dedicated server out there to my knowledge has more bandwidth... THERE ARE NO CAPS! Other than maybe the game having limitations. We have several different types of servers running and none have these issues. From Quake to CS to WolfenStein. RN Malboeuf ... again you spew things out of your mouth that you have no knowledge of.

Suma... thanks for your response. I hope BIS becomes more aware of the potential of Dedicated Servers. We need more functions for remote administration.

Again I own the company (ISP www.1st.net) and I would know if it was capped. It is not capped. We own multihomed OC3's. We have full access to the whole circuit... no caps.

I would like to know how bans can be done from Admin commands if possible... I had heard #ban <id> but that does not seem to work. Also if you manually add a Ban to the ban.txt is there anyway to make it active immediately without a server restart?
-
lol... based on response to posts I have made RN Malboeuf needs reassurance. Thus he insults and degrades others to try and make himself look better. To each his own... just understand that people will eventually catch on and you will need to change your name or they will not take you serious anymore. RN Malboeuf... realize your Internet knowledge is in the infantile stage. You know so little but yet you try to seem so intelligent. There are those of us out here that know a little more than you believe they do. (kinda like when growing up and believing your parents are stupid old idiots). Also remember... everyone has an opinion. Just because they do not exactly match yours does not mean they are wrong. There are always 3 sides to a coin... If this was a bit harsh I apologize. However, I felt it needed said.

I wouldn't go that far... I would say it needs work but it is playable on smaller maps. The thing is... is that the dedicated server shouldn't require so much CPU... that seems to be the main issue. Basically it is running the game like you would on a full game. Other dedicated game server do not do this... and thus they require much less CPU. These days Memory is not a real issue unless you have a memory leak which will eventually crash the server... so they need to tighten the code so there are no leaks. Usage is ok... just stop the mem leaks. As far as Bandwidth... I have asked before and I will ask again. HOW do you get OFP to utilize more... we have huge pipes but OFP just won't use it up... seriously we have 20M+ at any given time available and OFP just will not use even 1/10th of that. No matter what load we put on it.
-
Nam... we would be happy to assist you if needed. Take a look at our site and you will see that we host many gaming servers and have extensive experience with Linux and NT/W2K/XP. Just email me if you want/need assistance...

Dude... I am not going into a "mine is bigger than yours" discussion. It's simple do the traces and pings on our systems and you find them multihomed with BGP4 and on OC3 pipes. I own the circuits and the company (ISP) that they utilize. We have more than enough Bandwidth and our servers are all peachy... it's a matter of Netcode and CPU intesivity that OFP uses that causes the problems. NOT our lines (bandwidth) and not our servers. Simple no? (Edited by BigQEd at 10:59 am on Nov. 27, 2001)

Capped Bandwidth? I own the ISP... FIRST Net. No it is not capped. Also the server has plenty of horses. Dual Proc P4 with 1GB of Ram. If it is lagged it is due to a certain Map being very intensive, OFP Netcode, or a Client that is causing the issues. I wish someone actually had good answers to questions about tweaking the new setting for Bandwidth. I have seen several people talking about it but it seems with the 5 different settings no one really knows what they should be set at for optimal game play on large connection dedicated servers. These are the settings I am referencing: MaxMsgSend=<limit>; MaxSizeGuaranteed=<limit>; MaxSizeNonguaranteed =<limit>; MinBandwidth =<bottom_limit>; MaxBandwidth=<top_limit>;
-
BTW, I own my OFP... and run a d*amn good server with lots of respectable people on it. We know when a hacked version comes on as it clearly states "Remember Original Games Do Not Fade". Mine wasn't fading... it was a bug in a map... it has since been resolved.

Ok in my quest to building missions I am trying to figure out why my AH1's do not have Machine Guns on them. i thought they were default. What command do I need to use in the script to add this or other weapons to the AH1? Thanks!
-
We have Multiple OC3 connections at FragHaus... I also own the ISP it runs off. However, my problem is actually utilizing that bandwidth... I can't seem to get our servers to actually soak the bandwidth. They peak out at like 1000-1500... no matter how many people are on. We have had 32 playing on an intensive mission I made... Rescue Randolph and still not going higher. We have at any given time 20Mb+ available to the server... Someone tell me how to use more Bandwidth with an OFP server and I will give you a cookie...
-
FragHaus (www.fraghaus.com) is part of FIRST Net (www.1st.net)... which is an ISP with Redundant OC3 connections. We have plenty of Bandwidth to play with and no problems with our OFP servers.
-
No... I mean that whenever I make a mission with AH1's they do not have the 30mm Machine guns... they are equiped with TOW's and Missles but no gun... You can visably see it on the front of the Chopper but when you hop in as Pilot you cannot select them... they aren't there. Understand?
-
I don't think you understood me... I have a Mission with 5 AH1's and they do not have Machine Guns. (I know how to select weapons IN GAME). The problem is they just don't have the Machine Gun in them... very weird... So how do I put them in or add other weapons?
-
JRMZ... you can stop posting after me everywhere with negativity. You do not have to play on our servers but I am entitled to talk about them and have them in my sig. Thank you,
-
Ok... to each his own. We have a following of over 100 people now. Will be adding more servers soon

COOP is the only why to play. IMO Thundercok and Blake[kyllikki] amke some of the BEST missions out there for COOP... check these guys maps out! We run them on our server at 209.240.0.151 port 2234 Hey Thundercok... email me... or ICQ#2105237 (Edited by BigQEd at 9:20 pm on Nov. 9, 2001)

The actual game play on OFP is better than GR... OFP needs a better interface for people waiting and they seriously need to consider mid-mission joining. I made a suggestion that if there are AI slots that weren't taken then allow people to join in and take those slots. Why can't this be done? (Edited by BigQEd at 9:15 pm on Nov. 9, 2001)
