So how does this refute the fact that he is an ignorant racist? All those quotes were made up? What? Don't expect to get an answer to that question anytime soon!

    UK Elections

Got the power? The power of Grey Skull! Tories? Well they would have probably starting testing foreigners for AIDs at Heathrow airport, and set fire to all the gypsy camps...... There policies consisted of borderline racist immigration controls, and dismantling the NHS. Other than that, both parties are effectively syaing the same thing. I voted Lib Dem, only because I see there outlook on politics as fresh compared to the other parties. Anyone who votes for UKIP or Veritas however should have their voting rights taken away. Kilroy-Silk is a bigot and a racist, who's polocies are ill thought out and impossible to implement. He tends to attract those 'kick those brown people out', and 'I was on TV so I must be honest' voters.

Do you think they will compensate him, or have they just said 'Sorry for the torture', you can go home now. I'm more concerned as to why the German government didn't raise hell over this.

    Upgrading Gfx card cooler

Bals, go for the Artic Cooler you posted above, its superb. I used that until I switched to watercooling, and I was running its on a horribly overlclocked 9800 Pro. As for ATi cards overheating, what utter bollocks! I thought all the nVidia fanboys had died out!

USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

Here's the complete transcript. Try reading all of it. Nothing scary. He stumbled on explaining and he knows when he's spoken incoherrently. He's not a very good speaker, and when he tries to bring over complex arguments he tends to get words mixed up. It's not the best way to get his ideas over to the general public, some of which have difficulty following a bus time table and just want the absolute basics laid out to them He should either get some good practise in, script his speeches a little better, or try to dumb down the context in which he's speaking. He obvioulsy can't cope, even if he understands it, he can't speak it. Not particulary good traits for a public servant. (If the UK PM did that in Parliment, the opposition would accuse him of being drunk, and jeer him out. I would say being articulate helps in a public political setting. It's pretty much mandatory over here, as the press and MP's would tear you to pieces)

    Spammer gets nine years

Yes. Yet another prisoner in the already humongous US prisoner population. Maybe he will start something more conventional afterwards, like selling drugs or killing people and get a HIV infection to boot. If some bastard round here started stuffing 100's of envelopes of crap through my letter box attempting to sell me stuff/steal my bank details/or offer me 16 million dollars, I would be not to impressed and would ask that the authorities take action to stop this person from doing so. Email is the same thing, except my letter box is electronic. Why the hell should I have to put up with spam clogging up my mailbox? As for prison, hopefully he'll get shanked in the showers....

    Spammer gets nine years

Yes, but by time it gets to your email box its filtered. The amount of traffic spam creates around the internet is enormous, and puts extra load on the backbones and ISP servers. Go US, about time someone sorted this out.

    Gran Turismo 4

Bah, you want GTR. Pedals and a wheel are mandatory, it even features the entire Le Mans 24hrs! Mental! Makes Grand Turismo look like an arcade game. (Which it sort of is)

Ah the V.C. Only awarded when you face a greater than 90% chance of death, and still manage to keep going. (Most are postumously awarded in any event) The beauty of the V.C. is that it can be awarded to any rank, but only for bravery under fire in combat, unlike the Medal of Honour which can also be awarded for things like leadership. Still, from now on that chap gets saluted by Officers now.

    Competition for M16/M4 replacement opens

i think you could leave the SA80 out. i heard from a lot of people (most of them being British) the SA80 is utter crap, its heavy, and expensive. and there are a lot better choices out today to choose from than that weapon. The SA80 got a re-design from H&K a couple of years back, and now its a superb rifle. It still has a few minor niggles, but its accuracy is top of its class compared to other assault rifles. (SUSAT helps mind ;) ) Yes, the old one was awful, highlights included the gun firing on full auto if you dropped it on the floor, and chunks of it snapping off in your hands. (Did you know it takes M16 mags! At least is used to, not sure about the new A2 model)

    Digital Editing

Hi all, I was hoping someone would havea recommendation on a video editing solution I can use to create a decent video. I'm doing this as a favour to a friend (A new, foxy, blonde, famous model friend.... no, no names, try and guess ), and have about 15 mins of footage taken from a DV camera ripped to raw .avi. (5gb). I need to take segemnts, tidy them up, re-arrange them, plus drop in some covers as an overlay etc, and other publicity pictures. I had a dabble with Pinnacle Liquid 6, but I think I might have thrown myself in the deep end with that. Its not the easiest to get to grips with! Pinnacle Studio 9.3 only allows you to edited video you have ripped directly from the camera, so I can't use that either... Any ideas? I'm seeing her again on Wednesday, so I want to get cracking on it! And don't say Windows Movie Maker! Thanks

The F-14's fell into disrepair because all the Grumman techs left Iran when the Shah fell. Also, there supply of spares ground to a halt. Iran currently has a number of flying F14's, and now has the ability to manufacture spares locally. It is believed they have a small number of functioning AIM-54A's, and are working on their own BVR A/A missile.

World Car of the Year 2005

I wouldn't call the Enzo 'crap' Its a complete beast! Overpriced maybe, ugly, but its still not a crap car. As for the Porsche being 'undrivable', stop spouting off the old '911 going into a hedge backwards stuff'. New Porsches are very nice handling cars, and the GT is no exception.

Please, Go test drive the 05 Grand Cherokee Limited Edition and tell me that silly porche beats it. If you do go test drive it, make sure it has the 360 Hemi V8 and Quadra drive II 4wd system. Porche can't match it. Offroad it is more capable than any other factory jeep out there right now, and onroad it drives like a dream. [im]http://jpmagazine.com/roadtests/154_0412_gran_01_z.jpg[/img] Review Bah keep your American tat! If you want a good 4x4, buy a new Land Rover Discovery. Absolutley superb vehicles, the bastards can climb mountains! (As seen on Top Gear) Edit - Denoir, do you ever watch 'Top Gear'? Its Brit motoring show. In one episode they raced a DB9 from the UK tothe South of France, against a High Speed train. It was superb! I have the episode torrent if you ever want to watch it.

World Car of the Year 2005

I agree, but you do get a very clear view on your surroundings though. But you also get that with a Voyager too plus more useful space. But I don't see how or why a jeep pollutes more than the next car. And all the jeeps I've driven are easier to park than any other car I've driven due to the high seating height and the relatively short length of the car. Usually because a jeep/4x4 has a 3+ litre engine, and if its an US one, absolutely no MPG or emmisions controls! As for that Porsche.... Its a fucking 4x4! You buy a Porsche becuase its a sports car, not a school run van! People in 4x4 sicken me here. Fair enough if you live in the sticks and have to use it in rough terrain, but people who drive the bastards for city use are gimps. Whats the point? Do they make them feel secure? Sort your lives out people!

Wtach the ball joints on the 206. They have a habit of seperating when cornering. My mates wife had the ball joint seperate coming off a roundabout, that in turn ripped the driveshaft out, and the wheel was only held on by the steering rack. Luckily she was fine, but it could have been a very nasty incident. Common problem apparantly. (I get my RS Turbo soon Can't wait! )

We are talking about well built cars! I saw the UK review of the Mustang, lets just say, don't try to take any corners over 20mph, or assume the interior will still be intact inside of a year. >shivers<

DXDLL 1.0 (not Geforce MX compatible)

last time i saw the same symptom on a friend's pc, diminishing AGP aperture size in bios one notch fixed the problem. Try changing your AGP aperture size (diminishing or increasing it depending on what you already set it to) Â and see if it changes something. Hmm, no joy. Any other ideas? - Edit. I closed down Ati Tool which I use for clocking my card. Loaded up straight off after that.

Any reason I can't get Resistance to boot with the dll in the game directory? If I remove it, it loads fine, but other wise I get a small black box in the corner of the screen which then disapears. Running a Radeon 9800Pro

    The Iraq thread 4

No need for that at all. Bals was doing something that he might not agree with, but was doing so as it was his duty. Engaging snipers and RPG toting militants can't be a barrel of laughs can it. It might not have been your intention, but it comes over as a rather mocking gesture to what he did when deployed. So instead of preaching your grand vision of things, grab yourself a rifle and head to Iraq 'to do what must be done'. (Your a US citizen, go sign up!) Then we can make snide comments about you too! Or you can sit behind your PC and just piss people off....

    War against terror

Welcome back Bals. Are you on leave or has your deployment finished? Glad to hear you didn't get hurt by anything but the weather! (As for Ruff, I think he bases his entire knowledge of Somalia from what he saw in a certain film not so long ago....)

    WLAN

All versions of windows from 95 on up support DHCP, but the router must be setup to host it. This is disabled sometimes as it can conflict with other DHCP servers. (Mine for example, as I have a proper 2003 server running DHCP) I stopped using static IP's ages ago, far too much hassle. With DHCP you simply plug your machine into the network, and off you go.
  25. Badgerboy

    WLAN

Are you not using a router? If so, you shouldn't need to be changing IP and DNS address's, that should be taken care of automatically by DHCP. Do you have have a wireless access point plugged into a router, or is it a router with wireless built in? (Oh and by the way people, if your hardware supports WPA, use it and dump WEP. I sniffed my AP in work yesterday, and cracked the key in 57 seconds after I had garthered enough IV frames. That was a 128bit key as well. Switch to WPA, its very secure. As opposed to WEP, which is a joke, but sufficient for home use. Make sure you turn it on!) Also; Change the routers default SSID. People sniffing for AP's love ones with default names. Usually means that there is no secuirty, and the admin password is still set at default. Change the admin password, and if you can, change the admin user name. For added security, enable MAC filtering. This will allow only machines you specify to access your AP. (Not foolproof though. I managed to spoof this yesterday by sniffing unencrypted packets being sent to my test machine, and then spoofing it's MAC) Just remember, wireless is nice and easy, but you are effectively mounting a RJ45 socket on your outside wall. One of the rules of computing states that if someone has physical access to your network, thats one major safeguard gone. Wireless is as good as that.
