  1. Objects: High (would love to VeryHigh but to FPS consuming in certain scenes).

    That is CPU intensive.

-CpuCount=4 is not needed anymore AFAIK. The game is set to that compared to previously when it was set to dual core.

Post processing=NORMAL eats quite more FPS compared to LOW (on my pc anyway). Of course you lose the distant blur, but keep the blur effects like running/tired/suppression - and save FPS.

And you should not have memory to default (as you mentioned - problems) - it is for memory over 1GB. You have 1GB so you should be HIGH or VHIGH as you have. Just to clarify. ;)

I would put @CBA first in the modlist as well. Not a performance saver, but according to the creators it should be first to avoid any problems.

Maybe not much help, but some pointers. :)

  2. AlienXXI:

Just because I am still new here, does not mean I don't know how to spot a bug

It's very appreciated if you can spot and want to report a bug. Click my signature image and read the rules. After that go ahead and create a ticket (bug report). That site is setup for us all to report bugs, and BIS checks it frequently.

But please read the rules carefully or the ticket will most likely be discarded. ;)

  3. Just checking here if anyone else have the same issue.

With a 24 inch monitor (16:9), HD 6970 and the resolution in game set to 1600x900 (res + 3D res) i get black borders top/bottom.

This did not happen with the same monitor on the GTX275 (Nvidia) card. Had proper "full screen" no matter what i chose.

I can atm use 1440x900 and 1920x1080 with proper aspect ratio, but not 1600x900 which leaves fat black borders. I have the aspect ratio setting in game to 16:9 as well.

Maybe there is an ATI trick? :D Just like installing drivers for these cards...

  4. Also getting "nonlocalVRAM=2147483647" and have got that for a very long time. Back in ArmA (1) i think it was properly shown. However the game runs fine for me so i cant say if its bad or good. If you have less VRAM it might be good with that set properly though(?).

I have 6GB pagefile if i remember correctly. Its not 2GB that much i know.

EDIT: Tested this latest beta and noticed a little flickering at the first LOD in trees (OA). As i approach trees iand they change from 2nd to 1st LOD the white pixels appear and then a fast (and brief) flickering before settling. Seems on my machine the previous beta worked slightly better in this regard. Also tested Chernarus and didnt see the white pixeling in vegetation there. Seems its in OA veg only(?).

As so often with this game you cant be competelly sure until extensive testing. This is a brief test so far. Will go back and test some more.

  5. Cheers guys for letting me know im not alone. :D

Also thanks Richey79 for installation info.

EDIT: Suma, since the CFG writes the output of the game, does it matter anything that the 3DPerformance say one time 100000 (positive nr), and with another beta -4000000 (negative 4 million)? Very interested in this as it "seems" there is a difference. Maybe also placebo?

  6. Noticed something that went a bit worse in this otherwise superb beta. It has been there but in much less scale (for me personally). Its the AA "problem" with white pixels. This time i see it in vegetation (bushes and trees) and its pretty much of it.

It shows only as far as i can tell in the first LOD at maximum distance. So furthest away in the first LOD as you can get. Thats where its worst. The other LODS seems to be fine.

Check images and see if anyone else of you have the same.

    IMAGE1

    IMAGE2

    IMAGE3

Images JPG so not so great quality but you see the busy pixels going on in the trees.

Videocard: ATI HD6970 2GB (Drivers 10.12) <-maybe drivers are to blame? Hassle installing ATI drivers though. Tried to install older but they wouldnt "take". Display drivers never installed although i tried 10 times. So went back to 10.12 again.

Scared to move away from this beta if a new comes though. Performance is amazing. Please keep it that way sweet sweet BIS. :)

  7. Brief testing shows superb performance over previous builds with high VRAM. VRAM is indeed correctly set as well. :)

Tested driving and looking around villages in Takistan with much vegetation and the performance was at top on highest. No LOD switching noticed so far. Stuttering when zooming in/out even seems less although there.

All in all very good impression of this beta. Great work BIS - thank you.

  8. I deleted the ARMA2OA.CFG and ran the Official patch which gave me both LocalVRAM and NonLocalVRAM at 4GB each (beta gave proper Local but wrong NonLocal). This seems to work and i have good FPS for a while. However the game degrades and textures start switching between high and low. Also looking around/zooming in/out will make textures and LOD's change in a very visible manner and the FPS gets very bad when this happens.

ARMA always stuttered when zooming in/out (nvidia too), but it gets worse now over time with the new card. It is to the point it becomes impossible to enjoy the game unfortunatelly, but im going to do some tests again today and see what i can come up with.

I was holding the GTX580 and the HD6970 in my hand at the shop and i chose the latter due to it being christmas and all. Not much cash to throw on myself this month lol. Anyhoo, i think i'll have to register over at ATI's official forums (if they have one) and start bothering them to look at ARMA. :)

  9. It has to be the AMD drivers, got to be.

They've "optimised" them to gain performance which is having an adverse effect in this game.

For e.g in PMC, stand near a stationary truck. From a pretty close distance the detail level just bottoms out.

To me its random. Or maybe even that it comes over time. Havent tested enough to be sure. But at one point the textures (all textures) started switching fast between "low" and "high" in a frenzy, and LOD's did the same. Both on the world and units, vehicles etc. Restarting the game and its all good again. So far it seems its coming after a while. Might be combo of drivers and code in the game for ATI/large Vram. Not sure.

Im also thinking this is a problem especially when maxing the game. Turning down some options makes it more stable. At least with the little testing ive done. However at max i have no lag so it doesnt feel im maxing it out on hardware that cant cope.

Will do some tests. And maybe try to poke at some AMD forums. :)

  10. Noticed with this latest beta that the ARMA2OA.CFG had "NonLocalVram" set to "0" for me. Didnt see that first though and went in to test. Massive flickering of textures that went between lowest res textures up to max res textures. Also trees got white and flashing between normal and white.

Removed ARMA2OA.CFG and ran Official patch where NonLocal got proper amount again and all is beautiful.

Will test and see if this happens again. Never encountered it before.

EDIT: New videocard HD 6970. Once ARMA2OA.CFG set it properly to 2GB Vram, but now its set to 4GB Vram (Official patch). Not complaining though. Maxed out on 1980x1020 with no lag. Finally able to play this game as its supposed to be. :)

EDIT2: Saw your CFG now Cross. Exactlly what happened to me. I got twice the LocalVram when i did it (removed CFG - restart game) again with the Official patch.

  11. Dont know if anyone mentioned it, and it might have been the latest beta, but i briefly tested a M1A2 and the tracks plus whine was there but no actual engine sound (CO).

    Maybe something to check.

BTW love the track rattling on hard turns. Dont know how you did that, but its the best thing ever. ;) Thanks LJ.

  12. .R.R.e.L.;1794977']In the lingor zip file there was a map with @lingor. So I extracted @lingor to my Arma II folder. And I saw inside the @lingor map' date=' the addon map. And there I placed the .pbo and .bisign files.

    Screenshot

    [url']http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/6056/naamloosrr.png[/url]

Please put the files into this folder system:

    @Lingor/Addons/Files goes here

The "Addons" named folder is essential for it to work. The folder needs to be named Addons within the @mod folder. The first folder is for you to know what mod it is, and inside you have the "Addons" named folder so the game knows the files are in fact addons. Hope that makes sense. Sorry if you already have done that though. Just writing in haste. ;)

And cheers Ice for an im sure superb island!

  13. Just noticed something in the beta. When firing main gun on M1 TUSK (maybe all tanks not sure) there is no effects at all. I know dust kickup was gone before, but there isnt any smoke cloud or fireball now. So no effect at all. Only the gun recoils but tank is still (no wobble) and no effects whatsoever. Also i think the MG had a smoke cloud when firing the main gun, but i think thats ticketed at the CIT already.

Im off to do my re-install of the whole game and see if things get better.
