  1. Finally got a chance to test the latest beta and wow. Had my squad in column formation as we moved quickly up a hill. When i noticed enemies ahead i went up on the side and told my squad to move up towards the enemies. I had made them aware of the enemies by reveal them. My squad broke the column formation on their own and moved up in a line formation going from cover to cover. :) They covered the whole area as there was hills on both sides of them.

Amazing and thanks. Awesome work BIS. This is why we love ya. ;)

Little EDIT: The new Atoc thingy seems to be what is used in Fallout New Vegas? When i look at the grass in that game i see the same dithering around the grass.

  2. Tested this but the VD went above the specified maximum VD. So when the FPS was equal/above maxfps specified the VD went up to 8000 although it was set to 3000 max. The minimum VD seemed to work however.

Ran latest beta and with some addons. Maybe some conflict there. Have to check again when i get home from work.

Very nice addon otherwise. Always liked Myke's dynamic VD in ArmA.

  3. Hey, Metal, you and dale can suck my balls.

Keep that language out of here please. You should know you will get resistance coming on to the official forum asking for simpler movement.

Test PROPER addons to get faster movement. Besides that im not sure there is an addon making you float like the action games. Maybe someone else knows that pass by here.

  4. I dont know what you mean with 'auto-danger mode', and i also didnt get it back in whatever beta it was. The AI goes into combat mode automatically since OFP. Its just that they dont follow orders as quickly anymore as they used to do.

(But did we really have that command not too long ago? I cant remember it at all)

Thats exactlly what i meant. They always went into danger thats correct, but one of the patches some months back IIRC made it totally "automatic" in the sense there is no way of giving orders during that mode. They just play it out regardless of order. Pre that specific patch you could order your units to take different positions and even get the medic to heal squaddies during fights.

Would be nice to have that "authority" back. :)

  5. Going from Nvidia GTX275 to ATI HD6970 was a massive change. However like DMarkwick the FPS do go up and down like a rollercoster. It all depends on what map and where on that map. Vegetation and buildings at the same time is even heavy for the mightiest cards especially with most settings to high and a high resolution.

So far im doing real good with the latest beta and i can see now that my i7930 badly needs a new cooler so i can start OC'ing it. :)

  6. A much better solution(IMO) would be too keep the AI's independentness and give us a 'Run you lazy bastards!' command which would make them stop looking for/giving cover and make them stop engaging targets in combat mode until given a 'Yeah you can do whatever the fuck you want to do now' command, restoring the default behaviour.

We had that not too long ago. ;) The introduction of auto danger made us lose control although getting better combat savvy squaddies. I agree though. Some fail-safe order to give when you really have to get out of a hairy situation would be optimal.

  7. I'll have to take a look at those links. But yes obviously I'm the squad leader when I try to issue commands besides the generic hold fire/fire at will and move/regroup. I think it's F4 that brings that up, and I see all of the options, but they're greyed out. My problem is my AI are set to stealth on a user made mission and they're just low crawling around when I need to hustle to an objective leaving me alone to fight the Takistanis.

    To add from bluesilence post.

You can press SPACE as well to select all squadmembers. And then you have 1 through 0 for orders and functions.

  8. Ive seen some spectacular AI moves as well in this beta. Definatelly going in the right direction. :)

There are some things that make you sad of course when it comes to AI. For example AI that you order to go somewhere chose to move in visibility of the enemy AI when they have a big wall to move behind (and they know the enemy is right there - and they get killed). Things like that is annoying, but i bet it's hard to fix to 100% perfection. Im satisfied however that BIS keeps updating us. Could'nt ask for more.
