I'd like ragdoll too. It's not as much an improvement as surpressive fire, but it would do a ton for immersion. Plus I'm not convinced yet that it would hurt performance as much as people say.

I like it, but the controls need alot of refinement. Especially the camera.
-
I'm all for it. Having people stop to reload can really screw up a raid or any other mission where you need everybody fast and effective.

ArmA Rated one of the HARDEST GAMES OF ALL TIME
AWDrift replied to Kevlar2007's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
That list is a joke, not even one metal slug or contra title there. -

Upcoming tactical shooter from Blackfoot Studios: Ground Branch
AWDrift replied to Tactical Jerky's topic in OFFTOPIC - Games & Gaming
Why? There hasn't been anything to suggest the devs lied about the plot and setting of the game. -
It looks good, but the feel is off. It looks more sci-fi than anything else to me. Also I think there might be too much action like in the last starwars movies. Makes it lose the "wow" feeling when something big happens.

The earth is trying to kill us. The only option is to kill it first and prepare for any counter attacks from the rest of the solar system.

He spent so much time trying to be witty that he forgot to review the game.

I've had tanks shoot down A-10s. The tank gunners are way too accurate.

I was kinda hoping for some new innovations, but after the gameplay vids it looks like the old style in it's most refined state. It will be nice to see it go head to head with newer RTS gameplay styles.

Galaxy at war for ofp is still going I think.

I just hope it comes out in a decent amount of time. Don't want to get all hyped up and have to wait till late 08 or 09 to play it.

Is anybody doing anything to fix the tracers
AWDrift replied to Jblack's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Don't tell people to just deal with it. People have just as much right to ask for tracers as anything else. Until bis says "No new tracers." There is no harm in asking. -
Still bots are always good when your internet goes out or you just want some fun without any of the hassle that come with online gaming.
-
Hope they put in some good bots.

Agree with OP 100%.

I'm having a good time with ArmA overall. The A.I. is bugging me though. They only shoot to kill, no surpressing. It makes it hard to get a good pace going in the mission editor. It seems like they don't shoot at you, they just outright kill you or don't fire at all. I'm liking the way they move in open spaces and are able to enter a town now without all hell braking loose though.

Better sounds would be nice too. I want to hear the thing fire and then **** my pants in fear as I run for the nearest cover. Same for small arms too. I can hear the supersonic crack, but not the impact or a whizz. I never really feel like I'm getting shot at in ArmA until a bullet hits me or my squadmate goes down.

They should be a bit heavier, right now you can spike one like a football.

I think it is also due to the lack of quaility stuff in the WW2 shooter genre in general. BiA was held back by the limitations of the consoles and you never saw more than a couple small enemy squads at a time. CoD has epic battles, but little strategy other than killing as many enemies as possible. MoH has just been stuck in a rut lately. It's the reason I don't really mind seeing Normandy or the Pacific again. It has been done alot, but never done quite right and ArmA has the most potential of any moddable FPS game to do it right.

WW2 & Vietnam. Not so much vietnam right now because a ton of great vietnam stuff got released for OFP, but with WW2 not so much. Also modern warfare is pretty boring without proper CQB& weapon systems.
-
Reviewer doesn't seem too familiar with the genre in general.
-
I get it in GTR2, Stalker, and OFP+SLX. Not in ArmA yet though.

U.S. Ebgames has it
