    ArmA2 - The Xbox 360 thread

http://www.gamestar.de/index.cfm?pid=452&pk=12176 http://www.gamestar.de/index.cfm?pid=452&pk=12150 I think it was these two links that confused me, they show 360 buttons but thats about it... not exactly definitive proof, maybe someone could clear this up? Im not getting into a console vs PC argument its still all the same shit year after year and it goes nowhere you may as well argue about religion!, if you dont like consoles don't go into the 360 thread, im not going to go into the PC thread and starting consoles are better than PCs - I have better things to do!

    ArmA2 - The Xbox 360 thread

whats going on with ARMA 2 on the 360 then? its been about four and a half years since I last posted so im just slightly out of the loop with how its going, i haven't heard anything about it theres just no info about it out there. Due to CM lack of responsiveness i can see OFPDR falling by the way side but at the same time has stoked an interest in realistic tactical shooters on consoles - maybe a better time for arma to come in on the market? if they plan to at all anymore? could anyone update me? :)

    ArmA 2 on Xbox 360

Well the way it worked in elite was honestly adequate, tracking targets was relatively easy and holding down the trigger slightly would cause you to hold your breath for a steady aim, great system with a great use of dynamic contextual controls - controls of a console version imo are really not the issue

    ArmA 2 on Xbox 360

I thought the aiming on flashpoint ELITE was near perfect due to the fact of never having any frustrations due to the streamline ease of use that made the game play extremely satisfying that among other things - the best damn game i bought for the xbox just out of curiosity, Is something like track IR or some similar technology possible on the 360 with the live vision camera? (using the gesture tech or some third party product) and to BIS, are you looking into providing download content (as a possibility) or is this somthing thats up in the air due to microsofts possible limitations with thier terms and conditions?

    ArmA 2 on Xbox 360

Ive been in a thousand of these arguments, PC users attacking consoles for the demise in gaming and are convinced through stereotyping and vast assumptions that it will ruin thier game. Console users (on this forum) often on the defense coming up with 101 solutions to a PC gamers worries. It never reaches a conclusion. So as its announced its coming to consoles (Im going to say probably just 360) PC users will have to put up and shut up and at the same time probably assume the worst of a dumbed down game, whereas console users will assume the best of a rugged online system, DC (like European weapon/soldier/vehicle packs) and a 100% experience they expect from the developer of the game with no cut backs except things designed for the PC inevitably programming in the editor etc and a refined ergonomic control system. At the end of the day its doesnt come down to us, it comes down to how much you trust the developer on delivering the experience. But then again no matter how good both the versions are im sure the console version will be come the scape goat of all the problems under the sun for the PC version. Time will tell! and i cant wait!.

    ArmA 2

First reading about "Game 2" I remember reading allot of advanced features like dynamic destruction, advanced next gen features etc, but seeing that ArmA 2 video and the lack of these features, is this actually the "game 2" or has it been replaced by an updated arma? I thought the original projections were 2009? or have I got completely confused and this article is all about the ArmA expansion?? Either way if its coming to consoles without being changed im happy, just a little confused at the same time

    OFP2/XBOX???

really? I assumed this was "GAME 2" is this op flash only likeness to the original the name?. I never really followed the codemasters dispute - could som1 expain to me what happened and what the hell this codemasters game is if it aint being developed by BIS - cheers

    OFP2/XBOX???

http://www.codemasters.co.uk/press/?showarticle=9620 "Promising warfare on a scale never seen in a FPS, the biggest name in modern military simulation gaming will return in 2008 as Codemasters confirms that Operation Flashpointâ„¢2 is in development for PC and major console formats." Well its coming to 360 to then but im holding my breath as to wether they will change the game for consoles (I really hope to god they wont) Im really hoping for a direct port.

    Arma for XBOX 360?

6 months of nothing now all im going to say is "F*CK! ,injustice" though the sad fact is im actually upgrading withing a few months with a rig that wont have a prob with arma but im scared, scared of going back to pc - If the 360 is a colourful MP experience the PC is grey text based tedium - i guess Ill have to get back into the mindset of that, leave my FRIENDS behind and revert to personalitiless AQAINTENCES. psh.

I know you didnt specifically didnt say anything about tactical shooter but being as this topic is about one being ported over(or not) so I ultimately related it to that. Other wise if you not here to take the PC side in this, i dont know where your coming from I dont know the specific numbers but I read that information in an interview with one of the representatives, they were speaking about how they are moving RTSs into a console market due to the large uptake by the consumers Thats not my point, my point is the target audience, its going to be a serious one - Â I was going againt the idea that console gamers are mainly into causal gaming and theres not a market for the more serious gamers, these are not casual games and yet there some of the biggest sellers. buh The industry is 30 years old but thats not 30 years of constant development The big ones like Ubisoft and EA do this marketing towards thier target market - so yea they know what to sell to them but thats for their consumers not the whole Platform and being that they way games are they are pretty much released across platform so it doesnt say anything specific about console world anyway. Business terms its in its infancy and in technological development, with its rate of expansion producers are hitting the middle ground, but of corse theres so many potential consumers and high demographics you cant come along and say "that wont sell because all people who own console are ..PC user stereotype.. " < all im trying to do is justify y reasons againt the sterotypes be it all console users are kids, that they arent into in depth gameplay, serious gaming and now ultimately tactial serious play.

You raised a good point with RTS actually, before they appeard on the console market, like Arma people said they werent on the console market due to patience, tactics etc that usually are involved Recently in June LOTR BFME 2 was released for the xbox 360 and has remained a popular game and has sold far more than expected, so much so that they are now looking at intro ducing more RTSs onto the console market, command anc conquer for example. The same can be said for mmorpgs - this is a good example of PC going to console against preconceptions of the PC world. Its very nieve to assume marketing departments know what they are doing to the extent your implying, the games and console market is still in its infancy and is a constantly expanding market subject to big shifts in targets in corporate businesses If the console market was so dominated by arcade games we wouldnt be seeing the hardcore RPGs - and if you dont accept that, one of microsofts biggest racing games FORZA motorsport is one of the most complex games in the racing market, they are also releasing GTR another racing simulation Your telling me that there is room for serious in depth games for racing, RPG, RTS but not tactical shooters? There is absolutely no reason why not if you basing it on the existing market and not "true" genralisations

This has got to be one of the most irritating topics ive contributed in, People taking things out of context, ignoring facts and resorting to embellished opinion and prejudice without backing it up IM a 360 player but used to be an avid PC player of tactical shooters, I have no prejudice and bias. PC is a great system but then so is the xbox 360, its designed to play games and its a great system to do it on and you PC people havnt raised a single strong point to say otherwise (you need 104 keys? do you shite) when ofp/arma wasnt around you were the ones playing the battles fields and the call of duties the rainbow sixes, you had no choice for military hardcore shooters, you didnt think you needed one. then Ofp came along on which many of you thrived, it wasnt for everyone and tey stayed where they were how can you expect an armed assault community when its in a platform where it doesnt exist - every console player that has GRAW, Rainbow six, Battlefield 2 is a potential Arma player and there are alot of those players. And for god sake, for the second time, one key principle of the Xbox 360 concepts was that PC developers would find it much easier to port their games over, you cant compare a 5 year old game on a hugely different system without the marketing to a not yet released game being ported over to a new port friendly system.

Hey, you forgot the 64 MB of ram (BIS makes miracles or what) . I dont understand this whole "debate" direction, you can play Halo and GRAW on the 360 (where they make sense) and you can play Arma where you can take full advantage of everything it can deliver (PC). With a suitable interface (mouse/keyboard) and high resolution display, and with a editor that you can really use. Cutscenes, scripts, voice acting and sound, campaign description, etc (Im not going into the addon scene). Im not saying the game would be bad without creation tools and the editor (i loved playing and replaying OPF:R to death, it was pure magic) but why limit yourself with a half featured sim and a clumsy controler when you can have the whole deal? I presume you guys are more than casuals (since you bother to come here) so you should know how much more a PC can do with OPF and Arma and yet you choose a crippled version because of butterflies and bees? Arma wouldnt really need an editor, scale would be compromised for graphics and the gameplay would be toned to fit the console interface (and target audience), perhaps Codemasters will release their OPF2 for the 360? . What would i do? Instead of spending my €'s on a console i would stick with VBS... I could never live with a console arma version after the PC OPF:R experience. There was a perfectly good editor on elite, it wasnt anywhere near as powerful as the PCs granted as it didnt have scripts etc but it doesnt mean you need it, im sure they could talor a perfectly powerful mission editor based on thier learnings, they could in theory put in the power to edit scripts as you can pick up a cheap usb keyboard for the Xbox360. Obviously I doubt that what would happen but then again i dont think it needs it, surely the 360 version could hijack the PC editing community or somthing along those lines, all depening on what BIS and its publisher want to do. Scale and graphics would no way be toned down gameplay and target audience is a matter of opinion of which none of us have any means of backing up I highly doubt that BIS would change the game in a negative way for a younger target audience - they have no track record of doing this so What.Are.People.Basing.This.On
