So you can delete this post!

W00t! Go China!
I've never bothered downloading this addon... until today!
Stupid Broadband! Work harder or I'll switch supplier!

-
I just saw this in www.ofp.info and it looked interesting. So I scrolled down... and scrolled down some more... and some more...
Normally i wouldn't mind to d/l some requirements, but there were just too many. If you put them all in 1 folder like someone suggested it would make things easier, even though you would probably have to ask all the seperate creators for permission.
It really does look kickass (dirt airstrip! ) and quite extrodinary, but it's a "would you like some chips with your ketchup" situation.
-
Yep I'm not kidding, for those of you who don't watch "How to start your own country" this guy has managed to start his own country in his apartment. Check it out here
It's quite funny, but also true (he's managed to aquire more citizens than the Vaticans and is catching up with San Marino!
Oh yes and he "invaded" Eel Pie Island in London

@Airborne Alcoholic...There's a LOT of things in OFP that can affect FPS - to make a test absolutely fair you'd need to decide on set values for things like view distance, level of terrain detail, screen resolution, whether DXDLL is on, and if so, what parts are switched on (I get about a 15FPS drop when I turn on full processing and reflections, whether there's water in sight or not)... and above all - a test mission that everybody has...
I did something like this a while back when I compared Y2K3, FFUR and EECP, but that was a year ago and the post is probably long gone... so here's a quick check I did with all the crap I've currently got installed...
System:
P4 3.0Ghz
1024Mb Ram
GeForce 5700LE 256Mb Graphics
1280x1024 Screen Resolution
OFP Main Settings:
DXDLL full on
Terrain Detail: High
View Distance: 1200m
Textures: all on 1024x1024
Mission: Steal The Car
In all cases I played the mission to the end and kept an eye on the average framerate (usually didn't vary more than a point or two throughout)
Mods Tested & Results:
Y2K3 - 23fps
FFUR V5.0 - 21fps
ECP 1.085 - 27fps (only unit replacements done so far being the new RHS naval infantry replacing the standard rusky grunts)
FDF - 23fps (not entirely fair, since their version of Steal The Car is on a different island, I think)
CSLA2 - 23fps
So all the mods I've tried are much the same... the new ECP is slightly better, but a fairer test will be the new E:ECP when it finally arrives. FFUR 5 fared a little less well than the others, but Tbird assures us all he's done a little fat-trimming since that version, so I reckon it's gonna be just fine...
However, I remember Pappy from Y2K3 saying a while back that 15 or over was fine in his opinion and I tend to agree - If you can have total FFUR mayhem going on all around you and not go below about 15fps then you're sorted and don't really need any more... I'm so hi-detail the only time I see 30fps or more is in the editor! but it looks gorgeous and it's more than playable enough...
I get lag principally when there's lots of polygons AND explosions all visible at the same time, (50-odd ORCS hi-res Ruskies and calling in an heavy airstrike at the same time dropped me into single figures) so I'm now gonna go try the exact same thing with Battlefields or some other larger scale stock mission and see if things are any different... I'll post a (much shorter) report when I'm done...
B
Whoa! Thanks for that!
You know what you're doing, unlike me

I should probably leave it to you to test the upcoming FFUR, after all you do have far more results than me.
I thought a good testmap would be the first combat mission of the OFP campaign. It has a several squads, a few tanks and air support, a fair mix of units and vehicles and scripts (like cutscenes, radio etc).
But testing the Battlegrounds should be interesting, ECP tends to slow down significantly (in my game) when there are around more units, while FFUR tends not to change.
We'll see for sure in the final result.

-
Or a different way would be to press App key (or somthing like that, between the Windows and Ctrl buttons on the right of the keyboard) and select show FPS (if you're using FlashFX).
Btw thanks, it would really help if as many people with different PC setups participate just to settle this arguement once and for all.
-
Hmm, with all this discussing on ECP scripts and FFUR scripts, I'm tempted to compare them when FFUR 5.0 is released, to see which is less laggy.
My computers specs are:
AMD Athalon 3000 (2.0Ghz)
Radeon 9600
512 DDR RAM Memory
I think that's all you need to know that will effect performance, I'll be waiting for the next release of FFUR so I can begin testing.
I'm sure it can't be long now, after what Thunderbird keeps telling us!

-
this has probably been asked already, but ar you using ECP or Flashfx?
Quote[/b] ]hmm let me see here. FFUR=FlashFX Unit Replacements......
Ahh yes, sorry for the spam

-
OH YESS! Does this mean the Cobra will have the same touchup and paintjob as CSLA's Blackhawk!
They really look beautifull. And the Hind! The desert camo looks awsome!TBH i havn't been taking as much notice into this realease as your previous releases, I thought they were just touchups, I only just realised properly what you're doing!!

Brilliant, ****ing brilliant! (and I mean that in a good way
) -
Well I've never been to keen on swimming, I always just sat on the beach and laughed at people as they stumbled around, got wet and occasionally ended up getting swept out to sea, ahh yes it was the summer of 1861, a friend had bought a wooden raft and we all decided that we should take it and...
...hey, where did everyone go?
Seriously though, it would still be handy for a getaway method, espesially if you decide to drive off that huge cliff on Malden.

-
It sure would be nice.
Looking good guys, keep up the good work!

-
It is close now, yes?

One thing tho, I didn't see it on the list, but will Russian Voices be "SELECTABLE" in the profile editing screen? I noticed you added new ones for the last FFUR, will it be possible to choose to be Russian?
-
I don't understand why you copied and pasted it from another picture onto a sea backdrop. Don't deny it!

Despite the risks I'm going to ask: Is everything on schedule? (Ohh now I've done it)
Oh my did I forget to complement you?! I wouldn't think I'd have to seeing that anything with FFUR is garunteed greatness

(That was a compliment btw...
) -
I just don't want to see this:
THIS BATTLE WAS BROUGHT TO YOU BY JAMSTER
...probably followed by a "Crazy Frog" song.

-
It's been a while since I've played in the snow (
). I can't wait, as usuall
Can't be long now, unleas someone releases a very nice Tank or Plane or somthing that Thunderbird likes

-
More.... make MORE!

I really like your Islands, I can't wait until the updates, and future releases (if any... please make some!
)!!!!!Seriously, if you havn't tried them DO SO NOW!
As a sidenote:
Hey Gnat, which helicopter is that?

What about a unit creation option in the main menu? (as in: "Campaign, Single Mission, Multiplayer, Map Editor, Unit Creator etc)
I'm not sure how many people have played "Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War" with it's "create your own chapter" menu, but somthing similar could be untilized for OFP2.
For example:
You could mix colours to suit your current terrain environment to get the perfect camoflauge, and an option to create a custom platoon/regiment badge. This idea sounds as if it could only be done for MP, but it would be handy for Online Squads/Clans/Guilds.
This could open up the player's choice a little more, rather than the default camo settings.
Another Idea is a program such as Oxygen actually integrated into the game, but I'll leave that for another topic.

-
I bought GOTY just to get resistance (couldn't find it separate) so mine's:
D:\Games\Codemasters\Operation Flashpoint
A difference between versions perhaps?
-
Whoa wrong topic, please ignore this, or could someone delete it.
-
With OFP2 I heard it will be a TFPS/RPG/RTS (RTS with squad management, TFPS - Tactical FPS). So...
What about different soldiers/outposts/bases/sectors etc have different opinions of you, depending on what you do. This could lead to the AI giving you more help, such as offering to hitch a ride to a point on the Island, or giving you better information on goings on. Like Morrowind only more "in depth."
Also, will the AI be similar to the one currently being applied to STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl? (As in: do they eat when they're hungry, respond to different situations. If he's shot at or is outnumbered will he call for backup from a local patrol or base? And will that call be forwarded to a helicopter/recon team that is on patrol in that area to take a look, evaluate the battlefield and call the necasary amount of units to aid the soldier? Also, some proper tactics used by the squad/unit, will they send soldiers around the enemy whilst distracting them with suppression fire? I'm sure you get the idea. It may sound like a bit much, but let's be reasonable, this IS what would happen in real life, they wouldn't just listen to an outnumbered squad get captured/killed, they would try to aid them, unless for some reason they cannot.)
-
I'm gonna see how well Alchahol is simulated, drink 2000 units then get in the largest plane I can find (helicopers will do if necassary) and keep flying until I pass out (this could be a result of blackouts, redouts or the drink... THE DRINK!!!
What better way to see the landscape

-
This may sound shocking but:
Why didn't anyone tell me there was a C&C mod coming for OFP!!!
Really awsome work, can't wait to see future updates and releases!!

-
Hey I just got back from spending the last few months inside a meeting room and I'm greeted by this!

As usuall amazing work, and I'm happy you're adding some CSLA units (such as the blackhawk) into the mix!
One question:
I've missed out on a lot of things recenlty, but I keep seeing grass in some addon pics (not just WW2). I was wondering if it will be optional wether we can have grass or not
!OR!
Is there a place where I can get the grass?
Looking good! Can't wait!

-
I just orderd BF2! I don't need it anymore!!Hehe!

Good work guys well done, and not just the product, you've all seemed very dedicated, seeing that you never had to do this, and taking time out of your busy schedules to make such an awsome mod! I would say I love you all but I'm not that kind of guy!
And also to you guys at FFUR, but you don't have a topic anymore! Where did it go?
Again, well done.
FFUR Incoming HUGE RELEASE !!!
