hehehe We aren't sure what song(s) we're going to use yet, but we greatly appreciate the suggestions and will almost definately use some of them. As far as what the mission is about... It's about drinking, driving, wenching, killing, revenge, explosions, loud music, civs pissing their pants and much more! You'll just have to wait for the final product, coming to a PC near you sooner than you can calculate the trajectory of the nearest 5 asteroids! Asmo

Yes, there are. Â Â Thanks for the music suggestions everyone! Â Progress is happening! Â Asmo P.S. Thanks, but for that CD player thing 10 songs would equal ~ 20 MB! And I'm on 56k like many others still.

it's all my CEO's fault. I swear it! Seriously though, I know this has been an epic wait for this pack, but we really want to do things right and are veryyyyyyy close. As Tomby said, it's that damn final 1%. If RL wasn't in the way for me right now, you'd all have the pack. Send me $ and you'll have it sooner, otherwise it will be here soon. (not serious there, but you get the point) *goes off to get a couple hours sleep* Asmo

I will not tell others what to do, therefore I'm going to explain what I believe in and what our mod does. When we released the submarine we released it open source on purpose. (someone even pointed out that we "forgot" to encrypt it, which I was thankful for of course, but wondered why it was expected that we do so? ) We did, however, ask that anyone wanting to remake it contact us and let us see their work. This is simply because we're interested in seeing what others do with our work, and wish to be sure that credit is given where credit is due. (The AEF mod contacted us and we were happy to work with them, just asking that credit was given, thank you for being thoughtful and asking!) I was proud to release it open source, in the hopes that others would learn from it and make submarines as well. (it still needs a West enemy to battle with, heh) I'm also proud to help others get through that difficult process faster with the knowledge gained from our experience. This helps "leapfrog" the community and is how I learned the foundation for all of my (sometimes limited) addon and mission making skills. Making the sub was a very difficult, time consuming process for our mod and Ebud said it well, it's an art and the end result is an intimate part of the creator(s). Is it too much to ask that the addon makers be allowed to decide what happens to their art? Asmo P.S> I want to thank all those that have released their stuff open source and have helped the community with all the excellent tutorials and other help provided in so many ways! You played a big part in helping the community grow to what it is and you should be proud!

I've heard it before, but to hear it again makes me so happy! A lot of the stuff our mod has in the pipeline is planned for OFP2. Thanks for the info Suma! Asmo

The Everon Cartel Mod might be able to help. I'd like to know more about what's available if possible. Asmo

@ bmgarcangel Please, NEVER drink a lot (or even more than 1 beer per hour) and drive. Being older doesn't help in that arena. It just shouldn't be done IMO. (I know a guy that's been in jail for 8 years, he killed an entire family while driving drunk) As far as the situation with not being able to drink in a warzone... From a personal standpoint I think people should be treated like adults and trusted to know what their limits are and what situations warrant what behaviour. However, from an authoritative standpoint... You can't trust people to act like adults with controlled substances in a warzone and must enforce rules to keep everyone at peak performance and readiness. About the Canadian soldiers not being able to drink in an American base... "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." However, I think it has been established that this base isn't considered American soil, but Iraqi. If that's the situation, Iraqi laws should apply, but the Army can supersede these laws anyway. Also, IMO my government (USA) will change the rules to fit their needs whenever a loophole can be found. And they design the loopholes! Asmo

I voted all as well. A good mission requires a little bit of everything, with the mission designer focusing on his/her artistic/ofp strengths. @ The-Architect Sound files are great, but consider this part of it: There are those that don't have money to spend on voice actors and need more characters than they can find in their pool of "regular ofp friends". Also, I've found that when getting a group of people to help from the community, you get the help and sound files you need but at the cost of waiting a few months and having them vary as far as quality. (which is mostly unavoidable, what with everyone's varying situations) So IMO, good, in-depth voice samples for a bunch of characters usually adds months to the mission making process. I speak from experience and hope that my experience in these matters changes, but there it is, that's how it's been for me and many other mission designers that I know. Asmo P.S. Even when working with large mod teams it can be hard getting voice actors together.

You know you've played too much OFP when... -you watch a movie or tv show and say "That was a cool mission" -you wonder why your gun needs to be cleaned. -you look for the pause/break button to get a screenshot of something cool Asmo

Yeah, that's why I had a hard time finding it... Not sure why it isn't there, but I'll try to contact Soul_Assassin about it when/if I have the time. Asmo P.S. FDF is great, isn't it? I'm stuck on this one mission though, keep getting blown to smithereens!

OK, Kaliyuga found it for me: http://www.tacticalblunder.com/~hammer/release/RHS_T55Demo.Eden.rar Have fun! Asmo
-
I made a tank demo for RHS for their T-55's. People seemed to like it based on what I heard. I don't have a current download for it at this point, so if you can't find it, PM me. Asmo

They really are about to be released. We were going to texture a small piece of the bikes that got missed, but didn't have the unbinarized version and it's taken awhile to get it. Also the mission I'm making for it ran into a small snag. (that I've recently figured out) So, we aren't just teasing everyone. Good things take time and sometimes RL gets in the way of a FREE addon pack. That's why it's never a good idea to give a release date IMO. You'll all be happily riding around on hogs soon enough, I promise that much! Asmo

Yep, it lagged like hell but I eventually got in after all the security measures... You'd think I was accessing the security files for fort knox. lol I have the mission and am uploading it to OFPEC. I will explain that it's your mission as well. I'm glad I could help! Asmo
-
Greetings Winters! I'll try and grab it, then I'll upload it for ya at OFPEC. I only have 56k though, so it may take awhile... Asmo

Greetings! All of my released missions (except for my first one) feature BAS's Delta/Ranger pack, and some feature other BAS addons. My finished ones can be found at: http://www.ofpec.com (in the Missions section) or at http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/ (in the MOM section) And my beta ones can be found on this same board, look at the Feb 07 replies, threads are started by me. There was also a campaign I believe, called PMC Ranger Path. I think you can find that at The Avon Lady's website also. Asmo

Here's an old mission of mine that was never officially finished, but I got great beta testers and some feedback that it was pretty fun: http://www.ofpec.com/yabbse....start=0 Overview: You are a special forces sniper assigned to an Air Cavalry unit that is part of an offensive this morning. You are to assist in searching a town for weapons and food for the V.C. Â Resistance should be minimal.... Asmo *edit* Â Oh yeah, sorry I don't know where you can find that mission.... Â

@ Ash I agree I think the reason nobody mentioned that is because it's obvious that we're happy for those that were mentioned! (or at least I am) Soooo, congrats to all those that made the article! It must be real cool and everybody mentioned should have been. Asmo *edit* Specified who I was happy for -
lol Still getting blown up? Â hmmmm Are you getting the truck? Also, in my experience, the mines never set off the oil stuff... Â I just set them out past the wood fences! Â Â And it's a good idea to fall back to the big oil production facility after you kill the first wave of tanks and the truck. Â There have been others that say they love the layout of the refinery... Â Are you sure you placed the mines far enough away? Â Anyone else have this problem? Â Thanks, that's a good idea, I'll fix that. Â Thanks for the feedback! Maybe my hints will help you? Asmo *edit* Spelling!

Greetings everyone! Ok, thanks to deaddog for the suggestions, I now have an updated version of this mission! There was a problem if you did the objectives in the wrong order, so I fixed that now. So, this should be the final version unless anyone sees anything wrong! (thanks for all the great feedback so far everyone!) Here's V2_1! Changes/fixes: *If you attack any objectives out of order, you will be punished. Either the Officer won't show up for you to kill him, or the safe with the key will not be there when you need it. *Updated readme to include all beta testers. (if I missed anybody please let me know!) *Also added links to readme for the safe (thanks Avon for the link, now I have it straightened out and the correct version is on the EC site too), as well as links to these beta threads *That's it! You can find it here: http://home.earthlink.net/~asmodeus213/TLL2_1.zip (155 KB because I took out a screenshot) Thanks again everyone! Asmo

Cool! I'm surprised they missed some of those (IMO) obvious ones, but it's cool that the other sites/teams got recognized! (guess you can't include everybody right?) Do you perhaps have a link to the article? Asmo -
Good luck! Thanks for trying the new version! Hopefully it's a good difficultly level for you. Asmo
-
Yeah, these bad-ass mofo's and their rides should almost definately be ready sooner than that! Asmo P.S. The mission will involve biker gangs fighting each other for turf, money and girls. P.P.S. The bikers will have a default weapon as well! (most likely a BIS hand gun)

I'm at work so I must make this brief for now. I agree that it can be difficult to face the negative feedback when it's not presented constructively. I remember when we first released addons, most of what we got was complaints and we hated it. It was very discouraging and almost made us decide to quit releasing to public. Then, after time we adopted this method for our recent sub and Kalighat Island releases: (I'll explain more about why later) Check out our sub release thread: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....15;st=0 We didn't have any probs with "jerk" type feedback. (which we REALLY appreciate) It was actually quite the opposite. We received great feedback and bug reports, along with suggestions for helping us. However, had we received unfounded/unhelpful criticisms, no matter how much I would want to respond, I'd just ignore the fool and be happy that so many others appreciate our effort. That's all for now, I love the OFP community as a whole and admire the general maturity of everyone. Do your best to ignore the fools and just have fun, my fellow OFP addon/mission/etc creators! Asmo

LOL Triumph! Yep, everyone has their own style. My friend tried doing the same thing a few times when he was "alpha" testing it over here.. He never got very far though! *evil laugh* @ everyone The new version 1_0 is ready! Changes/fixes: *Overview: changed text as macguba suggested *Briefing: fixed the marker sizes, spacing in the notes, reorganized the pics *Made the mission easier by reducing the total # of enemies and giving the player more time to prepare a defense *Added a bit more sidechat *Added small things to make it more realistic (maybe you can tell me if you notice what) *Changed Rangers' route to attack and defend *Now all of your forces automatically attack New addon requirement: BAS MH47E http://www.ballistic-studios.com/ This will be used in the intro. I've started making it, so this addon is now required for the beta. (intro should be in next version) You can find the mission here: http://home.earthlink.net/~asmodeus213/BGV1_0.zip (113 KB) Thanks for the feedback so far everyone! I hope this version is a good difficulty level for most people. Asmo
