    New ONS Canadian units out!

Just when I thought the mod was dead, they come out and do this! Friggin' excellent! BTW: I've been isolated in CFB Petawawa for a few months, what the hell is this 'JAM' thing everyone is talking about?
  2. Assault (CAN)

Hope you all have a good summer.

Tomorrow I'm leaving for CFB Petewawa for a two month Army tasking. My official task is to be a demo section member for a primary leadership course. Which amounts to me playing the role of OPFOR when they need me to do so, and some other assorted "joe jobs". When I get back in September, I'm headed off to Nippising University which is WAYYY up north in North Bay, Ontario, where I'll be taking my B.A. Honours in History. Since I don't have a laptop yet, and the only computers I can use are at the school, I might not be able to spend alot of time on-line. What really sucks is that I can't play anymore games like OFP. Oh well, less distractions, I suppose. I hope you all have a safe and happy summer. P.S., Hey Tovarish, you live in the Ottawa area, right? Could you recommend any good bars? P.S.S. To any mods: Feel free to lock this when anyone who wishes to say good bye has had the chance to do so. Tyler

Hope you all have a good summer.

I should be able to post again in mid September, failing that, Thanksgiving (October in Canada). I wish. We just wear red arm bands and use regular C7's. The Canadian Army is too cheap for AK's (as bad as that sounds). Â Thanks for all the good wishes guys. I really appreciate it. Â Time for me to go and cram some more kit into my car, and go to sleep. I have about 7 hours of driving to do. See you in the fall. Tyler.

    Doped pilots

LOL, "speed", good one. Amphetamines have been in use by pilots since WW2. Now all of the sudden it makes pilots drop bombs without following procedure.

Allright, here's a link to Canada's DND OFFICIAL board of inquiry on the entire incident: http://www.vcds.forces.gc.ca/boi/intro_e.asp The U.S. Air Force also did an inquiry and both sides shared info and both came to the same conclusion. I watched it on the news when it came out, first the Canadian, then the U.S. one. Both arriving at the same conclusion: There it is, straight from the horses' mouth. Feel free to read the article, as it will answer any questions. I'm through arguing, as it only depresses me further. Say what you will, I don't care. Tyler One last link: Here

FS, you obviously don't read the news. It only looks like I repeat myself because you have been doing it the entire g*ddamned thread. Look up "Human Error" in the dictionary. Nope. But now it appears like they were wrong afterall. We'll save that for another thread.

And it's common sense that you are just spouting crap out of your head.......over and over again. Why on earth would the Air Force give it's pilots drugs that impare their judgement and performance? Why would they risk the lives of their own people and allies and millions of dollars worth of equipment for no gain? Common sense, right FS? As I and others have stated before, the U.S. Airforce has said that the pills had no effect on the outcome of the incident. Just go back and find the damned link, it's here somewhere, or on the CNN website. If the pills were actually a reason for the incident, then why where the pilots charged? And why is the pilot who dropped the bomb still facing charges? Common sense, right? Now I know why people don't like debating with you FS, you just spew out the same old claims over and over with absolutely no proof to back it up. I'm going to go bang my head against the wall for the remainder of the day, for it would be more usefull than sitting here trying to talk sense to you. Â

I see that flag alot at soccer games on T.V. I also beleive that the Royal Navy uses a that flag, or a version of it. How is it racist?

    Microsoft kills off sidewinder

I've had my 'Thrustmaster: Top Gun, Fox-2, Pro Shock' since Christmas, and everthing has been fine so far. I see no reason to buy M$ products, other than Windows and M$ Flight Simulator. FS 2004 is coming out soon, so it's time for another costly upgrade.

    Ghillie suit

I'm glad I don't live in Australia: A low dollar, funnel web spiders, funny accents, and overly strict gun laws. Remind me not to live there. Â Even regular army types have no use for a ghillie suit, unless they are recce or a sniper, or some such. In the field, I use burlap strips on my helmet and some on my webbing to help break up my pattern, the rest is all cam paint and natural foliage. Anyone who pays more for a ghillie than what it costs to buy old army bdu's, netting, shoe goo, elastics, and burlap, is either a sucker, some kind of wannabe, or has too much money. Or possibly a combination. This is what I was trained to do: You need: *old army clothes: Jacket, pants, field hat. *olive green netting, the spaces in the net should be about 1 or 2 inches wide. *spare olive drab fabric *shoe goo (a kind of strong glue) *coloured burlap strips (brown, green, tan, light green, etc. avoid black) *some elastics *some foam padding (optional) Basically, you take the old army clothes, attach the netting using the shoe goo to the back, arms, and legs. Sew on a hood to the jacket to cover your head, attach netting to it too. Sew in large pockets to the torso and upper legs, leave the top open. This is where you put in the padding, then you sew it up good. The padding helps if you are going to be crawling around everywhere and lying on your stomach for long periods of time. Take your burlap strips and cut them to be about 1 inch wide, and about 5-12 inches long. Fray the burlap as best you can, and begin tying it all on. This will take alot of burlap, and alot of time. Tie on some elastics at different intervals, this is for holding natural foliage. And lastly, before you start, make sure your suit is big enough to cover you when you are already wearing something under it. I'll make a suit when I'm ordered to. Bah, time for bed. 'luck with the suit mate. Tyler P.S. You might also want to sew on some canvas to areas of the suit that will wear out first, like the knees, elbows, and chest, etc. You should get a hefty supply of burlap to use, as the strips will fall out with use, and need to be replaced. One last thing: If you're feeling really highspeed/lowdrag, you can sew on some pockets to the ends of your sleeves, that way, you can keep some odds and ends in your pockets when you are in the prone, without having to reach down to get them and make excessive movement. *falls asleep on key board*

LOL, tex. Warin Said: I never said that the guy getting elected was a bad thing. Re-read my post. I was talking of the problems that some immigrants bring with them and our governments weak actions in dealing with them, in response to Mungers' post. Bad immigrants cause problems, just look at T.O. Sure, alot of native Canadians cause problems too, but we don't have a place to deport them to. Tyler

It's the same in Canada. Immigrants arrive and some are put up on welfare by our bleeding heart government. I have no problem with people that want to come here and carry their own weight, but if they don't, ship em' back. I beleive that Mohammed Farah Aidid's wife was living here in Canada with some of her children off of government money, all while U.S. troops were fighting her husbands militia in 1993 in Somalia. Good music

When I think of an armoured assault I always think of AC/DC. Try "Hard as a Rock" Check out strathconas.ca, go to the video section and download "C Sqn video from 2002". It takes a while to download, but it plays AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" along with regimental footage. There is some nice armoured vehicle shots about halfway through. P.S., Balschoiw, I like your taste in music. Tyler

    Have you guys seen this?

This might be an old joke that I missed out on, but try this anyways: Do a google search @ google.com, or google.ca, or whatever. Type in "weapons of mass destruction", without the quotes, and then click on the "I'm feeling lucky" button. See what comes up. I nearly wet myself. If you can't find it: Click Here. Enjoy.

    Xm8 to replace m16?

If it ain't broke don't fix it. The U.S. military won't be replacing the M-16 family anytime soon. Now that they have the A3 and A4 series, the M-16/M4 family may last another 15-20 years in service. Tyler

Us army infantry (11b) vs. usmc infantry (0311)

I agree. The CADPAT uniforms we use are similar to the MARPAT ones of the Marines. Though we had them first. Anyways, what's the point of having a marine force anyways? What can the marines do that the army couldn't, if it was given the task? Tyler

Why is it that every time I hear that line, my eyes want to roll to the back of my head and never come back? Jeez, the training range at Tarnak farms had been used as a training area for quite a while, and just about every night, training was being conducted by coalition forces at the range. Kandahar itself was lit up like a Christmas tree. Yet a pilot still feels the need to role-in in self defence from small arms fire while flying more than a mile high over an area that had been inactive for months. Doesn't he know that Russian made tracers are green and not red anyway? "Fog of War" my ass. Oh no, there go my eyes again...............

    The hulk

Hey, our dollar is worth 74 cents U.S. Up from 62 cents last year, so not bad at all. I guess.
  21. Assault (CAN)

    The hulk

Sure, if you're five years old. My friend dragged me into a theatre to see that movie, the only funny part of that movie involved the dentist's daughter. The rest was just annoying, Duuuuude. ;) Anyways, the Hulk would have been better had it not dragged on so long (2030 to 0045hrs). The military kit was OK, but I never knew an F-22 could fly to 90,000 feet with a giant attached to it, then that giant could survive a 90,000 foot free fall into San Francisco Bay. I also never knew that an RAH-66 Commanche could fly sideways and backwards @ 100 MPH, all in the space of a football field, or that a platoon of M1A2's that just happened to be in the middle of the desert could all fire shots and miss such a huge target. If the Hulk could move so fast, wouldn't it make sense to avoid the firefight entirely? Bah, damn Hollywood. The grasshopper-like jumps of the Hulk was a bit hokey as well, there a few laughs in the theatre upon seeing the hulk leap a few kilometres in a single bound. You could tell that the movie makers were trying to impress the audience with good visual effects to make up for the lack of a good storyline. But all things considered, it wasn't too horrible and it was an O.K. movie to watch, but I wouldn't pay $10.25 to see it again. Tyler

Do you have actual proof or personal knowledge of that? As it's been said, the USAF stated that the drugs had no effect in the bombing. Check the CNN archives. "Go Pills" have been used for a while and have been studied extensively. The pilots were neglegent, and the command structure won't punish them or make any changes in the system.

    Big brother is watching.

Scary, no? The image is part of an advertising campaign letting people know all London busses now have CCTV cameras to 'ensure safety of passengers and aid police in catching criminals'. Double plus un-good I'd just like to know what you guys think about the government putting up video cameras in public places. Do you think it keeps you safe? Or is it just another case of big brother? Personally, I wouldn't want that crap mounted all over the place. I expect to be watched by security when I walk into a private store or bank, but I don't want to be watched by government paid monitors when I'm out on the streets just minding my own business. Does anyone here feel the same way? Tyler

    Situation in the usa

LOL. Is that a Russian remake that Pet Shop Boys song, "Go West"? Â *sings* GOOOOO WESSSST! Â Hey, at least we are still better off than the Russians and the Chinese. So maybe the Red Book was a bad idea afterall.

    Doped pilots

The pilots were never officially forced to take the drugs. Though there was a possibility that the pilots could be declared unift to fly for the mission. The U.S. Airforce itself said that the 'go pills' had nothing to do with the incident. Just do a news search, you will see it. The lawyers brought up the use of the drugs in an attempt shift the blame from the pilots to the administration. Typical legal B.S., as per usual.
