I'm not sure how the other services work, but we only loaded 2 days worth of IFF mode4 codes on our aircraft. I figure that bmp's and the like would HAVE to have codes for longer, if they are deployed, but how would you handle troops being equipped too? Also, wouldn't safeguarding the equipment be more difficult? Sorry if I sound stupid on this, I've just never really thought of the application of IFF outside the little bubble I worked in:-)

I've had mixed results alt-tabbing as well, it seems to do alot of swapfile activity trying to get back to the desktop, so if you don't have a fair amount of ram or a decently fast hard drive you could have chronic problems as well. I won't even try to alt-tab over on my lower powered pc, as it crashes every time. The main gaming pc usually works fine alt-tabbing, but I still get the occasional crash.

Is the dispensing of varying sizes of motrin pills only unique to the US forces? they did the same thing in the Air Force..."sore throat? motrin.." .."missing limb? BIGGER motrin"...
Seemed to be the cure-all solution for most medical problems...
Other countries militaries have their own flavor of cure-alls?

Woohoo! thank you! Thats all I wanted to know:-)

All my audio issues in OFP were cured when I went into dxdiag.exe and turned off my audio accelleration from there.
Might be worth a shot.

I just wanted to bump this to keep it from getting buried.
Can anyone from BIS acknowledge this as a problem needing fixing?
Or am I missing something I need to do to keep this from happening?
-
Yup, were having the same prob
see This thread in troubleshooting
-
Anyone know of a way to block parsing xml's untill we can get a fix on this? It's not even worth running a 1.88 pub server if any guy w/this xml prob joins...
thanks for the info though Kegetys, it's good to know what the root of all this is, rather than "something with the tags"

-
We've had the same errors, where it disconnects everyone, and we have also had it crash completely...both seem related to xml tags though...
-
We're having some problems right now, where if anyone joins the server with an xml file defined in their profile, the server seems to try to refer to a nonexistant location in my ofp dir, then segfaults and crashes.

We got everything up and running last night, but with some issues, and now I'm backtracking to a fresh install of everything, and only stock maps to do some troubleshooting.
Lag/desync was gone, and while my MOTD worked fine, etc.., it still broadcast my system hostname instead of the name specified in the cfg. We also had some issues with the server not necessarily crashing, but suddenly disconnecting every player, then saying it was ready for clients.
As I say though, I need to rule out maps, etc..for that bit, so I'm going to start from a fresh baseling and do some more testing.
I can't tell you about performance differences between 1.88w32 and linux 1.88, since we just switched from w32 1.46, but I can tell you that pings were much lower, and server fps were considerably higher. Once I nail down the source of the "crashes" I'll be a very happy camper.
-
any chace you could host those files somewhere Kegetys?
I cannot run the 1.88 on w32, so I wont be able to generate the files needed.
On the plus side for the linux ded, it compiled perfectly under the newer GCC this time around :-)
-
Huge thank you to BIS for 1.88 linux!
-
fdisk'd, formatted, and reinstalled XP, no luck, THEN I fdisk'd, formatted, and installed w2k, THEN I fdisk'd, formatted, and installed W98SE, same thing. All vanilla installs, no extras, etc...
And for the mods that keep directing folks to this thread as a solution, there isn't one here (at least for me)
-
He IM'd me
Thanks benu! that file worked perfectly.
Still trying to find out why it can't find cc1plus, as it's there and installed correctly, but for now the server is working finally:-)
-
*bump* since my edit didn't bump the post
-
I'm still having some issues compiling this...
I've seen others with similar error messages, wondering if anyone can help me in my linux ignorance:-)
sh server-1.85b.shar
Operation Flashpoint Resistance dedicated server 1.85b
x - creating lock directory
x - extracting server (binary)
x - extracting tolower.cpp (binary)
Converting OFP directory:
gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `cc1plus': No such file or directory
server-1.85b.shar: line 147979: ./tolower: No such file or directory
Is there something obvious I'm overlooking?
Thanks in advance!
-
Which version of gcc worked for you? having the same issues compiling....
-
I hope some of the suggestions in that thread work for him, but none of them did for me, I'm still unable to run Res in sockets

So Radishville has been running 1.46 till now, hopefully the upcoming patch will shake things loose

-
I agree that intros can be helpful in a MP map.
As long as it's short and helps a new player learn what the goal is, etc.., then it saves me and any other folks from having to explain what to do every time the map comes up.
I'll sit through a 10-15 second intro every time if it helps a new player become a focused, useful team member instead of having them stand around in respawn, or wander aimlessly about the map.
My 2c :-)
-
I e-mailed Suma monday with all the info on how it's done, etc...
We really didn't need to make this public, uggghhh

Yeah, I worked 141's for awhile, and you would be amazed at all the fun stuff you could do to mess with the pax (passengers).
Probably one of the most amusing ones I saw, was on the day before christmas, and for the holidays, the base would send 2 141's out, 1 to each coast, for the base personnel to get a ride home, and save some cash. Every year they would all be lined up in front of the aircraft with their carry-ons with them, waiting to board the aircraft.
Well, an interesting fact is that jet engines are usually "hung" on the wing, by bolts that would scare the crap out of you if you saw how small they were:-) in this case, the engines on a 141 are held up by 3 bolts, each probably 3/4" wide. Anyhoo, since the engine mounts were right at the top of the pylon, it's possible to push on the side of the engine, and actually get it to swing from side to side. (see where I'm going with this?)
So while all the base personnel were standing in front of the aircraft waiting to get on, one of the maintainers (wasn't me, but I watched him), went up to the #2 engine, got it rocking pretty good, then looked at the passengers, and walked away, shaking his head like there was something very very wrong. Some of the passengers, after seeing this, started to ask more and more questions, about why the engine was about to fall off, and noone was doing anything about it, getting worse and worse until they had to bring them all back in, explain what was happening, while they made 3 engine mechanics inspect the engine to make sure nothing was really wrong with it.
The fellow that got the engine shaking ended up getting a letter of reprimand, and had to work through the holidays as a punishment, and I'll bet there are still people that thought a catastrophe was narrowly avoided.

Yeah, i've scoured the registry for any references of my NICs, removed em, and installed a totally different manufacturer nic in the machine, removing the other 2, still nothing...
I had a similar problem with ofp and 2 nics on w2k server, though disabling 1 of them fixed the problem in that case.
I think I'm going to try reinstalling XP again, this time with only 1 nic, and see what happens...
