    Lags would HELP with troubleshooting, at least I think they would... If I knew how long my server was up before it crashes, I could look for trends... If the server crashed whenever the same person joined, I would be able to ban the child. If the server crashed in the middle of the same map every time, I would be able to take it out of rotation. Not to mention the other gains in making more of a community for multiplayer, like parsing a page w/stats, or being able to review logs to weed out the llamas/problems children... I really think that logs would help out the DS admins alot, but thats just my 2c

    100 player server

    To stick my neck in this really quick, yes, we have had 40 players on the server, but it was on a simple map, and the FPS suffered pretty badly. My current bottleneck is actually processing power, the GHZ processor is maxed out with about 26-28 players, so I currently have players limited to 20-22 to keep flying possible on some of the larger maps. BigQed, as far as I'm concerned, your server has set the standard for OFP servers. The only real differences between our servers are the types of maps played, and the hours they are operational. (not having my own ISP, i need to save some bandwidth on my measley T-1 for my users during the day :-)) Many of the players that frequent my server either play on mine, or yours, no others, so I'd say that I at least compare to yours:-)

    All I ask, is that if BIS puts in the "1st person to join gets admin rights" bit, give the server operator the option to disable that feature, it's something I don't want, especially after seeing how tribes1 fared with that system.

    Hehehe, well the results are a bit messed up, I DID have a few downloads going at the time, so they are a bit low I'm afraid :-) Test running..Downloaded 60900bytes in 771ms Downloaded 696000bytes in 4266ms First guess is 1305kbps fairly fast line - now test 2mb Downloaded 1679100bytes in 9654ms Upload got ok 1 bytes uploaded Uploaded 1bytes in 240ms Upload got ok 1 bytes uploaded Uploaded 1bytes in 180ms Upload got ok 1 bytes uploaded Uploaded 1bytes in 181ms Upload got ok 50000 bytes uploaded Uploaded 50000bytes in 651ms Upload got ok 750000 bytes uploaded Uploaded 750000bytes in 4516ms ** Speed 1391(down)/1383(up) kbps ** (At least 27 times faster than a 56k modem) Finish. Now if only I could get this speed at home too :-)

    Another helful thing you can do is to run the ofp commandline as a service using firedeamon, or similar program, and aslo to disable dr.watson logging in the registry, which will at least save you time dumping logfiles. I had the same problem with the task not really ending, and having to force it to end, but stopping and restarting the sevice has saved me from having to go through that hassle more often. Just my 2C

    Is there a new #monitor command to display the up/downstream bandwidth? I only get FPS on my server now after 1.30, which creates some troubles with tuning my maxmsgsend and minbandwidth settings to keep the server fps high, and without it i'm a bit lost I'm afraid.. my current settings are MaxMsgSend = 128 MinBandwidth = 256000 my max players are currently at 22, and my fps goes VERY low (14-20) with a full server. this is on a full t-1 up and down with no other apps running on the server. Server is a ghz compaq DL380 w/1gb ram, and has a gigabit link to the router, so I don't think the bottleneck is there. I don't think the maps are very taxing, and we don't play w/ai players in the game, or obscene amounts of air/ground units, so I'm wondering if these settings need to be tweaked one way or the other. Am I missing something obvious? Can someone give me a nudge in the right direction? thanks!

    Fade message

    When someone joins my server and it states the fade message, can I be assured that they have a hacked exe, etc..or do legit copies still produce that message sometimes? Either way, I realize that supposedly their gameplay and accuracy goes to ####, but does it affect the server gameplay at all? Does it make all shots ingame less accurate , or does it only alter the reporting model for just that player? And IF the fade message is only coming into play with people using nocd cracks, trainers, etc...why even let them connect at all? The server obviously recognizes that player as having something not right, why even let them connect to play? Just curious, any help/explanations to clarify this would be appreciated BIS!     Server Tools

    Not sure how hard these would be to impliment in a future patch, but I think they would help the multiplayer community a great deal. Logs: Need 'em! If we had server activity logs, we could not only parse them into a nice usable stats page for players to view, we could use them in troubleshooting errors, or even reviewing at a later time to identify problem idiots on the server to ban them. Voice: not my bag baby! Although the ability to use voice would be a great thing to have during matches, or some other organized function, on a public server it ends up degrading to either listening to some 12 year old kid swearing constantly, or someone with an open mike and static. the lack of a mute function is a bit troubling, but I can get by that by not even configuring my voice at all. BUT, I would REALLY like a server side .cfg command to disable voice usage on my server completely. I would prefer the players on my server use their own voice option (RW, etc..) instead of tying up even more of my bandwidth, or inflicting 12 year old rants on my more mature players. So what say ye? Pretty Please?

    Yes, please! It seems like we admins have even less in the way of tools for the dedicated server than we did before the patch. Being able to tune OFP's performance would be a great help.

    Gee, now that sounds like a perfectly reasonable thing to do every time I need to ban someone... If only there was some INGAME support for administrating the server, like every other game on the market.... ####, just a LOG would be nice, it could log ips, joins, leaves kills, etc, and could be parsed to get some nice stats for players to look at on a website......

    can anyone elaborate on this? We are having a chronic idiot coming onto the server spamming voice comms. I think I have his #userlist number, but i cant seem to get ban.txt to work..does it work for #'s? On the same note, is there a way to disable voice comms on my server?

    How to name Missions

    Here here! Since OFP is pretty crappy about showing mission parameters, can you map authors please at least include min/max players in the name of your maps? I'm having a #### of a time tracking down maps to support the 20-30 players usually on my server, and I have to wade through alot of 8 player maps to find any. Thanks for the consideration!     Is there "camping" in OFP?

    The only thing I would call objectionable camping, would be if someone hung out right at the opponents respawn, and mowed people down before they even had a chance to get their bearings, much less defend themselves. Other than respawn camping, I just don't see it as a bad thing.
