Nothing extrodinary anymore is the constant note in the news that a bomb from WWII has been found somewhere in town (usually if they take away after-war houses). Funny to know that any appartment you can rent may still be built on a heavy bomb!

"For the first three months of the book's release, Moore says, "I did not appear on a single broadcast network (NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX) show other than one appearance on "Politically Incorrect" – which on that particular night did not air until 15am. Since then I have appeared only on the network show "The Today Show" – and only if I agreed to appear with a rightwing author (as they did not want to put me on alone, even though by then my book had been number one for four weeks). The book has been completely ignored by every single show on NPR and PBS, and 95 percent of the daily papers in the country, including the New York Times have refused to review it."  (opps lost the link, go search on google ) --------------------------------------------------------------- .So, when do you get to see it? United Artists bought the film for the U.S. and is planning on releasing it this fall. But don't hold your breath. I hate to sound a note of pessimism or warning, but my experience this year in fighting to get my book released (from a publisher that was hell-bent on NOT releasing it) has made me justifiably wary of anyone who says they will distribute my work. I wish the good people at UA all the best....have to say that things have turned around a bit for me in the past few months. I have no one else to thank for this except for all of you. Against incredible odds that included a publisher who demanded I choose between censoring my work or destroying the 50,000 copies they had printed, you made "Stupid White Men" the most-read non-fiction book in the country – and it remains at or near the top of every best-seller list in the U.S. and Canada for the 15th week in a row. (Michael Moore online diary) --------------------------------------------------------------- ... As weeks and then months went by, he engaged in an ongoing debate with his publisher over whether the book would be released, unless he "toned down" his dissent and changed the title and content. When his alternate title -- Bring Me the Head of Antonin Scalia -- and refusal to change his commentary were not acceptable to the publisher, he was told the book would be pulped. The book finally was released for sale, he said, because of the efforts of an unlikely hero -- a librarian who went to one of his speeches, during which he described his plight. She posted a message in an Internet librarian chat room, from which it was forwarded on to librarian listservs, and soon Moore's story became a widely publicized First Amendment issue. The publisher caved. And was rewarded for it. Stupid White Men is now in its 15th printing and "selling at a faster pace than Harry Potter," Moore said, adding, "Thank God for the Internet, this egalitarian device that lets us speak to each other without the filters. Our problem now is to get the Internet into the hands of people who have no money... You know it can be pretty hurtful if someone insults your family just because they were german. This makes it especially insultive if some of them actually showed a lot of courage (maybe even more than you would have showed). and I consider my grandpa to be one of them. And as most germans he suffered under terrible poverty during and after the war. Despite that he was able to build several factories and brought back some glory to a town that was totally blown to dust. I dont know what you can expect from someone during this era but in my belief he did as much as someone can do with courage. My family has a long and prosperous history but I can assure you that you wont find any political activities from their side nor a tiny military background. So this "boat anchor" you are talking about is not tied around my neck, the opposite is the case, he gave me opportunity to speak up instead of feeling ashame for him. And I hope I can do the same for my grandchildren!

It is not as easy as that, unfortunately! The most bloody school-shooting ever happened in Germany (only a year ago)! And we got some of the strictest gun laws in europe!

But luckily you can support my thesis that the german border is still full of that WWII garbage. I thought they gonna think I am telling them fantasy stories

Oh I forgot to add that I live right on the border to Holland and Belgium. My city was basically blown to dust in WWII!

"Dig, bastard dig!" lol It is gonna take me a few years to get a tank out of the sand! But what I found was a potato-masher when I was around 9 and I wanted to throw it into fire that my brothers had made in the forrest. My brothers stopped me and I got a few mints from the police for handing in a grenade. i wonder what they did with it, I mean you cant just throw it into the garbage. Oh, my brother went into the forrest behind our house one day telling us he wanted to find a treasure. Well he returned with a box of silver-cutlery! It was from our neighbours who hided it there during the war. When he returned it to that neighbours (the lady was around 75 by then) he too only got a box of mints for cuttlery worth several thousand dollars!

Just go to his forum and you will be surprised. And the funny thing is there are tough differences between ordinary gun owners and hardcore NRA members. The main arguments to come forward with are: 1. Nazi Germany had strict gun laws 2. Weapons prevent more crime than they kill 3. The second amendment gives them the right 4. When England banned guns the criminality rates went up 5. The right of self-defense They try to tackle most of my counterarguments but the only one they couldnt counterargue so far was: so guns are better than no guns why dont we allow guns in aeroplanes then?

I am stuck right now. A few weeks ago I was better In Soldier of Fortune than most clans but they got sooooo good I pretty much suck right now. Tried OFP yesterday and yes I had the TK problem as well. So I bought a new game "New World Order" which is pretty cool but so full of bugs (even after 1.2) that I couldnt play singleplayer and barely multiplayer and returned it to the store. When I returned it I didnt have much time to choose a new one so I took "Tactical Ops" which is the worst game ever. If someone wants to have it please tell me your address. I am not kidding I am gonna send it to you (I even pay the stamps). I am off to Malta next week and so I would throw it away otherwise! In case you want it just e-mail me your address!

Yeah, the Nazis took a lot of (one may forigive me) relativly nice and traditionally germanic symbols and abused them. It is ashame cause many of them look cool (I am not a NAZI, please dont get me wrong). And yes they are banned in Germany (no exception even for modellers) and I am happy about it. You can get tough punishments for owning any of those symbols. And the state has a tough obligation to erase any Nazi-graphiti!

I agree to a certain extent. He made this film to get acknowledgement from the people who support him anyway. But on the other way he pushes the two parties further away from each other: He ridicules gun owners (only to a certain extent). Michael Moore however did a good effort cause when I discussed on his Forum I noticed how strong those NRA people are. It is amazing. You find 80% NRA members on his site and only 20% /mostly europeans) who are against it. Dont forget NRA is the RICHEST organisation in New York and the did a good job to provide its members with propaganda. the holocaust would have never happened if Germany wouldnt have had so strict laws is one of them. It took me several pages to proof the opposite but they still got 1000 other premade propaganda to fight with. Anyhow, it is kind of a hard job to fight them if they know you are german, cause then they give you this "fucking Nazi" counter-insults. And then you gotta waste hours to proof to them you are not a Nazi. The film was basically CORRUPTED in the US and barely shown in any theatre. Michael Moore was ONLY invited to one singe TV-interview. Isnt that ridiculous? His book "stupid white men" was also rejected and he had to find Canadian and German support to reprint it. It is out now in German and French but not in english. I realy laugh my a*s*s* of when I see how much of a boycott he has to face in the "land of the free"

One of the most frustrating missions for me was probably the one where you have to find the scud near the end of the campaign as part of the spec-ops team. I was stuck on it for a long while, and then one of the Cobras spotted it and destroyed it . To this day I don't know where the damn scud is .<span id='postcolor'> I dont know whether we talk about the same mission, is it the one where you have to blow up the Scuds which is surrounded by 2million tanks and soldiers? Well, I dont know how anyone could have done that one without finding a gap in the AI. How I did it? Well I noticed that when you take a car and drive around the forrest and right through their camp (if you survive that) then you just have to park your car behind the scud and everyone will stop shooting at you (in case they dont just shoot anyone trying to get around it, no big deal). Then you have almost endless time to place a bomb  and dissapear. I used a simillar trick in OFP Resistance. I took a car and drove right into a hangar (drove over an entire squad) and made all my team disembark. Then you make your team lie flat on the ground and anyone who tries to get into the hangar will be shot imediately. Civilisation III You find a nice piece of land. You start building city after city and think you are a great great developer and then you make contact with other civilisations that are 10 times more advanced than you are. Then you got 2 options: start all over again or watch them deserting you empire city after city, unit after unit!

Would you like to have sea-view or land-view. The guys in the front didnt need a slide, cause they could have simply jumped into the water, but the guys getting out in the back they needed one not to fall on the rocks! But hell the slide is in the front!

What, he is your bouncer? well I was just ......you cant dooo that, I am honorable man......make him take his hands off me...." Anyhow, my opinion on the issue is the following. Each and every forum has its purpose. This forum is for discussion and guidance but not directly seen as a resource-centre. The more you functions this forum inhales the more you will steal visitors from other independant Sites. If you wish to centralise the entire OFP community, fine, but if you want to keep the variety flourishing than stick to those things you started with and let other people get the credit for what they have done. If you need addresses of where you can find missions then I would be glad to send them to you! Â (even though I am not realy a OFP-editing champion). But noone ever listens to me anyway

I didnt buy the demo I went into the store and took the "judge by cover" approach. During the first training mission I thought "spare me". But when the first real mission started i thought HOLY SHIT, I am holding a real M16 in my hands, that thing is difficult to handle so I am probably the neird on the battlefield, I better keep my head down. Which game can make it better than that? Which game makes you feel you are not good enough and you better try to stay away from action? "after a few missions I thought the game was scripted cause I stayed alive and everyone around me was pretty dead, I was useless, my gun shots didnt realy hit anythintg. But it is funny that you realy learn in that game and improve. The best mission fearing for your life is the one where you have to escape, damn, that hiding in the forest in the morning was so unspectacular, but the best tension I ever felt!

Would you be willing to die for your country?
Albert Schweitzer replied to Sam Samson's topic in OFFTOPIC
willing to die for my country? No way! But it would probably happen while I try to save it.
