Bush searches to destroy what might cause harm to the US. He has identified 2 targets:Threats by nations (axis of evil) armed with WMD and threats by terorist organisations. Or as he puts it: destroying evil. During this mission he has caused 2 wars. What we can say untill now is that none of the 2 wars has succeeded in initial objectives. Afghanistan: destroy terorist network of Bin Laden. Iraq: Destroy WMD Both missions have failed miserably. First of all you cant destroy evil cause destruction is its nourishment. The war against an arab country was the best free recruitment-promotion for Al Quaida. Money is streaming back in and large scale operations are being planned (whether with or withour Bin Laden... in the arab world a dead leader becomes an immortal symbol). Iraq. The supposed WMD have caused war 2. What the Bush described as "100% assuring intelligence information" now slowly turns out to be a deliberately misinterpreted information. The accusals that BUSH faces in the US by CIA officials Blair will soon face in the UK. Blix was sceptical about the information presented to him during the UN council and he was right to do so. Of course the Texas-boys were convinced that the UN-inspectors dont find anything cause they were to sensitive in their way of searching the country. It would need a strong hand and force to make those weapons visible. Two missions failed. Their initial objectives were re-interpreted as "liberating the people". But the problem with war is that it leaves behind scarfs. The objectives have failed and people died. Who pays the bill? Does no american feel he is responsible for voting Bush, Bush having caused a war, and this war has killed people without the intended result? Two failed missions and you still think he succeed just because he won a war? If an agressor simply wants to WIN A WAR then this is either a crusade or Lebensraum-gewinnung. I am still failing to see your reasoning. It is time for Hillary to pay back what the republicans have done to her husband.....It is WHITE-HOUSE-TIME!

Isnt it time to change the name of this thread into THE IRAN THREAD lets be honest. The countdown to a war in Iran is a stable as an atomic watch. The US administration wont bother bringing back home all equipment and troops if it sees another "opportunity" to make us of them. The fixed-costs of the war were immense and must pay off  Iran countdown begins

Hidden and dangerous 2 is not an ego-shooter....it is called 3D-action, just like Thief 3... I can see the difference. And Operation Flashpoint is far away from the list of upcoming games.
-
Yeah...remember that.... meep meep whhhrrrrooooaaaaaaammm. hohohoheho... hohoheho... toc toc toc (??? anyone) By the way FarCry is the first real attempt by german developers (Crytec) to enter the Ego-shooter genre. So far german have were always hiding in the niche of strategic games such as Anno 1503 a.s.o. This game will set the roots for future projects Made in Germany. The game looks good to me (and yes in Polynesia, where the game is set, the water is more than just transparent), the characters are indeed a bit 2d ish. But the opponents work in groups and intelligently look for cover (can hide and retreat). I dont like the gun sounds! But there will be so many great games out during the next year...it will face more than just tough competition of established titles. Lets just list them up: Breed, Doom3, Half Life 2, Counterstrike Condition Zero, Duke Nukem For Ever, Halo, Elite Force 2, STALKER, SW-Jedi Knight 3, Team Fortress2, Tron 2.0 Now that is A LOT of competition

Lol, I love those customer stories. Reminds me of when I was 18 and working at the Reception of a good hotel in Paris (Grand Hotel Interconti l'Opera) while studying french for a few months. To our special VIP guests we could offer strict INCOGNITO status, which would make their unofficial stay in Paris basically unknown to the public and press. One of the guests who requested it was an arab who was involved (well guess) in the oil business. He came to Paris with his brother and both took different suites at different floors. About 20 minutes after CHECK IN at the Hotel his brother came down into the lobby and asked me for the room number of the arab oil-manager. As it was my duty I had to look at my computer and when I saw the big INCOGNITO on the screen I had to say: sorry...but this gentleman is currently not staying at our hotel...have you aksed at the Hotel de Crillon, do you want me to call them for you? Of course the guy got anoyed.. "He is my brother....I sat in the plane with him..I sat in the taxi with him...I even walked through this door together with him...all I did not hear was the room number that he has. I had to stick to my version...we always have to...noone ever cracked our INCOGNITO status...not a journalist and not a wife searching for his husband who has an affair. But at that moment I was in doubt whether I was doing the right thing. SHould I give this poor guy the room number..why the hell not. No I didnt and he couldnt believe it and propably thought we are the most imcompetent persons that ever stood behind a reception or that there must be a spelling mistake or a computer error. An arab usually is not the kind of person that causes great trouble and never wants to criticise staff in front of their managers but the poor guy had to ask for our manager and explain the issue to him without putting me down. The Front office manager looked at the screen and I pointed at the INCOGNITO.... all he could say was....well I am afraid but right now you are the only person in this hotel that carries this name sir...but have you tried to call the Interconti near the Louvre or maybe you should try the Hotel de Crillon. That was the end of it...the poor arab couldnt believe that even the management was too stupid to find his brother. Of course they met later on in the lobby bar and in the beginning both were confused but when we explained it to them I got my 50 dollar tip!

A Federation does not necessarily be all embracing. It could simply mean the establishing of an economical federation of states. And this is what the Germans are most probably aiming for. All the rules and regulations that might appear ridiculous to you (standardising the size of the "european condom") facilitate the trade between the countries...sorry...I mean States. "Standardisation" is THE vanilla strategy to foster market-compatibility. This consolidation however should not include cultural aspects. Europeans are too diverse...they are proud of their diversity and fear the american culture which to them is represented by WALT DISNEY and McDonalds, both considered as culture-killers. In terms of economical goals the american solution is definetly more promising. You develop one single product and you can sell it to all people in your country. In europe the nations are too diverse. Without a great product variety that adapts to national or cultural differences (and prides) a company is unlikely to succeed in more than one country. Here the european union is on the right way. the single currency already eliminated the exchange rate risk (not being able to forsee the exchange rate and therefore not being able to forecast cashflow). However political decisions have also to be taken. The imigration laws must work for ALL european countries so that the police forces can interact and apply common law. The same is true for subsidies, which should give equal chances to all european industries. Finnland has nothing to fear. Cause their strengths are unique and only few countries can compete with them. They are just afraid of foreigners (as all small nations).

and for all lefty patriots (ops..for a conservative those two terms dont quite fit together) Bushflash and the rest of the garbage

There are many thesises out there about the present state of Bin Laden. The most appropriate seems to be the one by Ghislaine Alleaume. So far this is the most sophisticated person being involved in solving this mistery question. Source? Spiegel! This week 21/19.5.03 page 111, 113. But you find other texts about this lady also online, you googleoholic

So what. Now that we shut our reactors (and sent all the radioactive garbish over to france) we buy the electricity from foreign nuclear plants. Our alternative sources of energy are called "energy-imports". Reminds me of stalker... Know zhe game, anyone?

Of course. This is how you test the intelligence of monkeys. You put a miror in front of them and see wether they recognise themselves. Not many animals can do so. Gorrillas and Killerwhales are two I know. It is believed that self-recognition is the main precondition for creativity.

I believe that we depend on the world community more than ever. What has brought down the terorist cells since 9/11 was the intense cooperation of secret services all over the world. The amount of secret information being shared determines its success. Germany did not beat its terorists with brutal force but with a technology called: Rasterfahndung. This means creating a universal profile of how a potential terorist should be, including interests, travelling behaviour, income.... etc. And then thousands of BND computers (imagine it in the seventies and 80 ies) screened through the entire german population and picked the needles from the hay stacks. It worked. With the technology we have nowadays this tool is rather scary . If countries would learn and be able to share intelligence to that degree than we would have a far better chance to react proactively. And I believe that it would be much easier to create a profile of a potential islamic terorist than of a german RAF terorist. Unfortunately many countries in the middle east, the country of origin of modern terorism, do not have the means to provide intelligence. Here they would need support. And considering the cost of 9/11 to the world economy I believe all of us could spare a dollar to support  intelligence-work of the saudi arabian secret service, dont you think? </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">High altitude bombings won't help.  <span id='postcolor'> I wouldnt be so concerned about what is being used as countermeasure but rather who organises it. Once we have the necessary intelligence we could/should apply brutal force. And yes even a high altitude bombing can work. Bin Laden  at least lost his arm in a bomb attack and the common believe is that he died of an infection in the amputation-wound. BUT I rather trust the national army of the country where the terorists are being found than an american rapid-reaction force. The liberation of the hostages in Algeria is one example of how well those armies are capable to seek and destroy terorist foxholes. Algright, they might have heavier losses than if we use a professional western rapid reaction force. But since 9/11 it seems to be legal to think with double standards. AND WHAT WE DONT NEED. is this "we have the proof, we have it on satelite photos, but we cant give it to you in order to protect our sources." All of us know now how much worth those sources seemed to have been. Not a penny.

I think the best way to destroy terorism is by counterattacking their strengths. And in fact the war in Afghanistan and Iraq wasnt so bad for Al Quaida after all. They had to (and were able to) reorganise the anatomy of their organisation. All invesitgative effort so far has failed to understand its new structure. It has divided itself into even more indepedant cells and a new network for cash-revenues. I think that the conflict with palestine is the utmost important to stop the flow of young recruits into Alquaida.

Quite funny to imagine...... a SS uniform with a label "Made in Japan"

The worst part is really the food. In Europe, you order something you think will be safe, like a club sandwich. Then it comes out with raw ... fish instead of turkey, and it's swimming in mayo." How rude. Never seen a sandwich with salmon and horseradish sauce?

Cause the Wehrmacht in WWII was an ordianry military force that had no ideological boundaries with Hitler. In the later years that changed when ideology was a necessary tool to hold up motivation. Unlike seen in all Hollywood film no german Wehrmacht soldier raised his straight arm as a standard procedure. They kept their ordinary military greetings untill late in the war. Also, dont forget that it was the Wehrmacht  that planned the  Assassination of Hitler. Most german officers were spoken free of the Nuerenberg trials and later on served in the Bundeswehr. You can accuse them of many things, but to proof ideological collaboration is a dangerous thing. For those of you that speak german I add the point of accusal of the Nuerenberg trials: 1. Verschwoerung gegen den Weltfrieden 2. Planung, Entfesselung und Durchfuehrung eines Angriffskrieges 3. Verbrechen und Verstoesse gegen das Kriegsrecht 4. Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit For any soldier of the Wehrmacht I would accept point 2b (durchfuehrung eines Angriffskriegs). But then again what about US soldiers in Iraq?. Non of the allied considered the Wehrmacht as a criminal organisation. Those were the  NSDAP, SS, SA, Reichsregierung, Generalstab, Gestapo und Sicherheitsdienst. The two terms Bundeswehr and Wehrmacht arent so opossing after all. Both include the term defense. Just the term "power" was eliminated after WWII. Anyway, "powerfull" would have been a pretty ridiculous description of what was left of it afterwards.

There are few actors who can ruin a movie like he can, I simply can't understand how anyone allows him in. Take for instance the rather brilliant Dracula movie by Francis Ford Coppola. Gary Oldman gives a mindblowing performance, and so does Anthony Hopkins.. then comes Keanu Reeves; a surfer dude trying to play a classic gentleman and failing so bad that I had to pluck toenails out of my heels after watching it. What is wrong? How does it happen that such an utterly talentless actor gets to ruin otherwise good movies?<span id='postcolor'> You could say the same about Brad Pitt and colleagues but they somehow managed to get the job done.
