How can i hold a conversations between two units..
Aculaud posted a topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
There didnt seem to be anything helpful in the unoficial command reference, so i'm trying ye old faithful (here). I want to hold a conversation between two people using titles. It would be nice to include one small camera movement, but i know nothing about scripting such things, or linking those scripts to triggers and waypoints and such. Heres the situation: You are deployed behind enemy lines (this is the mission i'm making), and you are supposed to meet these two guerillas in this town. One died that morning, so the talking starts with him saying "hi" and you saying "i was told id meet two guys. wheres the other one?" and then he says "Oh, this is him right here (with the camera shifting over to show a grave right next to you both), We lost him this morning." and then it goes from there. At the end of the conversation, i also want it to auto save. I know how to do this otherwise, but i dont know how to make it wait for the talking to be over. I havent the slightest clue how to do this. Any help would be greatly apreciated. -
And of course they're probably watching this thread right now, so now that wont work. While they're here, hey Sith, you think this happened the way that guy who wrote Avon said so? Placebo, any thoughts?

ok, well in that case, you should really consider, just for the games sake, having a manual zoom on it with its current zoom level as the maximum, so your field ov view isnt staggeringly limited at closer ranges

Sith, i dont think your lasers going to do a very good job of designating air strikes

yeah, i just tried it in game, and it said the script could not be found. I dont think it changed the file type. Its ok though, i think i can acomplish what i need using a game logic and a bunch of waypoints. Thanks everyone! -

Artillery - need help designating targets

I prefer just a couple LGBs to five minutes worth of smaller shells. Anyway, what i really need is a ralistic way of designating the targets. Have you ever played a mission called Dead By Dawn? I'm not looking to plagurize anything, but that mission had a very good way of designating targets. Not sure how the author did it, but something like that would work great. -
Artillery - need help designating targets

I'm trying to make it so that you can designate artillery strikes if you find any armored units in this mission i'm working on. I'm using a camcreate trigger to spawn a laser guided bomb over the unit(s) that will have artillery used on them. The problem i'm having is how to designate the strike. Right now, i'm just using a Knowsabout trigger so that when you identify a target, the camcreate command activates and down comes the bombs. This is a problem because, what if you get up close to a target by some chance, identify it and kill yourself with your own arty strike. this is a sniper based mission, so i dont expect this to be a problem, but theres always a chance. Ususally, i just use my binoculars to identify a unit by right clicking on the target, but i'm finding that to be a little too Poor-mans-method. I was thinking of maybe some option i could add to the action menu that would make itself available when you identify a target or something. Any ideas would be helpful -

ok, cool. this looks great. The only thing thats left is how to get some text commands in there. If you could tell me how thats done, i'll be in buisness. -
Yeah, he's gone.

One more thing i was going to ask you about, HuBBa. Are mildot scopes really that powerful? I know you love the super long range stuff, but youve only got the thing zeroed at 300 meters out. It would still be doing pretty good at even half the zoom level youve got it at, which would also be more helpful for 100 meter shots, and other shorter range situations. Or, you could just make it manually zoom in and out like youve got on your barrett. This would really help.

Nah, i dont think you get too involved with your games, thats actually a good idea. So, define "Good Headphones". You mean the ones that practicly cover the whole sides of your head, or would some nice Sonys do the trick?

I was curious about the term Minutes Of Angle. What exactly does it refer to?

Every time i try to join one, it goes through the normal routine, and then it just gives me an error message that says password required. It doesnt even give me the chance to enter a password, it just boots me.

It sounds to me like a lot of you are using the cockpit view. Why? third person is soooooooooooooooo much easier when flying something! I learned to fly the day i started trying with choppers, and it took maybe a little longer with planes. You wont catch me fumbling to use my 30mm on the a10 very often, but i still fly like a pro. Its all about the third person.
