Question for bis or someone really knowledgable
Aculaud posted a topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I un-PBO'd the single mission 09:Sniper Team, and found a Russian soldier wearing a NATO uniform. I met him in the mission and (killed him) he looked exactly like a NATO soldier, weapon, uniform and everything. So, is this enough to be able to slip in behind enemy lines and not be acknowledged as an enemy? Could i make a mission where youre a spy and you operate amoungst the enemy? -
Never heard of the pj's. Who are they?

Sounds good to me. But i heard something about changing something in the mission.sqm where you can do things like make civillians into resistance soldiers, and i guess make soldiers look like they're on the opposite side by their uniforms and equipment. How is this done? -

Ya know, iv been thinking. The reason i thought Ghost Recon sucked was because it was so short range, but i saw something last weekend that made me think different. I went on a little trip with my dad, his girlfriend, and her daughter (Chk-Chk! Â Â Â ). We went to this place called Hurricane Ridge in north western Washington. We got up on a look-out up on this small mountain, and the fog was so thick that you could barely see for 20 feet in some places. It just made me think of Ghost recon, and how realistic its quite frequent weather conditions really are in some places. So, i just wanted to exclaim that iv seen the light that CQB situations really do exist out-doors away from urban areas. Thanks for your time.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (DayGlow @ Sep. 01 2002,01:10)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">What I like is the fact that they miss and suppressive fire works, both ways. I think that's what sells it for me. There's nothing like bein prone behind a small object and just not moving because the enemy pins you down. In OFP they either nail you, or ignore you. Nothing in between. Colin<span id='postcolor'> HELL Â Â Â Â Â Â Â YES! This is what i always find missing in games is the Realistic Ignorance. Sure, it probably doesnt take too much ammo to hit someone with an assault rifle if youve got a clean shot, but in a battle like the kind we see in games, you wouldnt have time to think about that, or anything for that matter. Youd just shoot, and try to be as accurate as possible while keeping yourself as pretected as you could. Ghost recon deffinitely put a lot of realism back in the way the enemy engaged you. They can miss a lot of the time in OFP. Machine gunners, and Spetz Natzs with bizons will just sit there opening up on me and nothing hits me, but they do have to have quite a distance between me. With assault rifles, you have to turn down the enemy's skill all the way, and even then, it wont take more than three trys for them to hit you. This does come in handy for AI snipers, cause they really would be able to hit you that good in real life. Word of the wise, game developers, your AI is inhumanly accurate. You have to make them more realistically ignorant, or the fun factor is going to disappear.

Well, it was deffinitely intense, i'll give you that. The thing is though, I see gaming as something thats meant to be enjoyed. So, when youve got it set up in such a way that there are tons of enemies, no saving, and lots of skill for the enemies and not so much for your team, youre forced to do it over and over and over again, and you just lose all ambition to do it. When its this realistically intense, its just got no fun factor. One thing you could have done was have a truck of reinforcements standing by when you were the only one alive in your group. And when the rest of your team dies, you radio them, saying youre under heavy fire, your teams been wiped out, etc and they come and help you. This wouldnt take away from the realism either. Any soldier in their right mind would be calling for back up or some kind of assistance if he\she were the only one left in a battle. This mission really does have a LOT of potential though. I'd say it was a work in progress.

To think that T80 will blow me to the other side. But its a public server, and theres only one guy inside, he cant shoot me and drive at the same time, so here i go. I'm running up. Gonna get into the drivers seat and drive him to the sea. And say thats what you get, you dumb bastard, for leaving behind your team, but i died. He shot me dead. I forgot about manual fire, so i took it in the head. I re-spawned and now its vengeance time, so get ready for 8 mavericks at the same time, hey hey! I will survive. As long as there are A10's here, i know i'll be all right. No point in using anything but air, or else it take me seven hours to get from here to there. And when i do, I cant get through. If i set foot inside, i'll get blown sky high, you know its true. Your stupid anti-spawn raping trigger killed me, So now its time for some L-G-B, hey hey! Youre gonna die. You have a red dot on your head, now my bombs will make you dead. I'll bomb your ass into the grass, you should have listened to what i said.<span id='postcolor'> Ok, this is the next verse of what i have: Sneaking into the town to put my charges down. None of the AI knows that i'm around. That BMP is a hazard to my health, so i move in for the kill with lots of stealth. Put a charge and make a brake for it. Drop one by the Ural sitting next to it. But I ate it hard, cause i hit "touch off two bombs" instead of "put satchel charge", and then i died. So i hit retry. Did it ten times over till i got it right. Racked up a body count, then i was out of there. Back to the black hawk and up into the air. I did survive. I did survive. Lucky i'm invisible while i'm prone at night. Had to crawl the way there and back, but they did not survive, but i did. I saved the day. Even though my team mates got in my way. They learned not when they got shot, so now its all ok, hey hey! I did survive. As long as i know how to kill, i know am alive. I got all my rounds to spend. Gonna make it to the end. I will survive. I will survive. Hey Hey! Ok, thats all for now. If i think of anything else to write a funny verse about, i deffinitely will. Thang'ya, ya been great!
