  1. I need the weapon and, if there is one, the ammo name for the laser designater. I need a "night time" black op to have one not a black-op day

oh yeah, i know all that. Its just i'm in the process of making a mission right now, and i need to know which stands out more at night to AI

He was my first too hehehehm he just never seemed to notice me until it was too late. In the full game, he always seems to take out my leader pretty good, but he gets his!

  8. I dont care if no one responds to this, but this is just one of those times that i feel it neccasary to share this. I just re-played the mission "Pathfinder". This mission is interesting, because it literally takes your whole squad to get it done. It ends pretty much with you as the only survivor. Anyhoo, I had ditched my issued M-60, and gotten a LAW and an m16 off a fallen comrade. By the time i took out the second shilka, a lot of armor started showing up which the helicopters took out, but there was infantry all over the town. Kilo squad helped with this, but i was pretty much the only one left. I had gotten myself an AK74, so i could get some better firepower, and i just started thinning them out as i saw opportunities. I didnt want to start shooting with a lot of them around, lest someone saw me, even though i was in a bush. But whenever i saw just one or two of them, a few shots rang out and down they went. as soon as no one else showed up, i started moving into the town. I saw an officer to my left that didnt see me, so i leveled my sights on him, and pulled the trigger. Kept moving into the town, i came up right behind the last officer. I was crawling the whole way, and he never saw me. I pulled around to the side, where there was some bushes, and got myself in a good position. i was just lying there watching him for a second, just kinda savoring the moment (yes, yes, call me a sadist if you wish, i still had a damn good time with this), and then i put my reticule right on him, and held down the full auto! Mission completed! Just fealt like sharing this. These are the moments that make this game worth playing for me. If anyone wants, share some war stories, i'm sure youve got some

    Ambush demo level

there are two ways to complete ambush (its in the retail version too). A) All your team mates get killed, and the mission turns to simple survival, and they tell you to just get back to friendly territory. B) In your case, where you survive the whole way, but cant defeat the armor. You get into the blackhawk, fly for a short distance, and get shot down, and have to bail out. The key here, is just to eject. all infantry guys have parachutes in OFP. Its one of the unrealistic conveniences, that i actually like.

Interesting idea. That would certainly make for a long day playing under the right circumstances. i say Give it a go !

    Escort convoy

titaniums got a good strategy, but id go with this one. Take the HMMWV with yourself as the driver, and a machine gunner and any LAW soldiers you have. Then, the M113 should have your other team members in it, following you. Heres the plan: Dont even tell the convoy to leave the first town. Theres no point in risking it until all hostiles are cleared, which is what you'll do. Go the whole way to the airport yourself first, clearing out all reds as you go. The arudy path does work well, its the one i beat this mission on with this plan. With you in the Hummer and your team following you in the M113, you'll be free to run over any soldiers you find, while the APC picks off everything you dont see with its machine gun. This works great. Around arudy, and i think durdan or houdan, which ever one comes after arudy, you'l face some armor. I think its a t-72, and some infantry. This is no problem if you equip yourself with a LAW and have you other LAW soldiers with you. The infantry can be dealt with by the M113. when youv'e secured the whole way to the airport, simply tell the convoy to take the route you secured, and wait for them to get there, completing the mission.

Sabotuer is deffinitely one of my favorites, followed closely by the second clean sweep mission. I loved playing sabotuer the first time. Sneaking into that base on my stomach the whole time so i wouldnt get found out, planting charges under all the armor, and getting out the same, painstakingly slow way i came in, then running into the forest just seconds after i lit the place up. Classic! And then clean sweep would be my next choice. I wasnt really down with the first one done in broad daylight and not being in command at the same time. that just doesnt bode well. My team was dead in seconds. The second one, however, was pure fun. Taking total advantage of the black-ops high level of camoflauge, almost never getting seen except for having to take out that BMP, and gunning down enemy soldier after enemy soldier after enemy soldier while we were at it. Love that one.

    Flashpoint cheats?

well, like any other ligitamate OFP gamer who bought his copy fair and square, i wouldnt risk it. From what iv heard about the anti-piracy functions put on the software, it seems to me that the developers really want people to play it the ligitamate way. maybe they werent thinking about cheat codes at the time, but it seems to me that bad stuff can happen if you try to do things with this game that werent intended to be done. i.e. counterfeiting, and could very well be, cheating. I'd just stear clear of it all. I like being able to die.

    War and games, your opinion?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote (Gaswell @ Mar. 15 2002,14:38)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I find it disturbing that I can nuke millions of faceless people in CivIII to an ESRB rating of "Mild Violence".<span id='postcolor'> I guess perspective on who your nuking can play a part too. In starcraft, i was dropping up to six nukes sequencially on enemy locations, and, in the case of the zerg, blood was flying everywhere. But of coarse games like this, real-time strategy games, are from a perspective that doesnt capture it as well as a First Person Shooter would. As i said, games can give you a general idea about what war sounds like, and they can give you a pretty good idea of what war looks like, but the feeling is far different. Feelings come from life, not electronics.

    War and games, your opinion?

Ya know, a lot of this is just nature of the beast. This is just what makes a game be a game. And a fun one at that. You can only get so realistic. It just goes with how technology developes, and companies continually get a better understanding of what gamers look for in their choices. What i found particularly interesting in that article was the mentioning of having a perspective on time over the course of day, or even two days, which OFP is actually set up to do. It would be completely possible in this game to do exactly what he was talking about, and make a mission designed to be played over an extended period of time. this would be incredably time consuming, and, depending on the mission, would require a very high end computer to support all the units, tiggers and Waypoints and such. Still, it can be done. And then theres the whole gettin'-to-know-you issue. This would be a time consuming one as well to create whole back grounds for everyone, and deffinitely a challenge to be origional. We cant very well all have a squad including Bobby Bruning, James Pound, Jim Self, George Debak, etc. and expect to come up with something new unless we were all just creating alternate histories with the same people. Back to realism. This is deffinitely something to be considered, making games increasingly realistic to the true rigors of war. The first time i saw Saving Private Ryan, i had to take breaks durring the d-day scene. I just couldnt take it at first, because i was never exposed to anything that realistic before. it took me a while before i could get through the scene without averting my eyes, And iv been playing violent games for a WHILE. All the way back to the days of woolfenstien3D and DooM. And then of coarse was the quake trilogy, unreal, half-life. etc. Games have just never done it to such a full extent as far as what it feels like to be in combat. And its my opinion that games just cant do that. Not from an everyday computer setup at least. Games can show you how war sounds (generally), and how it looks (pretty much), but feelings are something a human being can really only get from being there.
  17. I'll second that first question. Id love to know if thats possible. I got it to happen once, of coarse that was in v1.30, but still. I just did it by giving the A10 a seek and destroy WP right where i had its targets, and then i jusut pointed the laser, and it worked.
  18. I cant get AI A 10s to take off on their own and attack targets. what am i not doing or doing wrong?
  19. I figured it out. You do have to have them on the taxi-way first. But the right end of the runway makes a difference. At one end of the runway, there should be arrows pointing into it. This is the end plains would land on, so this the where they should start when they take off. the rest is just like intruder said.
  20. Iv tried all of that. Iv tried putting them on the taxi way with a wp somewhere else, iv tried putting them at the start of the runway with a wp at the end of it that is set at full speed, but nothing happens, they just move at practicly a walking pace in a direction they choose.

    Night vision

what does everyone think of the night vision in OFP? Personally, i find it very dis orienting, and dont use it very often, even in pitch black. I also wish to ask, if anyone knows, is the night vision in OFP realisticly portrayed?

    Mi-24

as for air characteristics blown out of preportion, i just tried flying a hind and iv got 1.46. Still feels the same to me, still a big hurky gunship with in accurate anti tank missiles

    Mission counterstrike

on the second base, i aslo really enjoy bombarding the place with my other two LAW rockets after i take out the t-72

    Mission counterstrike

take the M21 and LAWLauncher as suggested. Taking the base, should be fairly easy since there are just 3 soldiers there. It actually doesnt matter where you tell your soldiers to go. Iv hid in plain sight countless times and only lost one or two of my men. A little while after you hit that waypoint, you'll hear about re-enforcements en-route to your position. Use your binoculars and watch the hill in front of you. when you identify the BMPs, your AT soldier will take aim and fire, usually taking one of them out before they're even within range of your law soldiers. You can then take care of the other one with your LAW. after that, just snipe everyone, and wait for re-enforcements. taking the second location should be easy, as you have multiple teams attacking it with you.
