i should probably tell you what youd be getting. Its quite realistic. You lead a 10 man team on a mission to burry information the enemy has stolen, along with cripling the base that they are holding it at. its done at dawn.

ya know, one time in "Maverick", i was trying to nail this shilka with my 30mm, and i was flying straight at it(it was on a hill), and i ended up flying right into it, and that actually killed it. We both died, but still.

Where do you put the setgroupid command?
Aculaud replied to Aculaud's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
i used mygrp SetGroupID ["Echo","GroupColor4"] I tried this using just a normal group in the mission editer, and i just put it in the leaders initialization field. i didnt put it in everyones. then i tried a sidechat radio message, and it still showed me, the leader, as Alpha Black 1 -

i would advocate fixing this. I mean, lets be real with ourselves. How many times have you actually killed anything with the 30mm cannon in the game? once?

Experienced scripter needed!
Aculaud replied to Aculaud's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
TO RED: I was just thinking of a script where, instead of a bunch of tank rounds being used to simulate artillery on an area, myabe just 3 or 4 laserguided bombs be dropped there instead. So pretty much what i'm looking for, is a script that simulates accurate bombing on an area that i can change so that it simply uses a different weapon. -
Iv seen some different artillery scripts, and i had an idea for one that would be more effective. It would use the laser guided bombs dropped from an A-10. Maybe three or four of them. I know almost nothing about scripts, but If there are any scripters out there that would like to give this a try, maybe you could drop me a line and get me started, or do it yourself or something.

ok, i'll revise. Does anyone have an artillery script where i can simply change the name of the weapon used? -

It also makes me believe what placebo was saying about that review team being bribed. Ghost recon is even more realistic than OFP is in some ways. Come to think about it, the only way Ghost Recon isnt more realistic than OFP is simply how you cant go everywhere on the maps. So to put OFP down because they thought it was too realistic, and then naming Ghost recon game of the year seems hypocritical to say the least.

not like a BMP or M113 or anything, i'm talking about a ligitamate tank. Anyone ever done this? I only think i have once, and thats just because i saw the t72 on my statistics, but i never really saw the thing destroyed.

for the first question, i'm fairly certain you have to be quick on the draw with that enter button. as a matter of fact, iv never left a vehicle in mid air without my chute opening, so being in mid air with your gun in hand sounds like a glitch. second question. all attack choppers are armed with three weapons. A 30mm cannon, non guided arial rockets, and guided anti tank rockets. On the cobra, youve got your 30mm, your folding fin arial rockets, and your TOW missiles. Your 30mm cannon is good for light vehicles like trucks and cars, and is also good for taking down an enemy chopper. Your folding fin arial rockets can blanket an area pretty good, but they also do well with taking out tanks, and other armor. Your TOW missiles are your big bruisers. two of these is enough to take out a light tank, and two of these plus a little 30mm fire is enough to take out a t80 which is the strongest russian tank in the game.

Aculaud replied to Aculaud's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
no no, not an arty script. I mean the artillery pieces on everon. I know theres an addon out there that puts working versions in the mission editor, i just never read the post that told where to find them. -

So that it could slow down so i could fire the on board machine gun more accurately, or para-drop out over a smaller area. -

Aculaud replied to Aculaud's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
well see, iv experimented with some other scripts that use tank shells, but there are too many explosions. Youd have to have automated artillery firing no stop for a few minutes to get these kind of effects. I'm just looking to come up with a script one way or another that will make for just a few really big blasts that would take out a whole base, or lots of enemy armor or something. -
I know exactly what you mean. I had a "moment" the other day too. I was playing an official campeign mission "guardian", and we had laid down all the mines, and i was in the bushes waiting for the tanks to come down the road. I had laid a couple mines about 20 meters ahead of where my leader was laying them down, and then i put the last one about 150 meters up the road from that. When the tanks came, the t80 got blown to fragments, and the t72s started swerving around. One hit a mine and blew up, and by this time i had been ordered to start taking them out myself. So i got up, got my LAW launcher out and got a tank in my sights. I fired a rocket at it as it was moving away from me, and right as the rocket hit it, it must have hit some mines at the same time, because it was lifted off the ground by the blast and was completely destroyed. I am almost for sure that it hit a mine at that time, because of the dammage done to it, but it looked to me like the LAW i fired at it did that. It was the coolest way iv ever taken out a tank.

Need help with triggers and a car
Aculaud replied to mp82's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
i have one possible solution. Make a waypoint for the guy and put it right next to the car. In the 'on activation' field of the waypoint put the command "name of guy" moveindriver "name of car" then, his next waypoint should be where you want him to go. Hope this helps, Aculaud -
They join, but they don't follow.why?
Aculaud replied to SergeantSlay's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
a really easy way to do it is simply make a join wp for your other team, and synch it to your waypoint, whatever it is. Youl hit it, they'l join, end of story. Just make sure youre a higher rank than your officer. That is, if you want to lead all of them.
