Correction: It has not been released in Spain yet. Latest information indicates release date will be on july 3rd.

I has not been released in Spain either. Main comp. games store here has its ETA for July 3rd.... Weird games Codemasters play, the original OFP was schedulled for June 21st and it came out over here on June 18th, 3 days earlier than expected. Now resistance is 5 days late... I wonder if they are making us pay...

The problems seems to be still there with 1.58 althoug less noticeable. Now the "Wait for Server" and lobby fonts seems to be smaller although I did not touch the screen resolution settings. Is it just me or the font size is now smaller?
-
That seems to be a very specific problem. I use Xp professional edition since it came out and never had a problem with any version of ofp, 1.55 and 1.58 betas included. Everything works fine on my xp.

We have seen a weird bug in version 1.55. When testing the new netcode on the map we are using for the Spanish league we noticed that the weapons that are supposed to be inside ammo crates happen to be drawn outside and perfectly lined up! I am posting several screenshots: Pic1 In this first screen you can see the whole line of weapons, notice how the line goes all the way to the cranes. Also, different weapons are packed together. Pic2 In this other pic you can see my buddy Choin standing near the line of weapons. We noticed that this lines seems to be drawn in different places for each players. To prove it, here is the next picture: Pic3 That pic was taken on the same exact moment by Choin (sorry for the quality). You can see me standing and the line of weapon which has "moved" to the left. As I said, this pic was taken at the very same moment as the previous one. In official BI missions we were unaable to reproduce this bug, so maybe it has something to do with some new scripting command. If you want to test the mision itself here is the link to it: LEOFP Map As for the performance of the new test code we think there is serious improvement. Desync was 0 all the time and things are not so "jumpy" as they used to be. Good job BI, keep it up!. Hope this helps.

This was also an issue in beta versions 1.26,27,28,29. It happened to all the localized languages German, Spanish, Italian, etc. It was fixed in the final 1.30 version. I am sure they will localize the language strings for the final version...
-
Thanks for the info. Looks like now boxes have a limit. I wonder why that was implemented and if it will be a feature also in the final version. If it is there's going to be a lot of weapons on Everon's ground!

Awesome video. For those of you having problems downloading it we have it in our web, it's in spanish but I think is pretty obvious were to get the video Here is the mirror: LEOFP

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">And if you do release a beta patch, will it be possible to run both instances of OFP? I mean, will a server be able to host both an officialy patched server and then a beta patched server?<span id='postcolor'> Hopefully not. If the server is able to host both that would mean that the new netcode is not so different from the old one since they would be compatible and that is no good. I want to see a whole new netcode. I really think that is what this game needs to make it even bigger....

Now the question is, in what form will we get this new MP netcode test. I mean, are we going to get a stand alone Demo with the netcode, similar to the first MP public demo, or will it be a beta patch for ofp like the 1.26, 1.27 and 1.29 beta patches? I can't wait to get my hands on it either way!! Bets anyone?

The current netcode is based on DirectX. The developers (Suma et al.) have stated severtal times that the Directx choice was a wrong one for several reasons, one of them being not possible to have dedicated servers running on Linux machines (for obvious reasons, DirectX=Windows). Another reason is simply that netcode based on DirectX suxs big time, as you can see by youself when playing OFP on multiplayer. What I am expecting to see is a new netcode not based on DirectX but based on winsocks. That will give us less lag and hopefully dedicated Linux severs, which will (hopefully) significally increase the number of dedicated servers.

We are trying to set up the first dedicated OFP server in Spain but we are encountering lots of lag problems. We have hired hosting services from a local ISP. The hired connection is a 24/7 512Kb frame relay on a Pentium IV 1800 machine with 512Mb of RAM. The connection itself should be more than enough to hold 8 players games since all of our matches will only hold that number of players. In the server we loaded OFP dedicated server 1.49 using a cfg file with the default options. We thought everything should go ok, however we are experiencing huge amounts of lag, which makes the server totally unplayable. The pings are surprinsingly good, always bellow 100 ms. When running the #monitor command we always get 50 FPS, 55Mb memory use, and in/out Kbs values around 60/15. The in/out values vary a lot, I don`t know if that's the way it is supposed to be, is it? Also, desync is always around 50-150, which seems to be the cause of all our head aches. Why is it so high? Any ideas? The only explanation that comes to my mind is that the ISP is ripping us off charging us for a connection is not up to the specs. I know there are people reading these forums that run dedicated servers. Any help/ideas from them will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

As June is getting closer I was wondering if we will be able to test Resistance new features with a demo. I know Resistance it is an expansion to OFP, which probably does not make it suitable for a demo, however I think that the new features and enhancements it includes make it perfect for a demo. So, what do you think?

Either that or he was on LSD when he wrote all that.

I am going to take that bet, Resistance is coming out on June 21st, that is a fact. Here in Spain we are preparing an Ofp Tournament sponsored by Codemasters itself. The tournament dates are set so we the tournament final Lan party will be one day after Resistance is released. The final is schedulled for June 22nd and Codemasters agreed with that date, so probably Codemasters knows that the game is on schedule. Get those 100 bucks ready, they are coming with me
