Since your previous card (which worked fine) was a PCI one, and the new one is an AGP one, I suggest you look in that direction for the problem. Also, it happens with ALL games, right?
-
Here's the deal. Many addons that are out right now have caused problems due to bad work on behalf of the addon maker. Since this was causing problems with the original game, BIS decided to lock certain stuff. Apparently if an addon wants to change something which is locked, it doesn't work. It's a good decision from BIS. Don't complain, they did it for a good reason.

Well right now I've got 27.50. My computer still locks up. But only after a cold boot. I need to one or two warm boots after a cold boot to get my computer stable. It's weird, but that's the way it is. The main reason why I'm putting up with this (and not using a driver which doesn't have this issue) is because the 23.xx+ drivers have quite better performance than the 'old' ones. Since I don't have an ultrafast computer, there's no other way.

Let's cheer for Avon (and here great FAQ)

Wild guess... your videocard is not suited to play this game? (16 mb ram required for regular 3d cards, 8 for voodoo2, NO onboard videochipsets supported) I presume you have an onboard videochipset or a rather old vidcard.

What error message did windows give (blue screen of death error message)? Was it something like "the driver was unable to complete a drawing operation"? Or "the driver got stuck in an infinite loop"? It was an error related to nv4disp.dll, right? This error is caused by the 23.xx + drivers. I have the same problem. There's no other option than to switch to a different driver, e.g. 22.80. btw, Are you overclocking your videocard? Perhaps it's getting too hot. Also, try disabling fast writes, etc... The 100-mhz-upgrade issue could be related to the VIA southbridge. Apparently datatransfer is not stable when your FSB is set 133mhz.

I used to have this problem with earlier versions (I think pre v1.40), where the text disappeared after alt-tabbing. Have you patched your game to the latest (v1.46) yet? If so, what videocard have you got?

1. Provide all your system specs 2. Copy/paste the latest entries from flashpoint.rpt in OF dir.

OT: it's hertz not hurz

It's not a problem of windows only recognizing one at a time. It's just that you can only use 1 joystick at a time. It's like you can only use one mouse at the same time. I suggest you use a flightstick for heli's/planes and do the rest with keyboard+mouse. It was designed for this.
-
aren't the difficulty settings pretty self-explanatory?
-
I should check this but... doesn't your joystick have a thrust slider? If so, you should use this one to increase/decrease power.

1. Don't post crap. If you are not satisfied, take the game back to the store. If you feel the need to complain in this forum, then use good arguments, not just something that any 5 year old can type. 2. Perhaps you could enlighten us, what is your problem with OF?

It may be a cdrom drive HW problem. Safedisc is basicly about adding a digital signature to the disc, which is read during the authentication process. On macrovision.com (the creator's site) they state that when you copy the disc, the signature 'cannot' be copied. Thus when you try to run the software from the copied disc, it cannot find the signature and thus will not work. This leads me to believe that the digital signature is kept in a hard-to-read area of the cdrom disc. Which may cause problems with certain cdrom drives.

I have been running OF under xp for quite a while and have not had any problem. The double mouse cursor may be due to the fact that OF doesn't have 'focus'.
-
You may also rename the file after saving. Additionally assign Notepad to the .sqs extension. This way it will automaticly open the .sqs files so in Notepad so that you can edit them.

Is your windows swapfile size limited (user set)? Or is it being 'managed by windows'? Do any errors appear when the game crashes? Perhaps you could paste the latest entries from flashpoint.rpt here.

Addon makers need to make entrie(s) for their addon into a config.cpp which should go in the addon .pbo file, along with any other files (e.g. textures). The only reason when you should encounter the noconfig entry error, is when you start a mission which is using an addon which is not present on your system. I don't know why it happens right after OF launches though :-| Are you sure it's when OF launches or when a mission starts?

That's because it natively renders everything in 32bpp in the first place.

The cd-check program caused an error (duh), that's why win xp shut it down and displayed the generic win xp error message. Since it has to with cd-checking: - Have you got a cdwriter? - Which cd-rom have you got? - Using any virtual cdrom tools? etc etc....

1. That GF3 Ti200 is really overkill when used with that cpu 2. It's normal that you cannot enable w-buffer on a GF3 3. Screenshot: Try pasting it in Paint, or any other gfx application. 4. Change the settings in OFpreferences utility. For full GFX quality, set all sliders to max (to the right). Set texture drop down to 0 and set texture resolution to the highest value listed. This *may* turn your OF sessions into slideshows, but hey...
