    Bistore closed

    Just wanted to post I am pretty disappointed in the colossal failure of the BIS Store. They knew this was going to happen, it always does. Can't they rent a few servers or do a temporary upgrade for events like this? They can't say that they didn't expect the volume of traffic. Arma 3 is highly anticipated. They also have had problems with DayZ and mass popularity, remember that? They should have been way more prepared. Your in AAA game territory now...Hell knows what it would be like if Steam wasn't taking some of the load. Another reason for my harsh criticism is the fact they brought it on themselves by including limited offers (1st 500 people etc). You cant offer things like this if you know your servers are going to buckle under the load. When you offer things like this, it of course going to be a F5 refresh and mass attempt to purchase... Personally, I went for the Digital Deluxe Edition through the BIStore (more fool me I guess, shoulda used Steam). I was able to purchase the game about 3pm today then the BIStore went tits up. I still have not been able to download the game from the link in the email... Where are the Mirrors, Torrents etc? Again, pretty unimpressed.

    Which version will you be buying?

    I think it would have been nice if the Supporter edition came with a Printed map, like Arma 2 did for preorders. I probably wont get much use from a PDF map and it will be available online soon enough for any one I'm sure.

  4. I'm very surprised at the negativity toward Domination. It is still popular. I know of three servers that have a very good population every night, one of them is always full (51 players). I think it ( and Evo and Insurgency) are some of the best public server coop games for Arma. There is nothing else coop wise really like it for the PC (surprise, surprise it is on the Arma engine after all :) ). The only thing that some times bothers me is the lack of variation in missions. I would like if servers hosted more Domination missions on other great user made islands (Duala etc). I was very sad to hear Xeno gave up development of Domination. I'll admit I know little of the situation, but as I recall he stopped because of the constant bitching by forum loud mouths about how missions like Domination are ruining Arma's multiplayer scene and that it's existence was basically the sole reason there where no Player Vs Player servers...yeah right, pull the other one... I can't see why he would want to block anyone making it for Arma3, very, very sad. If some thing is popular why block it? If really is so bad, then it will just die, surely? And if it doesn't and people like it, and want to keep playing...then...why not allow them or even support them (your fans?)? I don't understand the logic at all. It's a great shame. Does anyone know where the thread, or discussion was where he mentioned this? I'd be interested to read. Xeno and Domination have many grateful supporters, myself one of them.

    Couldn't agree more. Although people making wild and irrational rants based on improvements for our game from BIS is some thing I have seen quite a lot on here over the past few years: Ragdoll physics = crying and "ruined Arma" threads Arma 3 future setting = crying and "ruined Arma" threads DLC for Arma2 = crying and "ruined Arma" threads DayZ = crying and "ruined Arma" threads I see a pattern here :D

    Good choice with full Steam integration. I don't currently use Steam for Arma, but for Arma3 I have no problem making the change. It does have the occasional hiccup, but what doesn't? The steam workshop will be a great partner ship for Arma3 also. People always cry out for better mod implementation and a management system from BIS....Well here we have it...and people complain. No real surprise there I guess.
  10. Hi Sancez, welcome to Arma. When did it start happening? Is it really only a few seconds between spikes? not a 2-3 minutes? Are the Mp severs where it works non Battle eye? Could you list them here so I can test please? Do you see ever see a "yellow chain" briefly after the Spike has passed? I ask all this as I am having a similar prob for about 2 weeks now and I have no idea what it is, other than maybe Battle eye. PS for ease of reading your post, you can use "spoiler" tags to hide all that system info.
  11. I am still having this problem: https://dev-heaven.net/issues/70609 I have no clue how to fix it. The only thing I can think of is BattleEye, but you would expect a lot more people to be reporting it if it was. Any Idea $able, if it might be Battle Eye? I played on a server without BE and had no pauses. I will try to test some more but there are very few non BE servers to test on.
  12. So I see some more changes have been added to the Beta now from the A2CCP. One of them is the "Disable locking of all non guided weapons with AutoGuideAT disabled" https://dev-heaven.net/issues/29024 . Which, as an unintended side affect, also breaks the Fire Control System (FCS) that BIS added in Operation Arrowhead. This means you can no longer "Lock" a target and get the FCS to auto compute the range/lead if you play with "Auto guide AT"=Disabled (as many servers do). If we are going to go ahead with this can we please have some compromise to allow us to still effectively use the gun systems on many vehicles? We at least need more fine manual zeroing controls for range and the ability to range out to the Guns' real world distance. Vehicles like the MGS Stryker will be useless with out some thing like this, the M2a3 Bradley will also suffer. Some one has already made a ticket: https://dev-heaven.net/issues/70594 Locking on to Laser Designators with this change was broken too, but it has been fixed, which is great. To me and many others the FCS is as important as being able to lock onto a laser. Please don't let this change go into the patch without giving us some kind of compromise... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also, is it possible to have big changes like this (and others, like FLIR color changes etc) listed in the Change Log? I understand when things are not added to the change log that are fixes for bugs caused by the beta etc, but these changes are big and need to be tested by many people. I never even realized that these new A2CCP changes had been implemented to the Beta until last night. Thanks
  13. I think they where changed to match the real world equivalents. Eg Abrams in the real world uses green FLIR for gunner etc. I think it look pretty good, and from what I have seen is accurate.
  14. Is it constant bad FPS or spikes? I only ask as I have a problem at the moment where I get pauses every 3-4 minutes for a few seconds, I think it's Battle Eye related. If it is just bad FPS in general, it is most like that there are too many players/AI on the server for it to be able to give good performance. Try some different servers and see what happens. Clients performance is dictated by Server performance, so if the server is struggling all the clients will too, regardless of what hardware you use.

    Heh, yeah. I remember when Arma1 and Arma2 came out and me and a mate noticed some old OFP bugs and it made us smile, not get annoyed :). It just wouldn't be a proper BIS game if they where left out , they are old friends heh heh. I think given the support we get and the sheer power and versatility of the game, we can live with a few quirks :) .
  16. AfaIk this is caused by a change added to Arma since DayZ where by it automatically tries to filter out servers it thinks are too far from your location or have too high of a ping. But as you have seen, it seems to have some problems. I myself play frequently on a US server with no Latency problems with a ping of 140-180, but it is almost always hidden from me in the server browser. I have to use the "Remote" option in the server browser to add the server's IP and force it to list it this way. You can use a site like this to find the IP of server you want to play on: http://arma2.swec.se/server/list?page=3&sort=players Use the "Remote" button in the server browser to add the IP and show the server. If you want to go back to the normal server view click the "LAN/Internet" button on the bottom left of the screen.
  17. The "Someone" knows very well the the problems this removal will and does cause, but "they" wont discuss it, accept compromises, acknowledge problems etc, etc. So what can you do? I noticed the offending change was removed from the A2CCP recently but was then added back in, so who knows....no discussion or information on what is going on.

    Broken Filters

    After using this system for a while, I don't like it. There are USA servers that it hides from me pretty much every time I play. My ping to this server does be about 150-200, but the game runs fine and I get no lag or warping and no complaints from the hosts. Trying to get the server to show up became so bad that I had to go on to the web and to one of those Game Tracker sites so I could find the IP of the sever and enter it into the "Remote" section of the Arma lobby. I would like to go back to choosing what servers I can play on myself. As Arma is not capable.

  22. Where is KJU? ignoring legitimate questions once more...what a surprise. The guy (fraczek) has possibly found another valid problem with the Autoguide AT change that concerns him, and wants some feed back. And all he gets is some drivel about how you think everyone should play the game.... Qazdar...grow up mate. That statement right there pretty much sums up why you probably avoid giving "advice/counter arguments" in this thread. It's so ironic, you are so convinced these type of changes will make PVP so much more popular and make Arma more realistic, you don't even realize you actually seem to want to play a Battle Field type game. You go from one extreme to the other...Sure Tab has some negatives and can be unrealistic with some weapon systems, but your really willing to get rid of FCS/get rid of GBUs/ ignore things that modern aircraft have like CCIP CCRP etc and make FLIR less clear...Just so you can have balanced PVP game mode...Guess what? War is not balanced. And modern military tech makes real war like guess what?? A video game no less! Maybe it's Invasion44 (great mod btw) you should be playing, if you don't like the modern battle field. Oh...and can I mention again how this CCP is not supposed to be for game play changing additions? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PS, I let you in on a little secret...Arma's PVP scene is not popular because it requires proper organization/Comms/Team Work to result in a enjoyable game that is not complete frustration for either one or both sides. It will never be as popular as public pickup and play games like Domination/Evolution/Insurgency etc. No amount of "Fixes" to TAB lock are going to change that fact. The only thing that could make PVP more popular is some one coming up with a clever mission design or feature that no one else has thought of..Like the way DayZ used the persistent server feature. Clever ideas like this have the potential to make Arma PVP very popular. Some one just has to come up with it and implement it.

  24. Try going into the single player mission editor and see what FPS you get there. Add a few objects etc and see what happens. Have you tried many different types of online mission?
  25. I was nearly finished the 2nd ACR mission: "Patrol". I was rearming my soldiers after clearing a "suspicious area" and an AT soldier came out of the forest and took out the Pandur ( I was not onboard at the time). The mission then "Failed". I thought to my self- "no bother I'll just revert to the last save". But I can't, after clicking "Continue" when the mission failed it seems I have to restart the mission from scratch. I have to admit, I don't have that much experience with the Arma campaign save system. But shouldn't my last User save be at least be available? I know there are two types of save in Arma missions, Auto save (mission triggered) and user Save (ESC menu). Should one of them not be there? Thanks for any help
