So, wait a second. They don't implement TrackIR (or even the damned ALT key from OFP) and cancel freelook and floating zone and who knows what else but have time to implemet ambX? Could I be right with the presumption that the user base of the later is significantly smaller? Hell, they could have used that Natal thing and bring head tracking to consoles... Sorry for the rant, but I don't like the system. Who want's a 5000(!) rpm fan next to him for some breeze while everyone tries to get his PC to be more silent?

GMJ Sight Adjustment for ArmA2
scruffy replied to noamles's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Great, thanks for porting this -
Vopsound is required because of a config bug, no idea if it has been fixed yet. Extract your mission.pbo, open the mission.sqm with a text editor and search for any vop_* entries in the "Addons" and "AddonsAuto" arrays at the top of the file. Delete those, watch out for the "," if it's the last entry, pack up your mission folder again and you should be fine. I haven't tried the mission but uploaded it to the server, you can never have enough coops ;) Thanks for releasing

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
scruffy replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
I run a 4890 on a P35-DS3R, so yes. But it's only a PCIe 1.1 slot instead of 2.0 so it might lose some speed. No idea how much that is (depending on game etc.), here is a test about it. It works and really good here, regardless of some % ;) -
Inside the pbo files. Go to Arma\Addons and then extract what you want, weapons and weapons2.pbo for example, you can do that with cpbo. Inside will be one (or more in subfolders) config.bin files that you will need to unbin to .cpp (ArmaUnbin or other tool) which you can open with any text editor. Or you go to Devheaven and download the AllInOne.cpp or what you want to look at. Search for entries you don't know in the Biki to find what they do.

Update to v1.3, see first post. Fixed bug in at_gui_cursor, now should no longer give errors/write in mission.sqm Updated at_gui_chat for patch 1.02, no increased size necessary now, but moved chat window below written text now instead of behind it. Still no luck with fov_aim...

I guess it is the game and the set time and date. Test the following an compare: Editor, Chernarus, Weather 100% perfect, 14:00 pm and 10. May 2005 or sth. And now open up a MP game for yourself with the mission 04 or 05, super powers. There is a big difference, the second looks really bleak here too. The other mission with the guerillas is more colorful and with best weather on a clear sky it's more in terms with Arma 1. But the colors in general are a bit less colorful and the grass especially is really greener on the other.. ehm... Sahrani side :D Lowering the gamma slider a bit should give you a higher contrast and you can change colors in your video card settings. Fort an ATI card look for "color" in the Catalyst Control Center and adjust the settings for "Full Screen 3D". I'm not sure where to do this with an Nvidia card, and your monitor could be adjusted too.

Mod to disable Motion Blur and Running Blur very needed
scruffy replied to Areon's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
@Alex: Close hit blur and running 10sec and getting slight LSD vision effects are still there. -
Shameless plug ahead ;) I added an addon in the new version of my GUI pack to reduce the standard zoom in cars. Some feedback about it would be nice, any vehicles that don't work, still too much zoom/not enough, etc. If you want to make your personal version feel free to use mine as a start.

Serious unexplainable Performance Differences - got proof
scruffy replied to Helmut_AUT's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
The problem here is the blood. If the first aid systems are used and a unit linked with them dies they bleed out and leave a growing pool of blood. When you pull them around you make things even worse as you now leave a trail of blood. -
Update, see first post. If anyone has any ideas regarding the _fov_aim bug please tell me.

The first cause of this problem is my connection. I have only got DSL 1000, so 120/16 kB/s down/up. I generally always sort servers for ping times and never was able to find a server where I could play AA properly. I guess there was something wrong with the beta, too which might get fixed. It showed my own ping as 40-50 which is completely out of range for me and I walked most paths twice. But I don't think this will ever get to a reasonable rate for me, maybe it's the Unreal engine in general? I could never really play SWAT 4 over the internet as well.

You can get into the beta on fileplanet: http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/americas-army-3/ Tried around a bit yesterday, sadly the connection was as bad as it has been since version 1 for me. Seems like I won't play this one, too.

First of all thank you all for your posts. Nice to see it's appreciated and thanks for the mirrors and news. You can double click it and then it will get bigger. I'll look into it as it's still pretty small with GUI set to "very small". The changes are all separated and I will keep it that way, choose what you want. I think the FOV is acceptable, I just don't like the change and automated zoom when aiming. I don't think I will change this, but maybe I'll use another addon when it comes out :p I'll see if I can get them any smaller (it's already "very small GUI" in settings), but I won't change the icons I think. Yes, I didn't even think about that. So I guess the compass.pbo is only for people playing with very small GUI. Don't use it if you set it higher. I'll edit the first post about that one. I just tested it on big, it's HUGE :D When you join a server, every difficulty setting is the one set on the server. Yes, the admin can put everything off even for novice but that's not really common. Now you can play without this if you don't like it while others have it activated. It's your choice, just don't accuse anyone of cheating ;) Great idea, I'll write that down on my to-do list. I already have that one done, just not tested. I'll do an update in time :) I'll look into that one too, good idea.

@Shadow: When BIS will release the new tools and unbinarized models it will be easy to add the one from the NAPA guys. Currently no updates are planned, but maybe Mondkalb will get bored and does some more models. But now everyone who can model a bit should be able to make his own glasses. A thread similar to the faces one for Arma 1 and a community pack that collects everything would be great I think. @Alex: As far as I could see in the config every face (thats 117 if I remember correctly) has 6 camo entries. They just don't show in the list, but try Face01_camo1 to Face01_camo6

Mod to disable Motion Blur and Running Blur very needed

Great! Thank you very much :) Seems like I can change my signature... Edit: Done -
Settings: All normal, PP low, 1680x1050 and fillrate 100% I have some problems with the quad under XP, doesn't allways use all cores (with -cpucount=4, but the result above used all 4), graphic artifacts, more loading bucking than with Win7. I'll have to look into that but for now I'll play under Win7 :)
-
I would guess it's the same as with facepacks: Everyone that uses the addon will see them, whoever does not (but why would anyone not use this :D) will just not see them without any errors.

A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Public Release!
scruffy replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Aloha Since I got Arma 2 now I don't see me finishing up this ACE coop mission on Schmalfelden for 6 players. So here it is: Download It comes in 2 versions, _i has instant respawn (with 90sec delay) and _r uses norrins revive script. The _r one is untested so far. You play some spetznas and your objective is to kill an officer and destroy an artillery emplacement. DAC populates most of the land and there are quite a few different positions for officer/artillery so it's more dynamic. What I would have liked to change: - the available loadout is too much, a complete ACE_East crate, so limit yourself a bit - guards in base not properly set up - number of enemies, we didn't play enough/with enough people to properly balance it. But it should be pretty good and it fluctuates because of DAC. -
No Map coords showing on top/bottom

I think it's a problem with widescreen monitors. -
Sound Bug makes game unplayable - who else has it ?
scruffy replied to shadowze's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have got an X-Fi Music and the same problem. Stereo works, but as soon as I set it to surround all sounds play at max. volume regardless of actual distance. As soon as it's hearable it's 100% -dsound crashes the game after first load screen on Win7 64 here, will try with XP. -
@MadDogX: Here is a test with PCIe 1.1/2.0, it depends on the game. @MehMan: For the first COD, there was a reason for high framerates. It uses the Quake 3 Engine, and if you capped them at a specific number (just googled: 43,76,125,140,180,333) you could jump further and higher. Edit: Explanation, and it seems to be relevant for COD 1-4 (I guess that also means 5) Now some questions: I want to upgrade, as I see it now it will be a Q9550 and Radeon 4890 Vapor-X. Is my current power supply strong enough? I have got a Bequiet Straight Power 550W, apart from the new cpu and graphics card I got a Gigabyte P35 DS3R, 4GB DDR2, 3 HDDs, X-Fi + 2 DVD drives. Currently I use a Scythe Mine Rev.B as CPU cooler, will that one work better than the Boxed one for the new CPU?

Complaints about DOF/Blur/Bloom/HDR/Cholesterol etc.etc.
scruffy replied to freeman23's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
The sights have some effects, it's a small blur for rifles, grain filter for tank commander and color correction for gunner sights.I removed the blur with a small addon, but not the grain/colorcorrection. I already posted my opinion, but I thin Hoak put it better: Please make all blur an option, it's too much. -
Whatever they do, we need a solution. As it is now you can easily spot and shoot someone at 500m, but when you get to 50m and closer you can hardly find the body in the grass.
