I think everyone who had a good job and worked hard could own a car in the SU. My granpa had 3 cars and several bikes (not at the same time of course). And he wasn't a kind of party official, he had an average job in a steel construction factory (don't know the right term), but he was a very good worker and got many medals and honorations. He spent the rest of his time in his garden and was looking after his cows, pigs and chickens. His life wasn't as easy as the life of a party official! We had a car too and my parents were average engeneers. And a brand new car in the 60ies was a status symboleverywhere, not only in communist countries.

Patriotism has to do with our society, which is still full of the tribal principles which dominated human living since the very beginning! People have to belong to some kind of group, it's a basic need! Clubs, families, ethnic groups, countries,... and one of the main "tribal formations" our society has is the nationality.

I think It was a good uprising, Shewardnadse cheated in the elections and it was a good reason to drive him out of office. It was also quite fair that he didn't order the army to attack the opposition. IMO it was just performed democracy. In fact the americans could learn something there...

Wow Denoir... Pretty advanced stuff! All those robotic parts weren't out when I still played with Legos. In Fact I still have an old liquor cardboard box full of bricks somewhere in my basement. Only a few medium sets, but still enough to build either a MG, an assault rifle, several handguns, or some medieval weapons. I wish I still had some photos of my AK47 or M4... I think my children will get that box someday and have the same fun I had with it.

Holy crap! Reminds me of my childhood. I've built real sized firerams from lego bricks. They were pretty good IMO, better than other stuff I've seen on the Internet.

LOL I'd say it's not a gun at all... A dummy MG? The only real parts are the carrying handle, the scope, and the bipod.
