  1. Picture that in real life, with 4 inch long goggles, trying to look through a scope
  2. Okay, I'm wondering here what people do once they get all the mods in this list up and working. Do you guys play multiplayer? In order to get the benefit of these mods, wouldn't you have to somehow find a server with this EXACT setup, including the specific modifications like disabling certain SLX features or custom GL4 configs as the OP prescribes? As for single player, don't you find that having all of these changes often totally screws up the missions? For example, playing a mission where you have to assassinate an enemy officer as a sniper wouldn't really be playable because ACE requires you to have a range finder and maybe even a wind gauge in order to make extreme distance shots, but the missions don't spawn you with these items. Even worse than that, it seems that something, somewhere in this mod list is routinely causing triggers and scripts to not function properly. Lastly, having all of these mods increases load times by 4 or 5 times, and has caused my dedicated server to actually crash due to 100% CPU usage on AI dense maps. This isn't a flame or anything, for the most part this mod makes this game 3 times as good, but I'm just having trouble finding an experience that isn't buggy and broken.
  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MultiCam Takistan IMO is just a way for the game to have Afghanistan without worrying about backlash from political correctness police. Therefore, having some MultiCam units would be fitting since they are being implemented in Afghanistan (a.k.a. Takistan). Maybe the grunts get ACU, but SF or a Ranger units based set of characters get the MultiCam, further separating them as elite.
  4. I find that just tapping Q is good enough though don't you?
  5. Well, like I say it's an improvement and the ACE mod is pretty much the only reason I play this game so don't take it as a serious criticism of the work that's been done. I'm very appreciative of the mod.
  6. Well, I definitely thing the footsteps are an improvement. Vanilla the footsteps sound a lot like you have a squire running with you knocking coconuts together. ACE it sounds like you have metal pieces knocking into each other, maybe like two loose magazines hitting each other. Usually soldiers secure their kit and make sure there isn't anything that's going to make a noise like that.
  7. I am also getting this issue. Bullets are going all over the place just like the videos on YouTube of FADE inaccuracy. Of course, I never edited any game files because I use SixUpdater and let it handle everything. That, combined with the fact that I can run the game vanilla and the problem goes away, leads me to believe it's not FADE but something inherently wrong with ACE's ballistics after the update today.
  8. aha! Thanks for letting us know Wolf, I was having the same issue! Just as an update, I paid more careful attention to make sure every detail is exactly as instructed here and it turns out I had ECS installed incorrectly. Now the AI enhancements are there! I loaded this thing up in a mission editor and the AI were going in buildings just like they do in SLX. Looking forward to using this. MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL EVERYTHING CORRECTLY!!! A couple of friends of mine said they were using XAM in combination with SLX and that it may possibly override some of the weapon slowness and recoil, but I will believe it when I see it. Last, in terms of performance, I think the huge amount of smoke that now occurs in battles, namely where vehicles explode and then burn black smoke, slows down the game a lot, at least when you are looking at the smoke. Just as a heads-up on that.
  9. Can't wait for the new update man! I love those SF units that were posted above! I have been messing around with SLX a little bit to see what can be done in terms of fitting it into this compilation, but unfortunately everything is intertwined together, it's not modular like ECS. I have not yet seen ECS's AI enhancements because I have not ran a dedicated server, but boy does SLX make a difference in terms of the AI. Instead of a bunch of AI going prone when they see each other, then shooting a shot, then getting back up and running straight at each other to repeat the process, SLX has these huge firefights with explosions and tracers everywhere and smoke and debris going off. I even made a mission where I just placed a bunch of guys randomly throughout that little town on Ramadi and then ran through, and they were flanking me and getting up on rooftops and stuff. It was just awesome and totally does more for realism than any other mod I have seen. However, it also seems to be incompatible with a lot of stuff, as it attempts to do a lot of things besides just the AI. For instance, it makes every weapon have the recoil of an elephant gun. I've shot these rifles before and they certainly do not kick like this! They also make you move your weapon around a lot slower. Don't know why they did that, it just makes it seem like you have terrible FPS. These are the main qualms I have with this mod. The reason I bring them up here is if someone out there is able to find a way to disable just these aspects but keep the amazing AI improvements (not to mention the awesome wound system! it could be added to this section and really make this whole thing a lot better.
