Why would it be scrap money making? BIS is a business - they have bills to pay, employees to pay and (understandably) they want to make some profit, too. As long as they do a decent job, what's wrong with that? So far we benefited from their committment and if they have trouble in the current economy, I'm willing to help them out. I'd like to remind everyone what happened to A1 at the release: BIS was running out of money and they released a half-baked game that eventually pissed off everyone. It was a sneaky, underhanded move, something I wouldn't tolerate again. This time, however, they're trying to do the right thing: they said clearly that they don't have enough revenue and they're actually asking us, customers / players if we'd be willing to pay for extra content. As far as I'm concerned, it's a win-win situation: we get more stuff, better engine, more features and they get revenue that they can use to reinvest. Just because they plan to give away core features for free, it's not free for them to develop those features. If anything, it's a nice gesture that they try to keep the community as a whole by not introducing different core features for paid players. Plus, when new content is released, everyone will have a chance to decide whether to buy it or not. As much as I want to support these guys, I'm not blind and I'll only pay for quality. If we get quality, I'll be glad to buy it.

Agreed, with one addition: this is all based on the assumption that BIS doesn't slowly start closing the game to pave the way to all-paid content. If the game stays moddable as it is now (with the newer features available through scripting), I don't mind paying for content if it helps BIS to stay around. As I said in the past, I wouldn't mind paying for a full, official rework of OFP and ArmA1 to the A2:OA engine.

I wouldn't mind even paying for such an official addon - one that brings all A2 content to the same level (features, etc.) as their A2:OA counterparts. I, too, would like to mix the various factions on various islands. -

If all those settings have 2 distinct values (on / off), then you have 2 ^ 4 = 16 combinations, not 256. -
You know Mandoble, you should totally make a few more missions. Triple blow was pretty decent.

MrN, do you plan on porting this mission (or Dynamic War) to Takistan? I loved your DynWay mission and would like to see a version with the Army SF against the Takiban.

Make sure you have no spaces after the ';'-s in your command line. Also, you have a dash missing in front of nosplash. I had very weird issues in OA when I missed a dash in front of a parameter. -

Hungarian: Eltelt Idő: If you don't have the 'ő' character, you can also use 'ö' - it's incorrect but still ok. As a last resort, you can also write only: Eltelt: -
You just create an addon folder for them (for example @PROPER\Addons), copy the ones you want to use and then add -mod=@PROPER to your shortcut. Once you start the game, you'll have the changes from the addons you selected. You don't have to use all of them - the way Kju structured them, you can pick and choose the ones you need. It's really nice.

Also, expect a relatively steep learning curve with this game (compared to other games) if you're new to the series. It took me 40+ hours of playtime back with Operation Flashpoint to configure my keys to how I like them and A2:OA has many more shortcuts. Spend some time to reconfigure your keys to what's easy to use for you and then make a backup copy of your profile. Welcome, btw. As for the green reticle, look for Kju's PROPER addons in the MODS COMPLETE forum. He has an addon that changes the reticle to white. It's much more visible than the green.

I have to say I'd prefer not to have this. It's not that I have anything against more features in the game, but I'd rather not simulate digging a hole, etc. The current possibility of having an action menu item is enough in my opinion for these rare needs. Even for wirecutters (which could be very handy), I think an action menu item would be enough. I'd rather have BI work on more important parts of the game.

In general, you're right, but A2 is not a zombie, knight, etc. game, it's a military simulator. I'd vote against the knife simply because I think the effort that'd go into adding them can be used better on other parts of the game.

I certainly hope so that we'll see an ArmA3. More addons to OA would be welcome, too. A2:OA is two hands down the most awesome military game out there.

1. Q, thank you very much for all the stuff you did for us. ArmA and ArmA 2 wouldn't even be playable for me without many of the addons you made. I hope you reconsider and come back. 2. Can someone actually help out KaBoNG instead of bitching and whining?? He actually made something that would be useful.
