Possible v1.05 Upgrade Issue with certain chipsets
xerxes1er replied to MugHug's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Very interesting story. Especially cause I have been experiencing such a pbm for age with (ONLY) OFP first and now Arma but never noticed such advice anywere. If it works, you'll save a big part of my life... By the way, could you please detail how to turn off DMA settings on my motherboard please (which is an Asus A8N SLI Prenium supporting my AMD 64 4000+) ? -
I bought at the begining the Morphicon german version of Arma with which I did not have any problem like CTD or so few. However, after bying my second copy (the 505 Games ones) last week, I got similar problem than Avman in multiplayer after between 5 and 40 minutes. Indeed, after 30 min in average of play in multiplayer, I all the time get a CTD with the following information stored in my XP Error reporting (in msinfo32) : 19/02/2007 12:39 Application Error Application défaillante arma.exe, version 1.4.0.5121, module défaillant arma.exe, version 1.4.0.5121, adresse de défaillance 0x0042e775. Note that all my hardware driver are up to date making me very disapointed at the moment. Note that I manage to uninstall the German version prior to install the 505 one by cleaning the registry thanks to the Ccleaner tool and deleting my Arma and Arma other profiles manually. However, I wonder why after the re-installation, my other profile re-appear by default after a new installation making me think that's the uninstallation was not so clean. Any of you would have any idea for both the profile stuff and especially the recurrent CTD on Multi would be welcome. My spec : AMD 64 4000+ (not above 40°C) 2 Go RAM Corsair value (tested ok with MEMTEST) Motherboard A8N SLI PRENIUM Nvidia Asus NExtreme 7800 GTX 256 (not above 65°C) Power Supply HIPER AL-HPU-4B580-MU (580 W) Realtek AC'97 Audio

Sorry, still don't find how to place a Game Logic in my Editor while I have already a unit set to player as you adviced... No object available to setup either. I wonder what's wrong here. Wouldn't I suppose to find the Game Logic by inserting a new Unit in the map ? Update : spotted the problem by re-reading your advice : I setup first a unit "playable" and then another unit where this time Game Logic was available. Thank you very much mate Wolfrug

Hi, I downloaded the v1.7 of your script. In the European version 1.4, I cannot perform your third step : (3. Create a game logic, named "server", that initialized the script: nul=["init"] execVM "ups-f.sqf") Indeed, I cannot find how to create a Game Logic (no present in the Unit Selection of my Editor)... Can you help me or would it be a lack in the last release of the Game ? I already tried in my German version of the game your previous version (before conversion to sqf syntax) but at this time, this third step was not required if I well remember). Sorry if I am too much novice with the editing stuffs (but that's what I appreciate so much your work to facilitate editing work )

Sorry if I have some trivial or maybe stupid questions which are the following but I'm a bit novice with this sever configuration : 1) I cannot see by dedicated server displayed on this web page which show all online web page that I found on this forum : http://stats.swec.se:3001/server/list 2) I don't know really the meaning of the ReportingIP= statement present in my Server.cfg file. What is its purpose exactly ? - I have however noticed that ReportingIP="" allow the display in both of the LAN and Internet screen within the Multiplayer screen of the game - while setuping ReportingIP=207.38.11.34 (or my own IP adress) will allow my dedicated server to be display in the LAN one only. 3) I know that it's not very efficient to setup a dedicated server on the same PC that the one that I use for playing, but it was for testing. However, I wanted to know if thanks the shortcut (Arma.exe -config=Server.cfg -port=2302) if I could have any issue with my Game registration Key (even if I know that the ArmA_Server.exe doesn't need any DVD) ? Thanks in advance for your time.

How to play CZ/GER version completely in English
xerxes1er replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
... ... Installing twice is no problem... you can also just copy your game to "ArmA Online" or sth similair. Only when you wish to install a new official game patch, you will have to run it once, then when it's finished go into your registry editor and change the path at: HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\Software\Bohemia Interactive Studios\ArmA\MAIN, to the path where you isntalled the other game, and then run the patch again to patch that version up. You can export the mentioned registry key twice, for both paths, and just import one, patch it, and then import the other one. Hope this is a bit understandable Again thank you Sickboy. To be honnest, I have understood by going for instance on my HKLM path dedicated to OFP and see how it was. I saw that two values were present : one called KEY and the other called MAIN (as you said) and main was the path of my game installation. I was not aware that official patches usually look at this HKLM location for validating the existence of the game prior to go ahead. It sounds now very clear (I hope lol) and consistent to me to proceed like you adviced. As soon as I'll get the game (hopefully tomorrow morning from ARMAzon.de ), once installed I'll export&import my two game locations registry keys one by one for applying the official patches. Take care. Cheers !! -

Hi Sickboy, At first thank you for all your work dedicated to the community. Actually, you've got Arma and you spend all your time helping everybody having problem. I wondered if you had time to enjoy your game so far, hadn't you ? I also wanted to know if there was any risk to have our official game Installation Key be kicked or banned after joining a server online after patching with your v.0.6. If the risk existed, I wondered if we could install the game twice on the same PC with one of them remaining in German for online purpose while the other installation directory would be dedicated only for playing single and campain for instance ? I would like to have your opinion when you have some time later on. Again thank you a lot for your generosity. You're a real model !!! -
I''m very impressed by this forum and by the BIS' involvement toward the community. It's great and it deserve congratulations to BIS especially for this quick patch. I'm looking forward to getting my Arma normal edition box bought to amazon.de which has been sent yesterday morning for France. Hopefully, it will be a Xmas present in advance for me (even if I don't understand anything in german...)
-
Do you mean than Amazon.de usually sends to us starting from the release date or would the game be likely to be received in our personal letter box in the morning of the release date (despite the : "Noch nicht beim Verlag erschienen" at the end of their today email) ?... Anyway I can wait few more days but I salivate in advance.
-
I also received today the same kind of email from my pre order Amazon.de but at a lower price :-) "Armed Assault" [Computerspiel] ALTER PREIS NEUER PREIS EUR 47,33 EUR 43,25 Hope it has already been sent to France...

Thanks, indeed, I have been able to read the Artillery and Airstrike videos with VLC just installed. Cool... It's pretty good even if we don't have some pieces of building destroyed still stand up like ruins to keep close to the reality. I would have enjoyed to see some fire and the smoke remaining longer... It's a pity that we have no trace of the destroyed building after the airstrike effects completed, but we can easily understand that it might have been difficult to realise this on a performance point of view on a so huge map. Maybe we'll get it later on in a mod...
-
Curious, still doesn't work with Dvix v6.4... Never mind... I'll wait my copy from Morphicon in about two weeks to enjoy.
-
Sorry if someone could help to read this video. I only have the sound available. Actually, I can read almost all videos of Arma since the release except about 15 or 20 % of them. I have both the last version of winanp and WMP v.10. Thanks and sorry to appear so noob Last videos which cannot displayed its images are Artillery and Airstrike while for instance EXCLUSIVE_Arma_Montage (the big 197 Mo) is fine.

I've searched a little an official announcement from Placebo that I already read about CTI some months ago and found the following one : It's a short extract of an interview to Placebo on the Gaming Area site end of August dated (http://www.ga.com.ba/clanak/514.html): Tenga: How does the BIS CTI (Capture The Island) differentiate from the community-made CTIs already available for Operation Flashpoint. Paul: Our CTI will trim a little of the fat away from the core principle of CTI and present it in a leaner, trimmer way to make the concept a little more approachable to the general populous. According to me, it doesn't mean that the new BIS 'CTI' mod won't be interesting. More approachable can be also quite interesting especially on such a huge Island like Sahrani...

Hello, Thanks to read the recurrent issue that I get with my new PC where no cracks are installed, no spyware, no virus are present. Description of my problem : I've reinstalled my OFP resistance original version (3 boxes OFP, Red Hammer and Resistance) apparently successfully until I try to play. Indeed, I cannot play more than 15 minutes in average cause my OFP resitance crashs to the Windows XP deskop regardless of the mission or mpmission played. Note that the problem occurs even if I installed Addons or Not. I installed the patch and game as you adviced which is : - installation of OFP CD original edition - afterwards installation of patchs v1.11; v1.20 ; (check ofp_1_20 Ok), v1.30 ; v1.46 - installation of Resitance orignal edition (v1.75) - installation of the patch OFPResitancev1.96 My PC Config is as below : AMD 64 4000+ (Core San Diego) - 2407.7 MHz Motherboard : Asustek A8N SLI PRENIUM (v1.02) - Bios (05/30/2005 dated) 2GB DDR-SDRAM Corsair (VS1GB400C3 - speed PC3200U 3.0-3-3-8)) Graphic Card : Nvidia 7800 GTX 256 Mo (Driver ForceWare v91.31) OS : XP Family Version 2002 - Service Pack 2 (up to date) AVG 7.1 Firewall & Anti Virus (bought the licence) - AdWare & Spybot often run. Note that I have such a problem with OFP Resistance only while Fear Combat, Farcry, HL2, BF2 don't have it. You'll see below a part of my Flashpoint.rpt which shows a recurrent access violation. I am quite desesperate at the moment and your help would be very welcome as you can expect... Especially cause I'm reading forum for 2 weeks now without getting any clue (despite many attempts to configure my game in several way)...:-( Many thanks in advance for your help. OFP crash to Deskop after 15min whatever mission
xerxes1er replied to xerxes1er's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
I'm quite surprised that all recent games are working fine on my PC while OFP in Multi crashes to the Desktop before 30 min. Note that playing alone (with no others human being in the map) can be stable during several hours without crashing. I'm still disapointed. I contacted the Codemaster support aswell which gived me up after several help advices to make me try and followed in vain... Any idea from someone ? -
Yep convoy will definitely be a key sucess of the new BIS 'CTI' mod. Btw, what do you mean when you say that ARMA is not yet 'Stable' ? Have you heard about any main issues in Arma so far from Czech ?
-
What a pity that it is not a real CTI in Arma like we expected. Anyway it's true that BIS hasn't promised us anything except a multiplayer game which would allow us to play during several days without restarting the map... Do you think it will be possible to play like this so long with this kind of CTF improvement
-
I've just pre-ordered the german version and am looking forward to being awake for long night playing Arma (even if I won't understand anything in that language...).
-
Great, thanks Ian for your screenshots. Have you tried yet a multiplayer mission like CTI for instance. Don't know if it's allowed to answer this question here ?

OFP crash to Deskop after 15min whatever mission
xerxes1er replied to xerxes1er's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
I'll probably buy a new soundcard a bit later. I'm a bit disappointed for the time being actually, cause it sounds that the crash happened even if the Hardware acceleration of my Realtek AC97 is disable in both XP and OFP. Indeed, even after lowering all the others settings, it's vain cause I get the crash to the Deskop ramdomly on a time played point of view before arising. I spent the last couple of days testing to find out the origin of this problem. I've noticed that this crash issue occured especially when I play at the first person... Any idea ? Cheers -
OFP crash to Deskop after 15min whatever mission
xerxes1er replied to xerxes1er's topic in TROUBLESHOOTING
You spotted the prob !!! So thank you. I have desactivated my Sound Hardware acceleration in the XP Control Panel successfully. The outcome was great. So great that I could put almost at their maximum all Video Options and use the AutoDetect feature aswell. The result was impressive cause I played for 2 hours and half without any crash on high level included 1280 x 1024 x 32 (i/o 15 min with low video settings described in my first post). I'll probably setup my video setting a bit lower in order to make longer game without any prob but it's a very good start hopefully. I will be able to wait for Armed Assault now in better condition. Thanks again all of you.
