"Forward tank" would be a concept hard to translate. It is something found in the "VAB" term : Vehicule de l'Avant Blindé (Forward Armored Vehicle), but the same concept applied to tank would make a weird sentence : "Tank de l'Avant de la Mort" ... "Mortel Tank de l'Avant" could do it

"Avant Le Char De Mort"? Â Â Is it a translation of an english sentence you'd like to see in french, or do you really want this exact sentence? Cause it doesn't mean much in french

Well, this is not just copy/paste from a list some1 gives me. I'll check the log to see the occurence of IDs, ask admins on my server, try to see if there is clan players (which means that 90% of the time the ban comes from some gripe by an admin, so has not to be on another server). On the same level, I don't ban unless I'm quasi-sure the guy is cheating (multiple LAW firing, vehicle creation, continuous super speed moving, not just lag issues), so my ban list is short. That's how it should be handled between admins, IMO. "Knowhing" some1 is something I won't require, as I don't "know" many server admins ;)

I'll summarize what Ran said by this : "Horrido, I love you". There is more underway that it seems As a french I would like to point that such comments are in no way normal french behaviour

Well, plain and simple, CTI killed many hours of game for many pple on my server. Simply holding the server during 2h30 for 12, then (15mn later) 8, then (20mn later) 6 pples, while at that hours we used to be like 20-25 playing. When it resorted to players being verbally abused for not selecting a CTI mission, I simply deleted CTI's. Enough is enough.

Thanks ALOT Sigma. Are your previous version of T Series tanks still compatible with this (in terms of armor/gun values)? Or do you think some things were wrong in the T Series? I can't wait for your update on the russian ones! One more thank you, just for the record Whis'

But I can't find the Linux dedi version. Client patch, win32 server and hotfix, Linux hotfix, ok. But nowhere to find Linux server....

About making a movie out of the Silmarrilion, one thing I would love to see is Turin story, the best Tolkien's story imho. This and narration of how Gondolin was built, lived and fought, and finally collapsed (which is kind of connected to Turin's story). Moria the best part of the movie? Sure, because it's the best part of the books! It's the only time I was scared (it was midnight, I was alone in the dark when I first read the "drums in the deep ... dum dum dum dum" thing ) while reading a book. Anyway, because of the "it's new" aspect, FOTR is for me the best of the 3 (but not yet seen extended version of ROTK and extended are always wayyyy better than originals). Blake, you are right on spot, the party-based adventure makes you more involved. I first saw it with friends I was regularly playing RPG. The first reaction we had just coming out of the cinema was "Wow! Now I KNOW why trolls are tough to defeat!" . I can't wait for the ROTK extended version!

I wouldn't have cut like what I've just seen, it seems imbalanced. I wouldn't have mind some shorter scenes. I wouldn't have mind some better actors play. I would have like to see a good french translation, not something crappy which makes some sentences look really stupid. But one word pop up in my mind, just as I get out. Awesome! Perfect conclusion. Sad and tough. Really brilliant. Even when PJ got a little off the original story, he just fall perfectly back on his feet to get back on the Tolkien scheme. War scenes are perfect, Nazgul scary, Rohirrim charge... breathetaking. I'm sure I've witnessed every single rider's death, it's so intense. And, more important, everything is perfectly explained. The scene with the hobbit in the inn is perfect, for example. A must see.

Irscanrange, question to bis
whisperFFW06 replied to whisperFFW06's topic in OFP : CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Something else : you said that if there is no irScanRange, Min, Max and scanToEye factor is used. But, how can there be "no irScanRange"? If it is fixed for a parent class, it is fixed for all children classes. How can I "unset" it? By fixing it to zero? Whis' -
Hi, Since 1.90, I think, some changes have been made to the scanRange definitions in config. We currently have the following paramters defined in commented config 1.91 : irScanRangeMin irScanRangeMax There's no explanation in commented configs. I can see what's the purpose of irScanRangeMax : above this distance, units won't appear on radar. From this distance, units will begin to appear, more and more precisely (the red dot will be more and more red). But, irScanRangeMin, I don't get it : will targets nearer to the unit than irScanRangeMin remain undetected, or will they be detected whatever the situation? Will targets under irScnaRangeMin be never detected, or always? Second question : is there an absolut maximum to irScanRange? I've never been able to detect something above 5km roughly, even after putting irScanRangeMax to something like 15km. And some other various questions : Does camouflage affect ir detection? Or only visible? Does sensitivity affect ir detection? Or is it only a visible detection factor when inside vehicle? And what is irScanToEyeFactor? Whis'

Checked the post before leaving home... Checked once more when arriving at office... and woohooo, an angel as passed during that time Thanks alot, Suma! Great feature, making sensors dependent on environmental conditions. About absolut maximum detection distance, is it possible to detect anything past 5000m, with settings like irScanRange=10000 ? I've yet to see it -
Getting your addon to work in ecp
whisperFFW06 replied to snYpir's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I can't see anything wrong with the way you described it, snYpir. It doesn't affect addons in any way, it's only a single line, in fact, why would any1 refuse? Gotta pass the info to our cpp guys so that new and updated addons will include this. Thanks for the tip. BTW, is there any other general info like this permitting more "sharing" and standardization amongst addons? Ho! And is it possible to suscribes ideas to ECP? Just ideas, or implementations if done, or whatever could help you. -
Hi, Just a little off-topic question (not really, it is for an internal version of bradley we would use ), is there any max value for irScanRangeMax? I've never been able to detect a chopper over 5km with irScanRangeMax set to 8000 in my Linebacker

What addon is everyone waiting for?
whisperFFW06 replied to MrZig's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
FDF, RHS. I didn't see anything about it, but if anyone is planning on a Ka-52 Hokum (the 2 seater version), it would be a blast! -
A plea : plz do NOT make it too powerfull. Munger's proposition of a 2 RPG shots hits from certain angle, and only 1 from other I see fit perfectly for the A2 version (I saw reports of both bradley surviving (in bad shape) RPG shots and destroyed by RPG, not completely, but utterly useless after being hit). If possible to ensure that the crew survive 1 shot, it would be ok And use the manualControl thing (I don't remember right how we did for Eryx, but that's exactly what BIS did with the Carl Gustav : auto-guided when in rookie mode, manual guided when in veteran mode, in fact it's an option in the difficulties settings). Well, anyway I'm pretty sure you know everything about this Just a reminder ;)

Yet to see materials about 100% launch detection, this things are pretty hard to do. That's what I find unrealistics about simulated countermeasures, they are far too effective. 1) Heat seeking missile won't be detected 100% of the time at launch 2) If the distance is too short, the flare will be ineffective (perceived speed of the flare is too high for the seeker) 3) Modern heat seekers have way to get past the flare and keep locked on the real target. In fact, many flares are launched for having a reasonable chance to fool the seeker. So there are basically 2 things a bit overdone, it is the detection working 100% of the time, and the effectiveness of the flare itself (once launched). This, plus the fact that there is no proximity fuze on AA missiles, makes countermeasures way too efficients.

There I've got a big issue : nearestObject requires exact class name and do not work, AFAIK, with meta-classes. So I can't check for a nearestObject of class "helicopter" or "air". And I can't know the target of a "fired" event, so I can't get the exact class of the intended target. That's why I used incomingMissile. I've no clue how to scan for "Air" targets around an object or position.
-
Dho... just re-thinking : script is launched on target's PC (a chopper, with incomingMissile EH, local test of chopper (local driver _helicopter) to implement a TWS), missile is launched by another player being SAM gunner, so (I guess) missile is not local to the PC playing the script. I need a proximity fuze as AA missile too often miss, and to add some smoke effect (see LOMAC explosions). Would camCreating an object not local to the missile detonate the missile?
-
Thanks Dinger! Hehehe, proximity fuze on the way
-
Does it works with createObject? (multiplayer issue)
