Ok, then I am totally deaf and blind and probably dumb to the one point you made. I don't see other points from you. Name them, I want to hear names, I don't want to hear whether there were several cases or whether I have to look harder. I want names. Why is he still posting, especially today, look in the Eyewear thread. All I could read in his hand gun topic were leaked hand guns pictures. And anyway, if there were models stolen this is obviously an internal thing. I want to hear steals of released addon models. It could happen, but it need not. You are saying that there will myriads of CS-kiddies stealing models and re-release them as their own. I have to repeat, even the recently stolen Ranger textures were credited to BAS and no released as own work. (It's bad to not ask though) It will be downloaded mainly by CS kiddies and wannabees? I think that Mod Makers will download it mainly. And still I ask myself why it'd be so easy to throw together different model parts into one. I can't imagine that it'd be that easy, especially for your dumb CS kiddy, who can't use O2. Yes, after he downloaded p3dEdit he will be able to edit everything in OFP, and all of a sudden he posesses all the abilities needed to turn someone's addon into hisself. Before Binarize was released people had no choice, and they were modding though, am I right, or am I right? Back in those days every original addon was MLOD and everyone could take them, move a vertex and re-release this "new" model as his own. But was it really done in those masses you are suggesting? No, it wasn't, and back in those days there were much much more kiddies in the OFP community than today (I still remember that excessive spam and flaming in some comment boards; this was much worse than OFP.info in the last days, before closing comments), when most of those morons have moved to other games. EDIT: some wrong words.

I listed two model steals I can remember since the long history of the community. You are talking about like there were hordes of CS-kiddies just waiting to move a vertex in your model and rerelease it as their own addon. I want to hear exactly which addon models were stolen thus far, and I'll re-ask this question until hell is frozen or someone provides me a really big list of models which were stolen from other addon makers. Yeah, and as soon as p3dEdit is released they will be able to use p3dEdit and/or O2, which was too hard before. You can guarantee nothing. I don't think that addon-steals will skyrocket because there weren't so many steals in the history of the OFP-community, although so many files are not encrypted like scripts, textures, configs. Heck, look at Inquisitors "Do-It-Yourself"-M4! How many modifications of it were released? And this one was a very high quality-addon which was intended to be "stolen"!!! No, I see advantages in the release of such a tool. I see abandoned Addons that can be reworked for todays quality. I see people who can modify an addon for personal use. I see people who can learn how the wizards of the addon-scene make their addons. I hope you see that many addon makers started by editing other people's work (namely BIS). Back in those days nobody cried about it, but now there are people crying about people stealing addons, like it was happening every day and it happened to themselves.

There is already one that is called ODOLExplorer coming with WrpTool. And I have to say that I'm with noundo on this one. And I repeat myself the second time, since nobody, really nobody, has answered my question thus far. How often had we stolen models when all Addons were MLOD? And perhaps you don't know, there are still people who release their addons in MLOD format today, but still I have to see some unauthorized modification released under someone's else name. I guess that majority of users of a public P3Dedit would be looking into the MLODs either for "educational" purposes or for personal modification of the addons.

Right Click, Save Image as... (depends on Browser)

You can add sunglasses only if you define new Identities (through CfgIdentities) in your description.ext; there you can set name, face, speaker and of course glasses.
-
You don't have to change any textures. Just make a new addon with a CfgGlasses-section (look in the official Config.cpp). EDIT: Of course you have to make a new texture, but obviously you made one. PS: My Pilot will come with golden sunglasses (check the Nighthawk thread) which I think look a little bit like aviator sunglasses.

Hi, I remember that someone was doing a Fiat 126: I can't find the thread with the pictures any more, also I couldn't find any download for it. Anyone knows, what happened to it?

Yeaah, ODOL converters going mad... Â Â

Model is visible through light
vektorboson replied to Lockheed Martin-ch's topic in OFP : O2 TROUBLESHOOTING
Hi, in case you didn't solve this bug yet, I have found a solution. The solution is: Make at least 2 LODs. I had this problem, too, some of my models had this problem, some not. After making a less detailed LOD the problem disappeared. EDIT: btw, you shoud make anyway more LODs, so slow computers can run your addons too. -
A very big thanks to you, Denoir

Well, he could release the files, so someone could finish it

Hyk modern u.s. infantry pack released
vektorboson replied to hyakushiki's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
@Baphomet At first I regarded you a bit offensive, but now looking at the recent development of addons, I can say, that I share more and more of your views. Addon makers tend to think today that their addons will be used alone in missions, so it seems. How could you explain that every new released addon gets more polygons and textures with a higher resolution? @Bobcatt666 I'm sorry but I don't share your opinion. Which dammage takes an addon maker from people who are tweaking someone's units to their preferences? Like Baphomet already said, it's probably the ego that takes dammage, but I have to say, come over it then. How many people are saying that BIS models and textures look crappy, that BIS config is crappy? I don't see Maruk, Suma or some other BIS guy going to gamer's home and beating them to death, because some people are adjusting, tweaking their favorite game/addon to their needs. Yes, they get money, but you only get reputation; this reputation is surely not dammaged by people modifying your work. I hate that guy who started all this "you may not change anything"-thing in the readme. -
Ok, I'll repeat myself once more: I have yet to see someone who stole a Model. There are many Addons on the Internet which are MLOD and not ODOL. Just to name a few: FlipeR's M4 Pack, Kegety's russian weapons pack, the HK-pack and many vehicles (I think Marfy GAZ is MLOD), which I think are still high quality. I can only remember that someone took the cockpit from Kegetys Hawk, the first O2 made and released addon. Then I can remember something with Hawk's M109, which was taken from DKMM's ADATS. And obviously many of you miss one advantage being able to hack someone's models. What about those plenty abandoned models? Why shouldn't some O2 beginner take one of those abandoned addons and try to fix the bugs, which made it useless but nobody could fix it because it was binarized? I still think that the benefits are higher than the disadvantages, and you would've made addons even if Binarize never would've been released, wouldn't you? Somehow people were making high quality addons before Binarize, and people will make high quality addons after such a tool would be released.

I think FDF and CSLA have resized BMPs
-
Hi, it's not about the size on the hard drive, but it's about the size in memory. It still will be 35 MB, whether you compress the PBO or not. I'd advise you that you make the addon uncompressed under 8 MB. This is reasonably for 4 trucks. Don't get me wrong, they are very nice, but I can't play with them, and I won't play with them, unless they aren't such a memory beast.
-
The AI is attacking the Pasi with hand grenades (and in Original OFP they throw hand grenades at the M113, not sure about BMP, though). I think it's all about the dammage the weapon will make. Let's take the Hind for example. Nobody will fire at it, unless your Machine Gun is strong enough. I've made tests where it needed hitDammage > 30 for AI engaging the Hind. The molotovs are probably scripted with the Fired-EventHandler. So basically you can make a bigger hitDammage, remove the Molotov object after throwing it, and replacing it with one that has smaller hitDammage. Thus the AI should attack even heavier armoured targets.
-
The download is 17 MB, but the Zil PBO is 35,5 MB. And then you have still the PBO for the Russian Driver, and the Effects.pbo.
-
Yes, really nice. 35,5 MB for four trucks. Sorry, but this is really madness. They will only appear in combat photography, but don't think about using them in any mission.
-
I have seen recently seen some pictures of HALO-units and thought, that they look almost the same, so this is a good idea! To all the others: Thanks for all your kind words and comments. The pilot will be released before the F-117; you might've noticed that I haven't released any pictures of the cockpit, it gets a face lift. Â

@CheekyMonkey Ok, now there will be no excuse, not using your OFPEC-tag because it is here!!! texreplacer.rar 116 KB You can use it as follows: On the command line type: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> texreplacer YOURTAG_ier weapon.p3d if you got \ak47s\tex.paa it will make \YOURTAG_ier\tex.paa The same is explained in the readme. Beware that also textures from data will be referenced with YOURTAG_ier.
-
That's because in MLOD-p3d the texture filename+path are stored in a 32 byte long string. You can change the path to textures easily with a hexeditor if you keep the path the same length: \tag_foo\tex.paa -> \newpath\tex.paa will work, because they have the same length, where \tag_foo\tex.paa -> \bar\tex.paa won't work because they don't have the same length. In this case (when replacing "tag_foo" with "bar") you are shifting some bytes to the left, your string is shorter than 32 bytes, this will give you errors.
-
Update on the pilot: Well, I'm not really pleased with the textures, but those should do it. As you see on the pictures, I made only the flight suit, no life vest and no Anti-G-Gear (but the Anti-G-Gear shouldn't be anything other, than just a texture, whereas the life vest would be modelling). There are also some animation probs, because the "Air Combat Command"-badge is sometimes cut off by the chest, same for the name patch. I made the pouches as a first step to the vest. Also, I'll rearrange the O2-hose so it doesn't float around like that now. Anyway, you shouldn't see this guy in the battlefield anywhere besides in a plane (and with exception of bailing out!) As for release date, I won't say, but it should be soon; anyone can then take it and retexture, rework it; if someone's version is superior to mine, then I'll re-release it with this custom version Â

Bad to know, that P3Dedit has those errors. Is this for all Resistance Models (like Buildings, Vehicles) or only for the civilian models? How much work is needed to fix all errors made by p3dEdit? And to add to the p3dEdit-release a bad thing, keeping noobs from modifying other people's work, and all the other "disadvantages"... I hardly can remember anyone taking someones model which came in MLOD, modifying it slightly and releasing it. Think about the HK-Pack... it is completely MLOD and I have yet to see someone who has changed, or taken the weapons without permission from Vipersheart and released it with minor modifications. There are many more addons, like Kegetys East Weapons pack or Fliper's M4 pack; All I can remember are stolen textures. Weird isn't it? I'll go, contrary to many people, the other way, release my models to the public, and anyone can change it. This way I hope, that people will produce better addons by reusing model parts or modifying the model. Just my 2 cents.

As already said, this is a game engine bug.
