Hi, this is just to clear up as there is the myth that BIS owns your addons, which is wrong. First of all, here is the O2Light license we all agree to, when installing O2Light: Now to all people who say, BIS owns our models, please show me the statement. There is no such statement; the myth stems probably from this paragraph: You agree that BI Studio and/or its licensors own all right, title and interest in the Software and in all patents, trademarks, trade names, inventions, copyrights, know how and trade secrets relating to the design, manufacture, operation or service of the Software.. As you see at the end, there stands of the Software, not "of the content created with the software". Just to make it clear: You own your work, not BIS. BIS never claims ownership of your work, BIS claims ownership over O2Light (which we all agree to, don't we?) and acompanying media ("data" and "data3D"). BIS just imposes restrictions for commercial exploitation of O2light created models. So please refrain in future from posting the "BIS owns us"-nonsense we have seen lately. Nuff said Â

Well, I really like the original setting of OFP in '85 (with Resistance being '84). What I need is someone who can show me the direction what equipment was used between 1980 and 1985 for both NATO and Warsaw Pact nations. And I mean literally everything: Rifles, Machine Guns, Backpacks, Radios, short: personal equipment, but also vehicles: Jeeps, Trucks, APCs/IFVs, Armor, Helos and Jets.. I'd like to know especially for US, West Germany, East Germany and Soviet Union, but other nations are welcome, too. I guess, visiting sites like fas.org is a must, though it's pretty tough to find out, when what vehicles were used (example: what was the predecessor of the 5t truck in OFP?) If someone knows a site that describes military equipment in the early 80s, I'd appreciate posting a link to it. I hope it doesn't sound like I want it on a silver plate (but it'd be nice! ) Â Â

I don't plan anything, I just want to stuff all that info into my head and live with it  Of course I've got some plans, but I don't want to announce anything. You know, all the Mods that are announced and vanish after some weeks or months? (though this project is almost 4 years old...) I'm only going to announce what it is, when we got our first major release.

Taken the time? Surely, you mean taken the money...Don't know about you, but i'm poor as a who**. I think he meant in the readme, claiming ownership for your work and an explicit EULA, i think it would be wise for people to compile one and include it with their addons. Shouldnt be too hard although for some it might be kind of late... You do not need to claim ownership for your work, as you are the owner of your work, regardless if there is an EULA or not. But you can place it under public domain, which has to be done explicitly. But if you really have to include an EULA, then please don't use any Lawyer-speak, as there will be as much confusion as in the O2Light license. (think of all those non-english-speakers) Just state what is allowed, what not.

Wow, thanks a lot for that link. I didn't know about it (probably because I have a dislike for hex-based games). But that encyclopedia-thing is very nice. @Ironsight Thanks for that info, I probably use the wrong keywords in google, I've seen some M7xx or M8xx, but no M35! @Hellfish Thanks for your offer; I'll ask you, when it comes to details, for now that WinSP-game will suffice to get the "big picture".

Isn't that connected to the models you create by the software, since making a model in O2 is a operation of the software. I think you got this a little wrong... (No offense) I think you got this a little wrong, no offense either. Models are the result of an operation, not the operation itself. You get the right to operate the software; BIS has the right to disallow you to operate the software. ''own all right, title and interest in the Software and in all patents, trademarks, trade names, inventions'' Notice the ''inventions'' part, is a model from Oxygen not an ''invention'' from it's creator? It's not an invention regarding the software. Invention in software means, that you introduce some revolutionary algorithms or workflow (actually we could argue about that, but this is meant). Read that sentence again: Nothing in this Agreement shall change BI Studio's or any of its licensors' ownership rights to their respective intellectual property, ... We are the licensors of this software, and this agreement doesn't change our rights regarding our IP. So even if there is a passage in the license, where BIS says: We own your work, that passage would be invalid because of this sentence, as everything we create is our "intellectual property" (I really hate that word! no matter what the license says.

Well, I agree that the iron sights should be improved, but we don't need "kickass iron sights". I want to line up the iron sights with the enemy and shoot him, not staring at them and telling myself how good they look. All those high detail iron sights just detract from the targets.

Crosshair in 3D-view is not a bug; the probem where you hit is simply not decisible because you are projecting a 3D-scene on a 2D-screen. Just a simple question: When you are aiming into the air (in 3D-view), where actually should the cross hair appear? The difference between 1st person view and 3rd person view is, that in 1st person you have a line of sight with the cross hair and can therefore put the cross hair in an "infinite" distance, the bullet can't get "behind" the cross hair. In 3rd person view the case is different: The line of sight begins from the 3D-model, not from your screen, therefore you have to project the cross hair somewhere on that line of sight, but not in the infinite distance (in that case you probably could not see the cross hair). Therefore the bullet can get "behind" the cross hair and can hit anywhere but not where the cross hair points to. I hope that this is somehow understandable

Copy vehicle class causes OFP crash !

Probably wrong model path. -
Add information box to custom weapon?
vektorboson replied to Wildebeest's topic in OFP : CONFIGS & SCRIPTING
Who is telling, it's impossible? Of course it's possible! All you have to do is to edit the equipment*.html-files in the dtaext.pbo. Just look into them to see how BIS did it. But there is one problem: You need to do a Mod-directory to have extra information for your weapons, so it doesn't work with addons PBOs. -
No, if someone doesn't know about the license, then normal copyright kicks in, which disallows redistribution without written permission from the author. So you have to read the license before you can redistribute any addon, if this is allowed at all. It seems that many people in this community forget that this is  a f**king game and not a business... Therefore I can only shake my head at such a behaviour. Perhaps I just should released my own traffic lights addon, that is now about 3 years old...

I have always a good laugh when kids try to act like "professionals". Perhaps you guys want to apply for the music industry?
-
You need Sigma's T72-pack for the T72s (otherwise CTD) and the civil cars are in PKSZMK.pbo, perhaps you haven't downloaded them?

If you release your Gaming OS under GPL, then M$ can't buy you off... I think Game Developers could indeed profit from an open source (not necessarily GPL) Gaming OS, since they could tune that OS for their Game if necessary (without restrictions). It's a shame that we are dominated by M$, there were quite some nice concepts on OS.

I won't accept anything that messes up my system. Those who try to restrict my freedom on my system won't get any money from me -> I'll rather program my own OFP 2 Â But BIS is nice enough to its community, so I think that they won't do anything that annoys the hardcore fans.

Using ODOLex to convert to MLOD
vektorboson replied to Baphomet's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
You're probably using an older version of OdolEx; the most recent released version does not have problems with selections and double vertices (at least I hadn't any problems). I know only of two problems: - smooth/sharp edges --> Â bad lighting - User Data for Faces/Vertices --> tank tracks are "shining" at night; tanks are not turning dark from damage Both are reasonly fixable with a small amount of work. Use the object selection tool and select a small part of the model; copy this part into an empty LOD and make sharp edges were the edges are sharp Do the same for the different tank parts: Copy the left tank track into a new LOD and change the User Data accordingly (I think it was 63 for left track). Do the same for the other parts (look into the Tank-Config for correct values for UserData). The same goes for Muzzles; change the UserData to 0, as OdolEx produces a 1 and therefore the muzzle doesn't shine. -
Another possibility is to use a custom ConfigMovesMC fpr HD units and change aimPrecision to a larger value, so they have the stronger wobble effect. This would eliminate the whole HD mags issue for players who don't want HD mags.

Errm, don't tell me, tell those who vote for the Linke / SED. You didn't read what I wrote about the Linke/SED in this thread, did you?
-
The Linke is the former SED which was the leading party in the GDR. Therefore their people still know a lot about East Germany, and about their worries. Many also remember that under the SED there was no unemployment, whereas now, there are unemployment rates up to 20% and beyond. As they don't feel represented by any of the "western" parties, they vote for the Linke. Many SPD voters voted for Linke because they don't feel represented by the SPD. They feel betrayed by its change of policy. But also, there still are many people in East Germany, especially in Berlin, who profitied from the SED and feel represented by them (take former STASI-people). This is not a second round, the parliament has been elected and it will constitute according to the result (we have to wait for Dresden). Only if the Chancellor proposed by the President won't be elected by the parliament, there maybe new elections, and they are the same "type" of elections, as you've seen now. A party can change its leader according to its "party law". If there is a full party meeting ("Parteitag"), they may change the party leader. But the party leader and the candidate for chancellor don't have to be the same person. The SPD's party leader is Muentefering, the Chancellor is Schroeder. CDU could indeed replace Merkel, I guess she won't stay in charge much longer.
-
When I remember correctly, then the ROC Mod's Taiwan map is a 51x51 map. It took me quite some while to fly across it with a F-16.
-
The greens didn't say that they are willing to join CDU, they just didn't say that they are not willing to join the CDU. (Instead the Liberals don't want to work with the Greens). But it seems that many greens already think about such a coalition, though many say, take Fischer for example, that they personally won't take part in it. Also they said they'd prefer Klaus Töpfer (CDU) as Chancellor, who works for the UN, and shares many green ideas; Merkel is rather not probable.
-
Mathematically yes, politically no. In that case the CDU/CSU-partnership would break away and there was the possibility that the CSU would candidate for whole germany, dividing the conservatives. That's a rather pointless argument. Everyone sees CDU/CSU as almost an unity, and nobody can imagine one without the other. I think we've got a pretty interesting scenario, where nobody has the upper hand. I suspect, that this could lead into new elections, as nobody seems to want to move towards the other (with exception of the Greens).
-
Interesting, all mentioned involvements are --heavily-- disputed. Disputed by whom? By themselves? They started their political careers in the SED, and the SED can change its name as often as they won't they are still the same old SED consisting of the same old people that led a repressive state against its own "people". I think that our discussion will lead to nowhere, as I have my personal objections against the former "communists" and I'll never accept their party as long as former GDR-politicians are in charge. When they died all away, then I'll change my mind towards them. Speaking of which, our political system needs a change of generation anyway (all parties). What I find interesting, is that all major candidates refuse a coalition with the other. FDP doesn't want with SPD or Greens, Schroeder doesn't want with the CDU... Only the Greens seem to be flexible. If this continues, we may vote in a few weeks once again...

It amazes me, how the criminals from yesterday are gaining again ground, whereas their victims live in poverty and terror. I've spoken with some, I've visited the former main STASI-prison. You don't need to bring up the NSDAP-people, as I don't like them too.
-
Tell me about former STASI-people. And what about Angela Merkels, back in the GDR she was a FDJ secretary for agitation and propaganda... Bisky, Gysi, Porsch... btw. we don't need to discuss about das Merkel, I'm not defending her.
