Thanks for that tipp; that actually got me on the right track! The East Germans used the RGD-5 as a rifle-grenade! This shop contains a manual for the RGD-5 rifle-grenade device: http://nva.4mg.com/shopbdin.htm The wikipedia-article contains a link to pictures of the rifle-grenade: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RGD-5 Thanks Chapman!

Please correct me if I'm wrong but if there are "communist parties", doesn't it logically mean that "communism" does consequently exist? No; communist parties want to 'reach' communism, which does not mean that they established communism, even if they were in power. Take for example Germany's Green party, which called itself pacifist: The Greens have lead the first war with Germany involved since WW2. Now, that's pacifism, isn't it? In most cases they thought that they can reach 'communism' by first establishing a 'socialist' society. Which you see in the name of the Soviet Union, which called itself socialist, not communist. In the German Democratic Republic (which was not democratic, although it called itself, right?) they called the system 'real existing socialism', no trace of communism. In the GDR, the party didn't even call itself a communist party, but socialist.

That's exactly the problem here. As a friend of mine always said: "If there is 'Cola' written on the bottle, then there is cola in the bottle." But most of the time it was Wodka/Red Bull There was no communism in the world, but there were/are communist parties, and they totally differ in their opinions how to reach 'Communism'. Just look at the Soviet-Sino-split. An university professor told us that there are about as many interpretations of Marx as there are Marxists. But: Marx' methods to analyze a society are still usable, though his political ideas are 'outdated'. And I have to defend Spokesperson, as he's right that it's about definitions. If you can't accept that people define words different to you, you'll have problems reading texts of Philosophs like for example Hegel. But hey, this is a Game forum, what do you expect?

I think Afro means the other way round: Is it possible to run FFUR without SLX Â If I remember correctly, this can be done in the SLX_GL3_Settings.sqf by removing the SLX_Path-variable.

@TFatseas, cjuraman Thanks for the reference pictures; if you find more pictures/references, post them please. Does anyone know or can anyone find out what/if Grenade Launchers the DDR infantry used? ex.: underslung Grenade Launchers like GP-25, Grenade Pistol like HK-69 I cannot find anything, so I assume, they used none... Regarding MBT-70 (or other Prototypes) Simply No. Regarding M60A2, Sheridan The released Sheridan was made by Vilas and it definitely needs a lot of work to modify it in such a way, that it fits my units. The M60A2s were being upgraded to A3 in that timeframe. Conclusion: They may fit the timeframe, but their low number does not justify my time and work. I'd rather make Engineering/recovery vehicles, as those would have been definitely used.

Basically, there is a simple interior modelled, and the rear door could be indeed animated. But I want to get finished with those addons, so this won't happen. In any case, the M113 will be 'open source', so if people want openable doors, they will be allowed to do so. No chance, unless you can prove me, that they would have been used in sufficient numbers by the US troops in Germany. If you know about the MBT-70, then you also know that it was scrapped and developed into the Abrams and Leopard 2. There is little sense in creating scrapped prototypes that don't even belong to my time frame. Don't dare to ask about a Marder 2!

IM:UC have a BMD-1 in 2 camo versions Are they an IM:UC exclusive model or are they based on the BMDs from FDF or Bloody Days Mod? Anyway, I've got permission from FDF to use their BMDs (also SPG-9 and Malyutka). If you got pictures or reference that show Soviet soldiers in East Germany in the 1980s wearing tan uniforms I may do it. But for now, it'll be KLMK/KZS; I'll use RHS' VDV '85 soldiers, but I'm not sure whether the Soviet troops (specifically the 8th Guard Army) had the flak vests. I personally would do them without flak vests, just like in Vilas' addons-thread in the ArmA-forum. Anyway: Any reference material is appreciated. As for FFUR '85 users, I'm trying my best to get the US MERDC/OD units done ASAP, here's a nearly finished M113A2 (some minor details and the back need work).

Goddamnit! I shouldn't have searched Google-Image for "Liebesei" But to answer your question: No, I don't have contact with that Mod (which seems pretty dead). And I won't make any Trabis for now, since I've got a big list already. @Universal I'll put it on; but don't expect the Chaparral to be fully detailed (unless someone else wants to improve the Chaparral).
-
It won't be as dirty as the Abrams, since the Chaparral doesn't need to be on the move like a MBT. Basically, you park a Chaparral along with a Vulcan around your field base and they stay there, with little chance getting very dirty. See first post The GDR-units will be east; but I may possibly do some 'traitor-units' that change sides during the war. Most officers of the NVA were SED-party members (thus indoctrinated), so the amount of traitors wouldn't have been too high.

Well, there is no russian side, only Soviet Although it fits with BIS' theme, the US are using equipment that they probably wouldn't have had in 1985 on the 'Malden Islands'. Vice versa the Soviets; their best equipment was introduced first in East German Soviet Troops (especially the 8th Guard Army). So the equipment fits rather with a Germany scenario (after '85) than Malden/Everon/Kolgujev. But anyway, you'll get an IPM1 and M1A0, which should spice the things a bit up (105mm cannon).

Any nice woodland maps like...
vektorboson replied to -ZG-BUZZARD's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
You should also try the island "Pilis". That island is shaped after a real place in Hungary and has lots of wooden areas, and doesn't need any addons. It's really nice for tank battles with high view distance. Unfortunately, there is no download available, tha I know of, since ofpc.de went down. Also, don't forget Leusderheide: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=7077 Though, it represents a training ground, not a civilian area. -
I actually think, this would turn into modern day Potemkin village. @Buzzard There is already something like this; although the image is projected onto the glasses instead of working like a LCD.
-
I suggest you download Eliteness from here: http://andrew.nf/ofp/tools/ It's the (non-official) tool with the best PBO-support.
-
Exactly, it's the Chaparall on a M548. He joined the Project '85-Mod, so you'll see something quite similar. Â
-
You should use a different UnPBO program, since the config is messed up. The first part, just before CfgVehicles, is a ASCII dump of a part of a P3D (#EndOfFile# is a Tag in a P3D). So, just use another PBO-program to extract the config, and to repack the PBO.

Yes; you'll get even more:

Hello, I would like to know the following: I've seen a red/orange (or red/yellow) sign on many US vehicles, like on this image: So, what does this sign mean? My guess is, that it's the sign for the US troops in Germany, but I may be wrong. Anybody knows since when this sign is in use? Is there some comprehensive site that explains US markings (especially 80s troops in Germany) ? Thanks in advance!

Hello guys, FFUR right now uses vehicles in NATO 3-color camo, which was not in widespread use in 1985. They should use MERDC or OD, which fit that era better. Here are some WIP-shots of the Abrams in MERDC. It's a modified BIS Abrams, as I'm too lazy to model it from scratch. Also some parts are missing, textures aren't finished, etc. Winter MERDC (don't confuse with Winter/Snow MERDC!: Summer MERDC: Right now those are M1A1s, but I'll make them into the IPM1 and M1 'A0', which have a 105mm gun instead of the 120mm. Also, I'd guess that FFUR should rather use the Summer MERDC, as this is the same scheme as on BIS' M60.

My comments: - FFUR '85 runs stable (I had no crashes so far) in contrast to vanilla SLX; thunderbird, did you change something in SLX-scripts to prevent CTDs? - M60A2 should be renamed to M60A1 or M60A3; the M60A2 fired missiles and wasn't fielded widely - the Apaches do attack ground vehicles, if they have their engines on - for the Cobra it says Hellfire, although it should fire TOW. Good job, I very much like it!

ATTN: Addon Makers - Rules of content permissions.
vektorboson replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Every art is copyrighted and you need permission to use it (unless of course, the local laws say otherwise). The best thing is, when that 'addon' has a License.txt (for example Creative Commons) where it clearly states what one is allowed to do and what not. Even better if the Readme has a short summary of the license. -
Where's the beer vulcan? I want my noodle-damn beer vulcan!
-
Indeed. Wikipedia is so reliable that I, who has sod all knowledge on the subject have updated the article to show that the aircraft can carry the well known Flying Pig missile. If you like to make jokes, then please use the uncyclopedia which is better suited for fun articles. It would have been better if you had deleted the Maverick from the list of weapons, if you already took the time to edit that article.

Yes, that photo shows exactly what I meant; in your screenshot the same part looks like it's completely black. Perhaps you have already changed it to look like this photo. Still, perhaps anyone knows what/if any grenade launcher was used by the GDR? For comparison
-
Vilas, regarding the screenshot of the NVA-MPi; I think that you need to change the handguard. Most of the pictures I've seen have a plastic brown upper part and a wooden lower part (but wood texture is almost invisible). Do you also know, whether the NVA used any underslung grenade launchers like GP-25 or Pallad? I couldn't find in my research anything about grenade launchers (except RPG7); perhaps you have good references for NVA infantry weapons.
