I *just* reinstalled Flashpoint (UK version), applied 1.20, 1.30 and then 1.46 patches. I go to join a server and it immediately reports that I have a modified config file! WTF!? I have not reinstalled any addons, any 3rd party maps, all I have on my box are the basics of OFP and yet I still get the modified config message, making people think I am cheating. Maybe there is something with how I configure my controls that lead to this message, I dunno. How can I remove this error when I start, so some server admins don't think I'm cheating and try to kick/ban me? vash

Mister Frag made a multiplayer Battlefields a long time ago and I tried using it on the dedicated server (1.40 and 1.42) to no avail. With the release of 1.45, this mission now works with the dedicated server! Woohoo! If anyone wants to play, its running at: 64.30.213.95 Small, humble, DSL line, but with 384up and 6 players limited. Should be some good fragging. vash

With the 1.42 dedicated server, it is never able to obtain port 2234 to start the dedicated. It will consistantly fail, so the server really never gets started. I have placed back the older version of the dedicated (1.41) and it works fine. Anyone else seen this? vash

With the Celeron being at 400Mhz, its not going to be worth it to run it as the dedicated machine. The current flashpoint dedicated server is a massive resource hog and will definitely make any mission on the Celeron 400 unplayable. I went from a 550Mhz P3, to an Athlon 700 and finally an Athlon 1.0Ghz and th e performance increase with each cpu jump was quite noticeable. With that in mind, some maps still bring the 1.0ghz system to 9fps. In the documentation, BIS recommends that anything less than 15 isn't really playable, I'd have to say anything less than 20-25fps isn't going to keep your clients happy. Looking at your existing setup, keep your faster PC as the client/server -- it looks like its your only real solution. vash

Well, that would explain it. This sounds like a really bad idea to me: voting a person to be the admin. Is there a way to disable the ability to vote? I see the voting threshold, if I take it out, will the ability to vote be disabled? Could there be a way to at least log the # commands? The logging feature would be so good, especially with the previous 1.40 crash. All I'd want is the logging of: 1. The IP address the person came in from. 2. Their unique id at the time. 3. All text typed into the console/chat window. 4. Time stamps would be nice. If I had that information, I wouldn't have had to start this thread. vash

I tend to keep my dedicated server running, just to see what kind of traffic gets generated. On my server, I have a heavily modified config file that has password changes and a different map rotation than the default. Yesterday, I look at my server and see that a few maps have been loaded that aren't in my config file (as it sits now, there is only one map in the config file). The missions do exist on the server, but they aren't listed in my .cfg file. So, I ask, is there a hack for the admin password? I have changed the password again (done this three times since it has happened as often) and probably will do it more often. If someone had my admin password, they can change the maps, but the only person who has it is me and my brother (he doesn't even know how to enter the password or change the mission). Or, is this "normal"? I don't know how someone could change the mission, without having the password, but is there a method? I figure if the missions aren't layed out in the config file, no one should be able to go any other mission without having the admin password and changing it manually. Also, is there a way to get more logging from the clients? If I could read a log file of everything the client types in a chat window/line, then I would have at least some level of knowing what someone did to change the map. As it sits now, I don't see any file that has the information of what has gone on. Any information would greatly be appreciated. vash

Unfortunately, most of the maps that I get come from a co-worker and I have no idea where they come from. So, I tend to stick with the default set in there and they generally work well. With the latest revision of the dedicated server, things work pretty well, but a modified version of Battlefields still doesn't work in MP. I know the author who modded it, maybe he can make some more tweaks on the map for me. vash

For dedicated server, I have seen major improvements when upgrading the CPU. Initially, I had P3-550 doing the serving and it was a bit slow when it came to heavy missions with infantry, AI, etc. When going to an Athlon 700, it was much more bareably, but still it wasn't happy with some missions. Lastly, I upgraded my dedicated server to an Athlon 1.0Ghz and its pretty happy with most missions I throw at it. My only complaint about the dedicated server is the problems I have when running some non-BIS missions. All of the BIS missions seem fine with the dedicated server, but playing some of the user created maps tend to have problems (AI scripting in particular). In the end, I only play OFP with multiplayer missions that are hosted on my server. It creates a totally lag free environment for playing, especially since my server is more than enough to handle it. Only if the dedicated has some more tweaks and improvements, I'd be a pretty happy camper. vash

I have my server up at 64.30.213.95, if anyone wants to join. The user limit is at 6 and I'm generally not around on the server (unless I see activity on my router). That's what I want to change with some good cusom maps. Co-op maps, with settings for up to 6 people on the same side would be great. vash

I doubt this works, buts its worth asking here. Can the OFP dedicated server host the single missions? I wasn't a big fan of the game itself, but I really do enjoy the single missions and multiplayer -- it would be nice to have a single machine able to host these missions versus running them locally. The only reason why I ask this is the single mission, Battlefield. Great mission (would totally love to have it as a multiplayer mission), but it hurts my brothers box a great deal -- making it impossible to play. If a dedicated server could host that missions (an adequate server of 700mhz+, 256 megs of ram+, etc), he could play it on his box. The dedicated server could surely host the AI, etc, making his client not have to deal with that extensive CPU overhead. Also, an extension of this server would be hosting a SP game that could be ran multiplayer. Its just a thought and would be really cool if it did exist. vash
