The flanking is one of the few things that is good with the Ai in this game. I'd never want to lose the flanking procedure, my problem with it is that instead of "i've fired some shots, maybe given my location away so may eventually encounter enemies on my flanks", it feels far more like "i've fired a shot, there WILL be an enemy on my flank". I think a lot of us here agree that we don't want the AI to be necessarily more or less "intelligent". We simply want the AI to have a more random, human element to it's actions - (as someone mentioned earlier, less pinpoint accuracy, good/bad marksmen etc) - to give the impression that we're not up against an all-seeing machine. Mine isn't a request for new IQ procedures but tweaks to the existing ones. (anyway, i've just upgraded to a 7900GTX, the games so much better i've got nothing to moan about anymore Arma )

Anyone else still waiting for the activation code for their international download version to be renewed? what a pain in the a$$. I emailed Metaboli yesterday morning and still waiting. Anyone know how long they usually take? -
Cheers Frederf, you're a gent, albeit a crooked one

+2 When u shoot from well hidden POS at an uaz with MG or Grenade launcher, after the fisrt shot the shooter immidiatly turns his gun at u and after that theres not much to do. (after 1.08 there must some wait time implemented, because they dot fire instantly at u, like in prevuis versions) +3 It doesn't matter how clever BI have been with the scripting, it feels very unfair. the AI have enough advantages IMO without pinpoint accuracy at 300m. An enemy soldier could creep up behind my left hand side, stand 10m away and fire at me and i'd still be clueless as to his location.Thru my stereo speakers all i'd know is that he was quite close and on my left hand side. i find the flanking procedure tiring aswell. Doesn't matter how well you choose your sniping position, you know after one shot that you're going to have to completely change location or spend the entire time watching your flanks. And on several occasions (twice last night on Blood Sweat & Tears) found myself being hunted down by a BMP2 which had decided to drop whatever it was doing on the battlefield because the commander overheard a bullet being fired 250m away on a hilltop I'm no expert, but surely that's not realistic..? I understand that, should BI address the problem of AI accuracy, the game would become easier - but this could be easily remedied with higher enemy numbers/lower friendlies/more AI options. Besides, the game could do with being a bit easier. I've had to restart so many missions which, statistically, look like they should be a fair fight but in reality have seen all ai controlled friendlies slaughtered within the first few minutes. Each to their own. Rant over

Blood, Sweat, and Tears not finishing? *Spoilers*

I just tried the last part of the mission with that Lambert guy to check. When it gets to the chopper cut scene the game throws up an error, but still goes through to the next stage: stuck in the hills with the pilot defending against incomine SLAs. So in your version do you circle the base in the chopper then get shot down, THEN meet up with the infantry squad? That sounds more like the other guys' route. try playing as the guy on the right, then playing as lambert. worth a go. Had a couple of goes but didn't actually complete it - the pilot is useless and you quickly wind up in forest warfare against about 7 or 8 guys. If you try and leg it the game warns you that you have 5 seconds to return to the battlefield!!! -
Hey Frederf, I've got the german download version so the manual's in german. Could you possibly forward me your pdf (if it's in english)? is that illegal? cheers b

That's pretty much the whole mission anyway. All that happens after the cut scene is that all US troops, including the player, suddenly appear next to the SLA base and the team leader gives the order to move to the building at 12 o clock (he says this repeatedly for about 15 seconds ). Once you've fathomed that he actually wants you to follow him into the hills, you have to kill about 6 SLA troops by the downed chopper and that's it, if i remember rightly. This last stage is a bit of a let down really. I quite enjoyed the earlier bits involving the town and the airport. Once again, all the bumbling computer controlled US troops died within the first 10mins so it was upto ol' muggins here to save the day solo again -

ok, 2 1/2 days later i've got an email plus new codes: "Hi, As requested we have sent you an email with your new serial number, which will give you three fresh attempts to activate the game. The limit on the number of activations is to prevent software piracy. Regards..." expect to hear me ranting again in 3 updgrades time... edit: btw i used the email they provide in their original contact with the codes etc. -

cheers guys no luck searching these forums have opted to email the generic support address at metaboli.co.uk to see if they can help. they may just be inundated at the moment... if anyone at BI reads this, is there a reason why i have to keep activating? is it avoidable? -

really? i've had to give my activation code for first install, first upgrade (can't remember what number that was), then for version 1.05 - so all used up! I can't get into the game without reactivating! -

Cannot complete Campaing mission called "Invasion"
the_bengine replied to Zorasht's topic in ARMA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
i'm currently having slightly different problems with this one after the installation of patch 1.05 (tho i don't know if the problem existed before or not). i found trundling round the airstrip shooting at anything that moved seemed to do the trick and completed that section on my first go. saved after everything was cleared then made my way down to the coast. thats where i had a couple of retrys after a few "miscalculations" . anyway, after i've destoyed all the bmps i wait for about 10mins and then get communiction from base saying they can't detect any enemies. so finally the air support arrives and the screen fades to black....and that's it. i 'm still playing but with a completely black screen. d'oh! put time onto x4 and left it for a while but nothing. guess i'll have to look up that way of forcing a mission to end. -
Ive got an error while installing patch 1.05

Sickboy's Language patch to change stuff to english causes that. Restore original files in Armed Assault foldrer or reinstall game. Cheers Jason0 That did indeed sort the problem out. -

another one here with "Error found in file Campaigns\ca.pbo (61d27c26!=6799732e)" during installation. Let's hope it's not too important...! -
Dolores (miss2) is very very broken
the_bengine replied to MrPing1000's topic in ARMA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
i remember doing this mission ages ago (v1.2) and i thought you HAD to lay the charges under the bridge. I also had to lay all of them in order for the next way point to appear and the commander to tell me to move off. Also, by placing them under the nearside of the bridge, the incoming vehicles don't see you. Strangely, the only problem i had, which was quite a severe one, was that everytime i tried to lay a charge, i picked up the last one i'd laid if i was within about 5 metres of it. and no matter where i was laying it, i'd always get a red cross - is this to "aim" the charge coz it looks more like a warning? half the time the charge wouldn't lay at all (which also happens in other missions) and sometimes i would pick up all the charges i'd previously laid making it a very haphazard affair. I'm suprised i'm the only one suffering from the problem actually... as for the "dropping all weapons when wet" it took me a while to get used to that and i'm not sure i ever will but one mission is rendered nigh on impossible when you have to collect munitions from a boat at the end of a pier and if you accidentally walk onto the boat (god forbid) you freeze and have to restart, and if you fall into the water, you lose everything and have to restart. Have eventually found a "sweet spot" on the pier whereby if you inch along to the corner, almost falling in the water, you can finally access the munitions. great. loving the game tho. looking forward to seeing a lot more brits on the server.... -
if anyone's vaguely interested, i'm running Arma with the following spec: P4 3.00GHz 2.5 GB ram Nvidia Quadro FX1400 The game's pretty sluggish. i pretty much have to run the game on low settings in order to make it playable - it just winds up looking like OFP with nicer shadows and grass!. I'd love to have a gaming card but the machine's mainly used for AutoCad and Maya 3d animation software. Is there a convenient way to swap between two gfx cards? i guess there's no point given that i've only one pci-e slot anyway. sniff
