PlayWithSix verified and updated my AiA, yet I fail to have the A3 reflectors working on A2/A2OA vehicles. Has anyone a screenshot of those successfully functional in A3? And sorry for a dumb question; did I asume wrongly that an update is just enough or do I need to move any files to oter folders manually to get this working? -

Ah yes, I see your point. Well, it's nothing we can't easily change, is it? Instead of relying on .pbo leftovers from previous builds we'll indeed rather wait for Bohemia to release the Police as official content and then adapt to whatever they'll come up wityh accordingly. Thanks for vigilance though ;) -

In fact the real-life logo of the Greek Police is completely different from this one (this one has two olive branches, Greeks have one).... :j: Well, at least this must have been the excuse BIS came up with, as it's A3 official (or rather semi-official, as it's included in the .pbos but not available in editor yet)... Cool idea with a nice backstory in the OP and I continue to read the news on this project with interest. However; Hmm... I'm completely not happy with this strange choice. Of course it's political fiction, but I'd rather have this based on some contemporary facts, being: as of 2004 we're part of the EU and a NATO member since 1997. Also contributor to the Eurocorps since 2003 and the framework country (OHQ/FHQ) for Battlegroup I-2010. There is also one major reason against the idea - a rather strong and long lasting anti-Russian sentiment among my countrymen that's grounded in a long history of military and political conflicts with Russia, spanning for hundreds of years all the way back to the Middle Ages. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poland%E2%80%93Russia_relations I still may be understanding 'influence' wrong here, but if this was not forced upon Poland (like 1945-1989), which in the NATO-absent Europe of 2035 was unable to resist and forced to bend under the Russian influence, I hardly think it's a realistic option. If you're open to suggestions and ideas / criticism; I thank you in advance for considering this. :) -

I'd ticket it right away :) Vilas' packs are already a fine base that could be a huge hit once given proper love and attention. I also found these. Thanks. If anyone would like to aid the project the best way to do so would be to contact Vilas and offer help in bringing his base addons to life in A3, with all the cute functions this new great game offers. He has produced an insane amount of assets and could not possibly take on a task as complex as this alone. Please head to the Addonmakers Friends group, he already asked for some help there back in July. Click;) In the meantime I'll continue to produce different stuff. Hi tpw; Words cannot describe how useful and game-enriching your work is. If I just may have a small suggestion regarding; I'd ideally have some animal exclusion zones implemented at some point as well. As great it is to have random animals spawning here and there it really is a showstopper when you have flocks of sheep on the runway preventing the AI pilots to taxi / take off ;)- 5759 replies

It sure is good. I have a stressful job and no chance to rest after hours with my two kids keeping me constantly occupied (and yelling, squeeking and shouting). Once everyone at home is asleep already I can put my headphones, head to Altis, sit on a top of the dome and contemplate the sounds of nature. This whole military side of the game just makes too much noise. And hell, even the civilian cars are loud.. 2035 and no electric cars? :P -

Well, I for one have a good deal of fun using ArmA III in this way. It would be a shame not to admire the detail put into the terrain or treat it just like a battlefield. Lots of fun with the Splendid Camera tool, trying to get macro-shots of bees, butterflies and snakes or just making some postcard-like vista shots on Altis. Tried myself in photographing the architecture too. Don't have a Boeing 747, but am using the Wings Of Peace addon-pack for some months now. The airfields just don't look right without any planes, so there's always some on the runway when I'm driving by. The old Sigma-6 freight ships are also a good addition. There's always some on the horizon. -
That would be me for example. I did compliment BIS on creating Altis (and the overall engine/lighting revamp), but am generally silent since the release, as... well, what's there to say? I did not have high expectations so it's not a case of disappointment here. I only expected A3 to be an overhauled platform for future mods to come and this is what I got. Also, I'm closer to 35 than 40 but also do agree on that patience part. Arma 3 will stay on my HD for the years to come, just as all previous BI titles are along with several other heavily moddable titles with still active/creative community (like Star Trek Bridge Commander). "I want it all and I want it now" is not a kind of attitude that's good with games like these.

I'm currently planning on making a retexture pack for Vilas police vehicles which would encompass creating a fictional Altian police paint scheme. I've been testing Vilas' civilian car addons using AiA for the last few days and it looks ok enough to be in ArmA3 (even strobes and sirens are working) with minor modifications only. I should start doing the work this weekend, so far I have made retextures of his Fire Brigade vehicles, started on ambulances and other stuff (like this bus): One should of course port the necessary assets properly (preferably the author himself), but until this is done it's a good walkaround and I should be able to get a permission to release a retexture pack for A2OA, which then could be used in A3 with AiA. The cars there are fairly new, contemporary models which with a bit of rust will do well in 2035, like this Ford Mondeo. -
You can always try to make one yourself, but the easiest way for now would be checking out the AiA (All in Arma) project. See here. It allows using BIS and community created content from previous ArmA games in A3. (yesterday it worked fine for me on the beta, not sure if it'll work with the full game released today, need to try it yourself). ----- eidt: too late

If you should consider it Emoglobinsy, I'd gladly second that request. Something sleek, chique and modern (or not so much anymore, by 2030's standards) would indeed be a welcomed and fitting addition to Altian landscape. Something like this; It's a most appealing architecture style that I like to take on occasionally in Sims3 :P -

I'm genuinely pleased and happy to see someone is taking care of this aspect. The new engine, lighting and environments in general are extremely appealing in visual terms. The most time I spend in the new A3 world is observing sunrises, diving or just being a passenger in a car traveling from one corner of the map to the opposite one. Yesterday I was using the inbuilt camera tool to photograph bees and butterflies. maybe it's not the most proper way to be playing a mil-sim per se... but one just can't resist the sheer beauty of the game. This world just screams for being filled with life and I'm happy to see some nice specimens on the horizon. Please do keep this up! Hi Soronelite, May be because of the development build of A3 I'm running or a recent patch, but I'm unable to use the PL units at all. The error message that keeps them from loading in the editor reads: Thanks for the hard work done so far, and in advance for a quickfix ;)

Vilas has already done and released a bunch of these for ArmA II. Maybe he'd be willing to donate, permit a rework for A3? -

Having been directed here by Illusion_cz (thx mate! I found some comfort here :)) I'll just repost and detail a bit my findings shared in an other Altis thread; Vista Home Basic 32-bit AMD Phenom II X4 955 Processor 3.2 GHz 4GB RAM ATI Radeon HD5670 1GB 190GB free space on A3 installation HDD running A3 at 1920x1080 problem - complete freeze, 0 to 1 FPS while trying to preview a mission on Altis. Editor works excellent, satmask textures loading instantly, map scroling and zooming in/out without problems. Loading times, decent (same as Stratis) Sound stutters, 1 second of audio loads after some 20 seconds of complete halt, no detailed LODs displaying (character and environment models simplified to what seems one of the frthest LODs, textures all blurry, parts of models missing) Disabling graphical options + lowering everything else to minimum + windowed mode does no change. 0 FPS At the same time able to play on Stratis with most of the settings pretty much maxxed out with a decent and stable framerate of 30-40 FPS (with bloom, occlusion, blur, FSAA and all the fance new stuff). Voted: YES (23 bit OS) ---------- Post added at 21:50 ---------- Previous post was at 21:38 ---------- Confirmed to be working! Enjoying some first impressions of Altis at 30FPS now ;))
