WIP: stuff you are working on!
telejunky replied to adumb's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Thank you for your attention No it hasn't got 6 sides, it is a kind of octagonal with small corners^^ http://www.antarcticstation.org/index.p....71#page there you can see those parallel lines. I think it would be good if i add thoses rocks with the wind generators. Unfortunately underground buidlings like alex.sworn's bunker is only possible in connection with island editing...First i only make the higher part. Maybe alexsworn will edit an island with reachable parts of the princess station under the ground  -

In first place i tested it just as a nice scenery object. But with the time being i will make the Interior as best as i can. There is a good video showing the wooden Interior I think it is possible to make all these rooms but it would be hard to have some scientific furniture http://www.antarcticstation.org/index.p....=1#page -

Nice map opteryx... next time use "backuphelp" alias savesure by alex.sworn. This tool can be started and it makes a backup if the data changes...by time you have to delete some old backups, but this gorgious tool will even work with simple .txt and every other document. Hope you are able to understand a little bit german. Maybe someone will translate it or write an english manual for everyone http://www.armabase.de/page....id=1885 -
So now the ball is on me: i already contacted gnat but i also want to show the community my new textures. Working normal and specular maps. Maybe i will make them to be some more used looking textures. Unfortunately the texture of the deck depends on the tower, so i tried the asphalt looking things known from frigates... but the radar etc would looks like a crumbled street... Haha no need I translated as best as I can... typos inclusive ------------------------------- Is there a basic change with the scripting commands oder language? Are there new features for the editor? Yes, besides a new bunch of scripting commands and simplifications (e.g. automatic completion) there will be some kind of database. There you can read for what this or these codes stand for and copy them if needed right to the editor. For many users it sounds very simple to put the VBS 2 3d editor into ArmA 2, but it is a different System, Marek told. There will be some kinde of 3D Editing but not in realtime like the Army is using. Snakeshit should know this better. How about beta testing? Will they launch a demo? Nope, it seems that there wont be any beta for public/ chosen people, only the team itself. But Marek said, that a demo will be aviable for public. He cannot answer if it will be released before the the actual game is released. We are still hoping to test the demo before we bet our money on the wrong horse. Did they improved the A.I.? E.g. handling convoys, taking cover. Compared to ArmA 1, the new AI with its “Micro-AI†the artificial soldiers are able to park unused vehicles besides the road. They can lean round the corner or use suppressive fire to frighten the enemy. Therefore the A.I. is on its way to be a charmant and fair enemy. This new “Micro-AI†is rather the brain on the near battleground, its causing some more natural and tactical events. What System is needed? How does a System running ArmA 1 smooth challenge ArmA 2? Basicly smooth is spread to different opinions. If you are a lucky guy and you owned a dual core cpu with some mainstream cards like (X1950Pro/2600XT/7800GTX/8600GT, equal wether DX 10 or 9), then you should be able to run ArmA 2 smooth with a resolution of 1280 width. I am not able to estimate other things. Necessary needed is a graphics card with shader model 3. There are people out there using a large scale monitor, but they only use mainstream cards – according to BIS you have no to be frightened. There will be a function implanted that will better upscale low resolutions. How is the engine using more than one cpu core? Sorry, but I cannot say it very specific. But I do know, that the performance drop form two to one core will be significant. Persons, who overclocked their old Pentium 4 to the orbital speed should have a chance , too. Generally, ArmA 2 could run even on older systems. Due to the cpu evolution, newer architectures are mostly based on two or more cores, so that odler cpus with only one core do not naturally have the performance which is needed. BIS wont hear the complaints of people getting 9-0 fps with their old Celeron… How are the civilians? Are the any kinds of rpg elements? Is the player able to change his abilities? There is something really new: with only a few code it is possible to activate the civilian- and wildlife. After that you can find people in villages of Chernaurus, which flew of conflict zones or they do have a daily cycle. They drive, talk to each other or go into their houses at evening. There is no possibilities to change your abilities. If you collect every Mission the campaign, the “story time†will be something around 2 weeks. So it would not fit to the story if your characters got more muscles etc…But they have different “load outs†for their specific jobs. How ist he new dialogue system? With this new feature you are able to get informationes by civilians where the enemy is supposed to be. It will be a kind of answer system you know from adventures. The dynamic campaign With the above mentioned communications menu you can also warn people. It is to you if you are strict to the plan and attack the tank in the village, where civilians are. But you can also warn the civilians or abort the mission. Marek told me, that your decision really makes a different ending to the further campaign. As you already know it: Every decision retight its consequences. The campaign is not an “On Going War†with its automatic generated mission as we were told in the past. Considering that BIS wants to tell a story with the protagonist of the razor team, it is not that very dynamic, but more interesting how the story of the conflict grows up. What about the equipment? Are we able to attach different moduls to our weapon? Nope, weapons are not build modular, so you are not able to attach anything like scopes or flashlights. But the animations of the weapons are awesome: every single mechanical part is animated! Wow! I think there will be a video soon best regards telejunky form armabase.de

Yeah, Game 2 is now called ArmA 2! read the official News here. By the way: we got a german translation and a comment by the author about mods, time of release compared to ArmA I and co. 2008 should be eaten carefully...we now the times ArmA I was delayed several times. The screens tell my head and let me feel that this game is going to be more OFP-like. I think it got the chance to catch the Player as OFP did in the old days The progress of the increased graphics of ArmA could do the same job at ArmA, too. We still know the days with shitty gras and stupid sounds...actually, these days are history! So stay tuned for further informations from the Games Convention 2007 in Leipzig, Germany. best regards, telejunky, Admin of ArmABASE.de Edit: I really dislike the way the bi forums are cutting too long urls of images....damn it! Watch the news at the official site or our article for mor pics... Edit 2: Thanks to all sites which are not refering to the original source: miller from armabase.de informed me about the news...It's disgusting reading news everywhere and the little guy alone was watching many sites for any update It is my and his sparetime looking for updates on those mod/official sites and there are other persons just reading it and they don't have any decency to honor this sometimes hard and nerving work...

hehe i've got a P4, too but it is natively clocked at 3.00 Ghz with HT. Besides that, i am running a X1950Pro 512Mb After upgrading my memory to 1,5 gb of ram arma runs much smoother. but i would like to exchange the two 256 ram bars to two 512. So there would be 4 times the same ram and i think arma would appreciate 2gb of main memory... Finallay, if you wont buy a new mainboard inlcuding new ram and cpu, try to upgrade it to 2gb of ram and get a new card like the hd 3780 or nvdidia's 9600gt...but don't expect everytime a high framerate, because the cpu is not a burner...

I'm using Logitech dual action, it is much easier to fly, or even to drive I like the PS Layout of the pad. The 2nd joystick gives you the ability to look around, if yu want

WIP: stuff you are working on!
telejunky replied to adumb's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
ah now i saw them ingame!thx! I built two models so the rotor could be animated...another fact is that mine got a diameter of 6.5m at the bottom and it is very huge. With one blade standing to the top it is ~150m high the tower alone is something about 107m above the ground...Next point is that this is intended to be more realistic, compare the blades and you will see So all in all this would be a different type of windturbines, maybe ideal for offshore windturbines. -

Hi I#m still working on my dieselswitcher for Alex.Sworn's railroad. Knowing that i am using SolidEdge i have to convert with Rhinoceros the .iges into .3ds files but I'm unable to open with the O²...but first, I want accomplish it with different LODs Now, the highpoly model is 30-40% done. There only was a limitation of the filesize not the resolution,or? -

Modelling with solidworks?
telejunky replied to tylerdurden's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Im using SolidEdge with academic licence...I try to model a locomotive für some > railways <, Alex.Sworn is working on. At this time the loc is only a grey box, so i want to help him. He is using SolidWorks on his own and he saves the files as a wireframe model and it works look at his own La Samula. -
Dsf's unofficial stargate simulator
telejunky replied to Dingmatt's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I quite like these addons but first thing i want to tell you is the tact, that the gate isn't translucent. 2nd thing, could you rename it? there was a site called ofpc.de which reported about stargate addons but mgm send their advocates and the site had to pay much money. we (armabase.de) call your awesome stuff StarG***, because we won't make the same 'fault'. Be creative...maybe Gatewars,... Sha'apa'i or wormhole extreme-mod^^ regards telejunky -

Yeah lets try to collect the information we have and compare it with the situation: two teams programming two games Armed Assault and a next generation game called 'game 2' There is an addon going to be released Q3, we know this is Queens Gambit. There was no other team working on other things...and why the hell the should only sell ArmA II as ArmA HQ with more buildings, more vehicles...so there will be many improvements on the graphics and the gameplay over the next year... So hold on, until we see some movies from the GC showing some ingame footage and then, we are could carefully guess how does it feel and if it is going to some real successor edit: 'next generation' and 'latest' are equivocal for BIS

"Arma 2 is based on the latest generation technology, offering large –scale game world, authentic and extremely detailed modern units, weapons, vehicles and enviroments, challenging single player and vast array of multiplayer options." As far as i know, Game 2 should be a next generation game and so i would gues it is ArmA II...
