Once again, thanks for the kind words. English has been chosen as main language because it was impossible to translate the amount of modifications in other languages properly. Requesting community's support might have consequently delayed the release. In my judement, the current faces look decent so far, even if they are outdated. Regarding models, they are the best of what the community provides. As stated in the previous page, there should be no problem in terms of CTDs since the MOD has been fully tested. Make sure you properly installed the pack and check out that: 1 - You are running the MOD with a clean installation of OFP 1.96 2 - Make sure your system respects the following requirements: - Windows XP / 2.0 GHz Pentium 4 or Athlon XP / 1024 MB RAM / 1GB Hard Disk Space (per pack) / At least a Fifth Generation Graphic Card (eg. GeForce 5 Series or Radeon 9 series) 3 - Clean your registry (With ccleaner or any other tool intended for this purpose). 4 - Defrag your system. -Unpbo Slx_gl3 located within @ffur85\addons\ folder and do the same for the same file of (vanilla SLX) MOD. -Replace FFUR '85 GroupLink3 script by SLX one and PBO SLX_GL3 folder. - Why not for ArmA or ArmA II? ;]

Thanks for the comments and feedbacks, copied all reports to a .txt file in order to enhance these aspects with a patch, that would hopefully, include some new unexpected Models as well ;] (Thanks to vektorboson). Thank you for the mirror, will be added to the first page ASAP. Regards, TB

Thanks all for the nice words. I played the entire "Red Hammer" campaign without experiencing any crash at all, the same goes to the "Beta testers" who tested the pack, since nobody experienced any kind of CTD. I partially conclude that this is due to your system, therefore, please check out that: 1 - You are running the MOD with a clean installation of OFP 1.96 2 - Make sure your system respects the following requirements: - Windows XP / 2.0 GHz Pentium 4 or Athlon XP / 1024 MB RAM / 1GB Hard Disk Space (per pack) / At least a Fifth Generation Graphic Card (eg. GeForce 5 Series or Radeon 9 series) 3 - Clean your registry (With ccleaner or any other tool intended for this purpose). 4 - Defrag your system. Having a huge amount of troops concentrated in 1 specific area might break several BIS missions, that's why reinforcements have been made random. Negative. Otherwise, thanks for reporting the 2 little bugs regarding the Apache not attacking ground troops and RPK-74 using 1 firing mode. Regards, TB

Here's a little streaming Movie showing a firefight between US and Soviet forces, the purpose of the video is to show the implementation of new "crack" SFX (a la FROMZ 1.4 for ArmA) that aim at making combat more immersive and close to real life firefights. Retextured BIS/InQ AH-1F to a woodland scheme as well. <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">Is there a reason why the links to 2.5 on the FFUR website are all dead? Thank you for reporting it, I will fix'em asap. Regards, TB

Hi, In my judgement, Hueys would better fit as Model additions and not as replacements instead of Blackhawks. Thanks for the suggestions but you have to understand that during the development of the pack, time wasn't in my side to let me focus on such little details that almost nobody notices. Thank you for the great contribution, and we finally have some decent female voices. ;] They are great indeed, but I hope I would find time to carry out new US textures. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and great contribution. Regards, TB

Modern Combat Mod - SLX Released
Thunderbird replied to Big-Rooney's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I feel this statement slightly unfounded and grossly inappropriate since Big-Rooney's core pack is close to FFUR's, not only in terms of Model Replacements, but in terms of inspiration, scripts... etc. Moreover we help and support each others in order to get farther. Of course, there are more "extra" models within MCM's pack, and that's for sure a big plus. But with no hypocrisy, I feel no competition or antagonism between both mods at all. Regards, TB -
I uploaded the fixed version, get it Here. All credits go to Fromz, though, I only fixed the little issue. Regards, TB

This pack is very close to what I heared in real life so far since the 'mettalic aspect' of firearms SFX is quite well reproduced, loud and vivid. In real life, you don't perceive the echo in the same way depending on whether you are close to the weapon or not. If you are the shooter, the echo sounds really tiny compared to whether you are watching "a shooting sequence" from a specific angle and a certain distance. Regards, TB

Reinstalled ArmA to give a try to this new SFX pack and encountred the same error, to fix it: - Unpbo frommz_ffamm.pbo - Take out the following file $PREFIX$ - Unbin the config and take out the following lines located in the bottom of the cfg file: <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> class RscStandardDisplay {}; class RscPicture {}; class RscDisplayMain : RscStandardDisplay { class controls { class Background : RscPicture { x = 0; y = 0; w = 1; h = 1; text = "\fromz_sounds\c\ffamm_splash.paa"; colorText[] = {1, 1, 1, 1}; }; }; }; - Then Unpbo fromz_sounds and delete $PREFIX$ - Pbo both folders and put'em into your MOD folder or Fromz one and everything will work properly. Regards, TB

Sorry, I can't provide an accurate list of the songs used within the previous FFUR packs, but most of them belong to 'Hanz Zimmer'. INQ AK-47 would be used instead of BIS Kalashnikov Model, since even being old, it looks very good and fits very well with the rest of used models. By the way, Happy New Year, even though it’s kind of late. ;] Regards, TB

(New Version different from the one released on ofp.info)By Kenwort M1A1 and M60. As previously stated, this will be checked out as soon as the work starts again on the '2007 version'. Link please? Regarding the rest of your suggestions, they will be taken into consideration as soon as the work starts again on the patch for the '07 version'. Slx_Gl3\Radio\ folder. Thanks for the nice comments. regards, TB

Hi, The pack is completely finished, but once again, I would great appreciate the community's support in order to Beta-Test it, since this is the best way to make sure that the MOD is bug free even if I spent a hell of time for this purpose. Just drop me a pm or a mail. No textures have been taken out, and the chosen models are not only realistic, but they look good so far, in terms of textures as well as in terms of models. Black-Ops should not be heavily equipped due to the nature of their missions, moreover, with a gasmask you can't properly aim and you suffer like hell from sweating. The ambient SFX have been replaced by more immersive ones. There are already 3 new kind of 'wound animations'. This would indeed increase the atmosphere level but having no SFX source to get this done, I simply can't carry it out at the moment. I sincerely appreciate your advices but the lack of time doesn't help to enhance these things even if they sound minor, but which are in fact quite important, since it's little realism details like that that make a more 'enjoyable' MOD. Thank you for this link, I will upload it again to 'FFUR servers'. This is possible so far, all you have to do is to follow the instructions about 'replacing cartridge models' within a few pages back, but instead of the old models; put ECP ones. (by including ECP model=... instead of FFUR model line.) The 2 heavy machine-guns will get '85 new ironsights as soon as I start working on a FFUR '07 Patch. Unfortunately, the MOD is completely based on 'SP' scripts but I have managed to get it working 'online' a couple of months ago, maybe retry again with the incoming pack. I'm sure you would not encounter these difficulties if you grab a download manager. ;] I will include a .rar version for people who don't like installers. The size of the incoming pack would be around [500 MB]. Reload the mission again but restart it instead of loading it from a spefic point, since this error is probably caused by the fact that you haven't used the MOD when you played it the first time. If you want to make sure that the error isn't due to the MOD then simply play as 'Russian Machine-Gunner' in the mission editor, you will notice that there is a PK with no bugs around. This is due to a matter of time since I can't include all of what the community offers as models, but feel free to play with any 'extra' vehicles you wish. The M4 is actually the most commonly used rifle by the US Army. The M4 doesn't have the full-auto mode unlike the A1 version. Well seen, indeed, this game was very inspiring in terms of design ideas. If you have a better version of the M1A1 than the current one, which is the best one carried out thus far, then feel free to release it, I would greatly include it. I will carefully check this out when I start working on a patch for the '07 pack. Thank you all for the nice words and great support. Regards, TB

Here are 2 'streaming videos' showing some of the features that will be included within the incoming pack: Ability to establish an MG Position *As machinegunner, you would be able to build it up only if you have a shovel, otherwise you can't. New Wound Animations *They replace those provided by SLX 'vanilla' ------------------------------------------------------- Sure, feel free to use whatever you want. Thank you for the information, this will be fixed as soon as the website is updated. Open the config.cpp of the MOD where you would like to include this 'view'. Find: class man:land or class man : land or even class man: land or class man :land Since there might be a 'space'. Slightly scroll down 'til you find: extCameraPosition[]=... with some 'values'. Replace them by {0.25,-0.1,-1.4}; And now you can use it. The framerate hit caused by the MOD's scripts will be decreased by half (compared to the last FFUR release that was already quite stable) since the effects/features have been randomized to ~2. Thanks for the nice comments. The release is very close, meanwhile, a little movie done by the skilled videomaker 'Kenwort' showing the incoming pack's content is just round the corner. regards, TB

Basically, you don't have to make 2 versions since you can directly carry that out via a main 'Stringtable' file containing all wanted languages. Therefore, you would save 500 MB. regards, TB

Civil md-500e helicopter!
Thunderbird replied to hotshotmike1001's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Once again, I think that the guy is free to do what he wants as long as he doesn't cause trouble to anyone. I admit that his addons are far from being realistic and do seriously lack of 'Deepness and Accuracy', not only in terms of realism but in terms of 'Technical Work' but if some people don't find'em that 'bad', then why wouldn't he be free to keep on the way he is. Regards, TB -
And here comes some ironsights I have done for certain weapons of the incoming pack. M60 M3A1 Grease Gun M2HB DSHK Regards, TB
-
As promised, here are some screenshots of the incoming pack.
-
All of this is going nowhere... I agree that Mike's addons aren't done from scratch and are far from being realistic but this way of working should not be condemned since some people seem to appreciate his packs, even if the firearms models are mostly unrealistic. regards, TB

This seems to me to be more a matter of individual attitude slightly affected by the local mentality than a specific issue regarding a particular place of the world. Regards, TB

Hi everyone, The progress goes as planned, a huge amount of efforts and energy is invested in attempting to make the incoming FFUR '85 (2008 Edition) quite unique compared to all the previous FFUR packs, since the most focus is put on keeping alive OFP's original feeling but with the implementation of new key features (Models/ SFX/ Config-Scripts/ Models Additions/ Ironsights/ Materials/ Animations). -Models : High-Quality Community Made Addons -SFX : Chammy's amazing and realistic SFX -Config-Scripts: SLX/FFUR scripts and FFUR configuration -Ironsights: FFUR Ironsights. -Animations: Sanctuary's Last Animation Pack. More information to be released soon, stay tuned and thank you for your patience. Find class FxCartridge and change the timetolive to a higher value than the current one. Certain cartridge models tend to bounce, this is due to its weight and you have the choice between 2 ways to fix this issue: - Increase the cartridge's weight in O2 - Use BIS default cartridge model (model="nabojnice";) Regards, TB

The mod is completely based on SLX 1.1 and that involves the use of several seperate config files and not 1 config as it was the case previously, therefore it makes things complicated. Plus, the lack of time doesn't help at all. This is due to a conjonction of 2 properties: - OFP's engine limitations. - SLX scripts that make enemies rush at your position once you are spotted. It should not bother you as long as you trigger Satchel charges once you are far away. Negative, as you can see here. The ratio (Bullets/Probability to hit) has be decreased indeed, but this has already been reported more than once. There would be no such problem within the incoming '85 Edition which would be in a major part based on a tweaked version of SLX 1.1 and not on any previous FFUR config. There is no common tracers, when you look closely at them, you notice that they are far from being similar, even with same calibers as I noticed myself during my classes, since mine were way too small compared to those of my teammates (Wind's factor? quantity of phosphorus?). If you dislike the current tracers, feel free to edit the models yourself, it should be easy, really. ;] There are no major complaints thus far, most of people seem to be happy with them and since it is a matter of taste, just replace the sounds yourself by moving those you want to 'ffur_sounds' folder by properly renaming'em, simple like that! Regarding the incoming pack, the SFX have been 'standarized' and 'commonized'. Works so far nice here, the RPG's blast took out a whole squad I posted on desert island's little hill. It's like 'bowling', it depends on your hit point regarding the enemy. Yes, ArmA is more stable than OFP and handles better huge amount of units but if you clean your computer and slightly decrease your graphical settings you would get so far a decent gameplay. Make sure you're running no program in the background as well. regards, TB
-
If servers were able to properly handle SLX 1.1 then there should be no problem with the incoming FFUR pack. ;] Regards, TB
-
The incoming '85 pack will feature SLX but several tweaks and changes will be done in order to avoid issues that occur in game. ;] Yes. Yes. Mr Burns islands are the islands that were included in the MOD 2 years ago, but they are separate files now to allow you to have the choice to play the mod with the original islands or not. Sorry, not at the moment since all the focus is on the '85 pack that should be ready for Christmas. ;] Regards, TB

Indeed, Scotland was close to win, they deserve respect for their courage in a group, where they weren't the favorite. Great to see France qualified, even if it wasn't easy due to scotland's determination. Too bad for England, though. Sounds like they suffered a lot. regards, TB
