When using the lowplant-version, my FPS drops with around 12-15. Wasn't the lowplants supposed to make rendering the game quicker? My hardware is A64 X2 3800+, 1 GB DDR2, 8800GT and ArmA v.1.14.

How can I possibly choose weapon/gear in campaign?
skjalg posted a topic in ARMA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Hello there. Im now playing the single player campaign again for the second time in Veteran-mode. However, what I find utterly frustrating is that in pretty much every mission I am simply handed the M4 with laserpoint. The game is full of weapons. Howcome I don't get to evaluate the mission and choose my gear accordingly? I mean, the M4 was great the first times I played the campaign. But now Im getting really bored and tired with this weapon. Is there any mods or cheats that I can use to gain accsess to more gear? I've googled for a cupple of hours for a campaign mod that would let me choose my gear, but no sigar. Any input would be appreciated. -
Vista Troubleshooting Thread: The one and only
skjalg replied to sickboy's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Thank you for your reply. But I tried to install it on a another drive where Vista are not installed. My Vista partition has almost 100 GB free HDD space, and the drive where I attempted to install ArmA had 33 GB of free space. I have disabled amoung other things System Restore, etc. before hand. I have installed ArmA before in Windows XP Pro, and ArmA doesn't even come close to 5 GB in size when installed, so why it wants more than 33 GB of space for the same install but with another operating system, I don't know. However, after a little creative hacking of the installer I was abel to force it to install, and ArmA works now. -

Im trying to install ArmA with Vista 64-bit, but the installer tells me that 33 GB of free harddrive space isn't enough to install. Any suggestions? -
I've had simular problems with the AI. For instance, most of the time when I tell my AIs in Repair Trucks to drive somewhere far away, they refuse to use the road. Instead they try to go through dense forests, steep mountains, deep river channels, etc. which causes them either to get stuck or use ~30 min on a drive that a human would use 4-5 min. But I believe this is a problem with the AI code in ArmA, and not something KilJoy can fix.

How do we properly report bugs? Here in this thread? Some issues I've found: * Bots/AI squad-members that are dropped does no longer die. This becomes problematic when a AI player is e.g. in the driver position of a vehicle, and is under the command of nobody (or atleast no human player) to tell him to disembark. Only way to free up such slots in vehicles that are taken by dropped (yet alive) AI squadmates is to destroy the vehicle with an AT4 (so that it explodes) and repair it by building a FARP. Cons: All AI team-members will kill you for killing AI team-members. Besides, dropped yet alive AI squad-members will accumulate/pile up quickly which I assume won't contribute to reducing lag and bandwidth use. If Im not mistaken, all these idling AI players requre some CPU-cycles, but which computer (server or clients) that has to suffer from this, I dont know. * The firery mushroom-cloud/pillar from the nuke (support menu) seems to be stuck at the same 'frame' for 2-3 minuttes instead of starting very bright/firery to become more of a dust and smoke pillar. As it is now it looks like there is a continous burning mega-bon-fire instead of a nuclear mushroom-cloud. * While at a FARP or base, Stryker M2 will only reload the current magazine, and never restore the other 5 magazines (ammo shows as 100 | 5). Ultimatly this means that when all magazines are depleted, you can only carry a maximum of 100 rounds (1 magazine) between each reload at FARP/base. Workaround: Destroy the Stryker M2 with AT4 (so that it explodes) and repair it by building a FARP. * AH-1Z do reload all weapons at FARPs/base, but do however quickly reset the ammo count back to pre-FARP/base-reload status. This means reloading ammo is impossible, making the AH-1Z a one-time-use feature, unless you perform the same workaround as with the Stryker M2. Besides this "problems", I must say Evolution has really become a challange now, which is good. This is by far the best version of Evolution yet seen, in my opinion.

Try not getting injured instead so that you can walk upstairs. I save alot so when I get injured like that I can always load a 'healty' savegame. About that building, there are two bodies upstrairs, and two at the groundlevel. Also, there are some barrels that you have to take samples of the content. Only 'problem' I had was when trying to crawl pass the guard to the left of that hole in the fence. Instead I tried shooting him, but most of the guards in the camp was notified of this, and my whereabout, without the alarm going off.

A few things I have noticed (and some could possibly be general ArmA bugs but I'll list them all here anyways): * Code for captain makes you major * Code for major makes you colonel * If an enemy POW is ordered to enter a vehicle the player can't enter it unless you disembark the POW and order him to enter after you've entered a vehicle. * Stryker ICV M2 does only rearm current ammo clips, meaning once you emptied all the ammo, it will only rearm a maximum of 100 rounds (100 rounds + 0 clips). Default is 100 rounds + 5 clips. * POWs will often disobey orders and instead stand still and cycle the 'hands behind head'-animation over and over. * Ordering a POW to enter the shuttle sometimes makes the shuttle take off at once the order has been given and hover at 1 meter infinitely without returning to base. Other things: * Engineer class and FARPs would be nice. * More squad mates. * If you enter the shuttle at base (without requesting it) you could make it transport you to a location pointed by e.g. clicking somewhere on the map, and it will return by itself to base after you've disembarked. Is it possible to edit the AI code? Im having trouble with the AI not sticking to the road while driving e.g. support trucks, so that they get stuck, flip the trucks in tough terrain, etc, and it takes forever for them to drive anywhere if they manage to reach their destination without destroying the truck or getting stuck. I also tried changing their behaviour to 'safe' without effect. Since I now am dependant on the AI to drive trucks around the game has become more of a waiting-for-the-trucks-game
