  1. What you download is an executable, so put it anywhere and run it. It will create an additional folder "beta" in your arrowhead installation, and a new lauhcer which you will have to use to lauch this beta (old laucher for playing with normal 1.57 will still be available). You can read more information here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=90317. The downloaded zip contains a readme.txt as well. The beta is nothing but the latest build (1.57 + further fixes) of the game released by BIS so we can test the fixes and changes. In the end, all those fixes will become the next stable patch.
  2. Maybe you should try the latest beta patch (http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php). Some crashes have supposedly been fixed in the latest versions, so you may be lucky (and if not, I am sure Dwarden will be pleased to receive your crash reports)
  3. I adjust the color saturation in the CCC for playing Arma2. Can't remember right now where exactly this setting is at, will edit this post when I get home. The default value is 100, with a range from 0 to 200. The appropriate values for me are 140-150. EDIT: Digital Panel (DVI) -> Color -> Saturation
  4. Does anyone know any of the latest 6900 series reviews include a benchmark of Arma2?

    Just Bought A 6870

Still, AMD has the option of releasing a dual cayman early next year. Nvidia might have trouble with a similar approach, due to power constrictions. Anyway, does not the 5970 still beat the 580? We are probably going a little bit OT here...

    Just Bought A 6870

Many different "benchmarks" being released these days. Better wait for official reviews to get a clear idea (also in pricing).
  7. Some people seem to have got rid of that problem by defragging their hard drives. You could try that if you have not done yet.

    Just Bought A 6870

Don't forget to tell us how good it runs for you Infiltrator. I plan to upgrade my card soon, and the 6870 has big chances (I will probably wait a little more to see if prices drop).
  9. Yes, ATI Catalyst allows it too. I usually play with a saturation value of 150, it looks a lot better to me.
  10. We will probably get a fairly precise release date when the official website is completed
  11. I don't really care as long as they make a great game :)

    Nvidia GTX580 benchmark ArmaII

Might kill it in perf/price ratio... who knows

    Nvidia GTX580 benchmark ArmaII

Well, I rather wait until it is out to draw any conclusions (at least wait until I see some reliable benchmarks).

    Nvidia GTX580 benchmark ArmaII

Could you point to any benchmark?? haven't seen any of the 6970 yet...
  15. Yeah! finally some updates are coming!!!
  16. Hello, I found that toggle zoom in is not working if you are holding any scoped weapon. I don't mean with the optics enabled, I mean in normal view. You can zoom in by pressing and holding the button assigned to zoom in, but toggle zoom in does not work (it does work with non-scoped weapons, like holo or red dot, or pistols). Is this intentional? Regards. edit: this happens both in Arma2 1.07 and OA Demo, no idea about OA 1.54 though...

    Head movement lag

Hi dito, Yesterday I was playing the OA demo and specifically tried the head movement in search of mouse lag. Yes, I do have some mouse lag when moving my head opposed to aiming the gun. In my case, it's slightly noticeable (about 0.2 seconds just by guessing), plus it takes some time for the head to stop moving after you stop the mouse. To be honest, this reminds me a lot to how the gun aimed before they fixed it by adding mouse sensitivity and frames ahead. It seems to me that this fix affected the gun movement, but that they left the head movement out. I guess this can be very annoying with TrackIR. Maybe you could add a ticket (explained in the troubleshooting section) describing this issue.

ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead - DEMO!

Try modifying the smoothing value in Controls, might help.

ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead - DEMO!

I agree with BIS on this approach of leting users have more fun with the demo. In the end, i believe there will be a greater amount of users wanting more and thus buying it.

    Information.

Yeah, it's clear that with Arma2, BIS are mainly targeting the console kids.................... Do you really think the things you write before actually writing them?

    Head movement lag

A few months ago there were several threads discussing mouse lag issues. You might want to check them, as I sort of remember that some users tweaked their mouse configuration in windows to solve their problems (dpi and stuff like that). Hope it helps. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=74085 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=78889 http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=87887

    Head movement lag

You suffer this in the OA demo? Only with head movement but not with weapons? Not sure if it will help, but you can try modifying the value of masFramesAhead in the arma config file (0 or 1 might help)

ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead - DEMO!

I just tested me alone (no AI) in Feruz Abad, all settings to normal, VD 1600, 1280x1024 with 75%3d resolution, no pp. I get between 35 and 40 fps all the time. Flying with a helo it also feels smooth, although I can see objects poping up quite frequently. My specs: CPU AMD 9850 quad core 2.5GHz 2GB ram ATI 3870 512 ram Win XP SP3 By the way, demo build is 1.52.72153

ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead - DEMO!

Wow I just tried it, it runs very smooth for me (a lot more than Arma2), although I haven't tried big battles. I have a quad core, 2 gigs ram and an ATI 3870, and with med to low settings I get always more than 30fps, even if I mess with the town gen module. The thing is, even at 30fps it feels really smooth, no microstutter at all, very responsive. Feels like 100fps. Great job BIS!

    Information.

From this definition you could also say Carrier Command is an FPS... If they didn't release it yet it's because it's not finished and they simply failed to calculate an accurate release date (as it happens so often in the videogame industry), not because they sat around a table and said "LET'S PISS OFF OUR CUSTOMERS AND NOT RELEASE IT FOR ANOTHER 6 MONTHS!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!". We all want to play CC, but bitching about how BIS runs their bussiness is not going to make it come any sooner.
