theres alot of annoying things other than TK, does anyone know a group that run a passworded server (with good uk pings) that runs on a "here's the password, play nice or your banned" type setup ?

i think its destiny is for a WL +1, but i hope the hero +2 will cancel it out.

yea its annoying, but not as annoying as being on your m4, bringing up your bino's and then selecting your m9, which makes you bring up the m4 again, immediatly put it away, then bring up the m9. why not just go direct to the the weapon you selected?

i dont think anyone from bis ever said "we dont really want to release a demo right now, as the game is not ready at all". just nothingness but slowly improving screenshots, then positive looking videos. Maybe people got hopeful ? It's understandable with the little (read squatt) negative info avaliable.

not really that odd. the keys give a quick clear cut change of view. sometimes using the mouse to move your view in the humvee has a kind of drunken effect. - your head feels a bit erm, like your on drugs, its all a bit sloppy, like your head has momentum (yeah i know in real life your head has weight, but move your head about and youll see your muscles stop it from being like it is in the game) :-) personally i drive with the mouse once im moving in my rough direction of intended travel, as the keys are horrid at speed.

this version has a cti bug, server crash when you start the CTI map. easy little bug to let slip through

i know, there's typos throughout the mission descriptions, CTD's, graphics glitches, and AI bugs. its all very unfinished. im just hoping the demo isnt from the lastest build as i dont think the german version has as many problems. pretty bad when you boot the game and spot a typo in the first 30 seconds though. as demo's go its fun to play but my god, if i didnt know OFP already i'd never buy ArmA from that demo.

a gig of ram ?

anyone else have the demo crash like all the time ? - demo bummed out to desktop at least 4 times each for the 6 members we had playing it last night in a 3 hour period. .... wev'e narrowed down that its something to do with when people pick their kits form the group window and lag. - maybe two people pick the same item and the whole game falls over. -- everyone but the host crashes.

i agree with everything in the quoted.

a lot of things are quite screwy ;-/

Try asking 505, they're the ones who will decide. i dont know if that's just a standard reply but shouldnt BIS know what protection their game is going to the shelf with ? and if BIS dont know yet, it can be assumed 505 havn't decided, which means asking 505 is pointless. or have i missed something here ? edit: sorry to jump on every mention of a copy protection scheme, but its *really* important to me :-)

i'll look into it some more. but yeah im on newest drivers, AA isnt forced in drivers (which look really naff by the way) not a virus or spyware, but ill do it anyway. i know its not normal performance ! every other game runs really well, even at 1440x900 res, and in most games with a high AA setting. Surely i dont have to stuggle along at 800x600 res with a blurry tft screen ? - i havnt used 800x600 for any game in years. I'm not convinced its a step forward in graphics is anyone actually running at a nice res ? i.e 1440x900 at 16:10 aspect ? short of SLI, im not sure what i should do.

There is no such thing as a Nvidia 9800. Also instead of "default settings" try lowering them. Also lower the viewdistance. Texture detail at low apparently makes a huge difference for some. its a 7600 256mb sorry (gfx card numbering has got really confusing really fast) with patch (and language conversion if that matters). if i lower everything (as in lowest or off) it does run at 1440 res at a half decent rate. but it looks really, really bad. I'm a bit worried because this is just running about in a fairly open area, im scared what will happen in a heavy fight. was a bit let down, because id heard how arma was meant to be less heavy on systems due to some new map loading system and engine optimisations. -- lost faith in that really. either way, people with TFT's (esp widescreens) must be hurting trying to run this at proper resolutions. not trying to turn this into a troubleshooting thread -- im not really playing until my friends get the game (in 2007 to god knows when).
-
here's an example problem for you. I run a TFT that has a default res of 1440x900 (widescreen). I run most games (new ones btw) on that res, with pritty much everything full whack, AA on 4 or 8. Frame rate high enough to not need checking (50+ id say easy). on ArmA it runs at about 2-3 (im not kidding) fps at that res, even with everything on default settings. using 1024 at the aspect of my monitor it's so blurred as to not be playable (cant read anything on the screen at all). so what do i do ? -- uninstall it i guess to collect dust, unless someone has a good idea. edit: ought to put some specs i guess. Nvidia 9800, 2Gb RAM, 4600+ athlon cpu. sata hd.

are you allowed to put the actual files up that come with arma ? arnt these copyrighted ?

just to clarify, is there any version released anywhere yet that doesn't use starforce ?

a Å50 note. -- actually the suggestion of bundleing trackIR would be really cool, i'd buy it.
