    Unfortunately I do not know anything about compatibility as I do not use Steam, so I cannot confirm whether direct IP would work or not for players with dissimilar distributions.

  4. These missions were made for the original Iron Front Liberation 1944 game and its DLC. Although I suspect converting it to the A2OA format by renaming it from the .IFA extension to the .PBO extension ought to work flawlessly in the IFA2 port, I have no clue whether it will work with IFA3, as I do not have (nor am interested in getting) Arma III. Given the previous track record of succeeding product releases by BIS no guarantees are given whether things work out of the box. The missions may well need additional work to convert them to the new game environment.

  5. Hi,

     

    Nice to see other people creating missions for IFL1944. After a couple of playthroughs I have this observation and suggestion.

     

    You might wish to place a few stationary enemies near the church area. Because the Soviet unit that defends the village of Baranow is on a guard waypoint they all march to the sound of the guns and are fighting and dying at the edge of the town. Therefore the mission ends without the player actually needing to advance into the built up area towards the church. By placing some additional defenders near that church the players are forced to advance into town.

     

    One way to accomplish that is to place a Maxim machinegun there: this unit will not move on his own accord, so players must move into town to take him out. You might wish to give him a few comrades in support though that also keep their initial placement.

     

    Single Soviet soldiers (that is, ones not grouped together with others) can be given this line in their initialization field:

     

    this forceSpeed 0; this setunitpos "Middle"; this setbehaviour "Combat";

     

    The first statement will make the unit stationary (provided he is not grouped together with others) while remaining able to change the direction he is facing, the second one will make him crouch, so you can place him behind cover or concealment to make it harder for players to detect or hit him, and the final statement puts the unit in fighting mode with his weapon shouldered and ready to engage.

  19. Version 2.8 contains three new missions to bring the total number of coops in the pack to 64. A couple of existing missions received slight changes to correct minor mistakes.

    All Fours has a Sherman crew defeat a German combined arms attack before taking out their support units.

  21. Some considerations for setting up a beach landing mission:

    * due to the large number of objects (the obstacles) in the area AI crew of landing boats will get confused and take a long time deciding their path to the waypoint. To avoid them deciding to take a detour it is useful to cheat and use a setVelocity statement in the boat so it will already move in the right direction. In Vanilla IFL1944 it strangely enough took a negative value for the landing craft to go forward.

    * an alternative to increased levels of damage tolerance one can also use the setCaptive statements, with the units in question considered neutral by AI till a certain point is reached after which their status is set to false. This avoids the suspension of disbelief breaking player experience of taking a direct 75mm PAK hit to the chest and continuing on without trouble.

    I just tried it out in the vanilla game (ie Iron Front Liberation 1944 plus the D-Day DLC), placed a player unit, then an AI manned landing craft, named it boat and copied and pasted the exact line into the on act. field of the waypoint, then pressed preview and it worked.

    Are you using Vanilla IFL or the A2 or A3 port? The method above works in the Vanilla version, but since I do not use the ported versions I cannot vouch for those.
