Why do you play OFP? I'm sure that they do it because they think it's fun and it improves their skills. Also a lot of books aimed at scale modellers use them to illustrate markings on aircraft etcetera. Another market is military organisations that sell these at airshows showing their aircraft and use them as gifts when people reach certain milestones in their carreer, I.E. Make Fighter Weapon Instructor or leave one unit for another. There is actually a lot more money to be made from these then from OFP or Flightsim addon's. This is perhaps actually the most sellable art there is. None of other art you have seen in this thread will probably ever go beyond the hobby level. It might look good but there isn't a big market for it. For this there is.

Ah so he was manhandling crocks and generally aggravating them so an anti venom could be made for crocodile bites! Glad you explained that, I just though he was being wreckless.
-
Damn I never knew this guy had this many fans. I thought he was wreckless, a thrill seeker and totally irresponsible. This was bound to happen really, if you piss off wild animals for long enough sooner or later one is going to get you.

But how randomly is it really? Any smart wannabe dictator like Chavez would take action against the people that worked against him in the elections first, and get them out of the way, and never near power again. I see this as just another consolidation of power in a South American country. South America is poor already, but when everyone with sufficient education and guts starts leaving the country, it will go down even further in the long run, when friends of the leader get jobs they are no where near qualified for. Edit:typo Where on gods green earth do you get the idea Chavez is a dictator? He is a democratically elected President who almost was overthrown in a coup which his people thwarted. He will be subject to another electoral cycle soon. Chavez is not now nor has he ever been a dictator. Furthermore you claims of nepotisme are absurd. You think this only happens under left oriented regimes? Ofcourse not. Check out the Fidela regime. Think that was a big fat meritocracy? You have to be kidding or being sarcastic. You honestly think a spineless government that allows toxic waste dumping with all its detremental health issues it causes on the long run, Child labour is good because it benefits the happy few in the host countries and makes the already rich corporate fat cats even richer is better then a socialist government? Nobody is being lynched for entrepeneural aspirations in Venezuala. Robert Mugabe and Hugo Chavez are two very different people.

No better way to scare investors away then tales of human rights abuses leading to consumer boycots. Nationalising companies is a bad idea but there have to be agreements made that also allow for money to flow to the local people who's living enviroment is often heavily changed by activities to extract minerals or oil. Hugo Chavez is a lesser evil then Pinochet was. Succesive US administrations have encouraged, propped up and supported governments in southern america that were in their own best interests but were completely opposite to the interests of the people they governed over. The US is now seeing the fruits of decades of short sighted, undemocratic, unfair and egocentric foreign policy in southern america. When the venezuelan people elected Chavez to lead them there was a US backed coup to overthrow him. A US Navy hercules had allready arrived at the island he was held to take him out of the country. Luckily popular support causing the coup to fail stopped this. If you want to export democracy all over the world you are going to accept that the will of the people is not always to please the US interests but rather their own. You can not continue to fuck over other peoples governments and expect them to remain full of good will towards yourself.

Heh Verbal I have 2GB of ram and sometimes working on my profiles brings this machine to its knees to! Now for my next trick, the most famous F-4 ever! High Resolution Version McDD F-4J 155800 NG100 "Showtime 100" VF-96 "Fighting Falcons" The machine in which (then) Lt. Randy Cunningham and his RIO Lt. (JG) Willie Driscoll shot down three MiG-17's in quick succesion which would make them both the only Navy Aces in the Vietnam war. Showtime 100 was lost on the way back sadly when it was hit by a SAM and Cunningham and Driscoll ejected to be rescued quickly. "Showtime 100", as its callsign was, went on to become perhaps the most popular aircraft in the history of scale model building and Cunningham went on to become a congressman.

Do they still exist? Would be good to setup a dutch branch! The ultimate protest party

And how, exactly, is the US going to "improve" Mexico's government? The massive corruption can't be eliminated without major reform, and the officials who profit from the corruption aren't about to attack that same corruption. Since Mexico is essentially flushing its poor and dissatisfied into the US before they can make trouble, then perhaps tightening the border will keep more of those dissatisfied Mexicans in their own country, where they could create some internal change. Otherwise, the US would have to resort to external change, and I highly doubt that would be an especially pretty spectacle (Remember what happened when the US tried to change Iraq's government?). Stopping illegal immigration is impossible, but we can certainly slow it down. Well it is not the US's job to reform the mexican government but I do think it would be good to look at ways to encourage reform. There is no other way to put a serious dent in illegal immigration in my opinion, also helping mexico's economy so there is less unemployment but also that all layers of the community profit from this growth and not just the people at the top is very important. I fully agree with you though that there should be measures taken to stop illegal immigration along the border, even if it doesnt stop all the immigration it might still demotivated would-be immigrants.
-
Legal immigration is fine and all but illegal immigration is a different beast that is changing my nation, the United States, for real. The best way to stop the tide from the south is to improve the situation in the countries from which these people originate. You can try to just stop them coming into the country but that is "Mopping with the tap open" to rougly translate a dutch saying I think it's almost undoable to stop this the old fashioned way. Europe has the same problem with African immigrants from the south across the med.

I remember the Iron Curtain falling as a kid, I was 10-12 at that time, and being amazed at how quickly things changed. I think it took most of us in western europe completely by surprise. Congratulations on your independance day and I hope you will be free forever!

So when hezbollah fired rockets at israeli troops in southern lebanon that didnt count? I for one am appalled to see how fast the UN Resolution has been turned into a document that apparently is only binding for Israel. Lebanon is completely shying away from its obligations under it to disarm hezbollah and the sounds from the UN is that they are allowing them to do so. If Lebanon and the UN arent planning to keep up their side of the bargain then I don't see why Israel should. Another chance for lasting peace down the drain.

There is a big fat difference between battle ships and light patrol boats, which we actually got fully functioning for NAFP. You were talking about battle ships. Read your original post.
-
Oh yes, battle ships, black eagles, Su-33 and death stars all around! Is your planet called "Arcadia" by all chance?
-
A battle ship?! Do you have any idea how many men it takes to run a ship like that? thousands of men are needed. Ever taken a drive around nogova? Notice how it's all small farms, villages and VERY small towns. If you take 2 x 2500 men to man those battle ships you will have depopulated the island and THEN you need to have a airforce. Nogova would be laughing allright ... at you.

No. If people want them so bad, we still need a scripter. And to dispell any idea that NAFP "Failed" because of us being too willing to change course, the basic equipement for NAFP was selected by me, Sole and a couple of other members on day 3 of the addon project. We stuck to our guns (pun intended) from day one. We got suggestions for our airforce as stupid as using F-15's and B-1's. For our army we got the suggestions of  Abram's and Black eagles. M4's and apache's etc. There is only one reason why NAFP hasnt released as of yet and that is because of the three attempts to recruit a scripter it only got one reply from a guy who first wanted us to send all the addons to him to "evaluate". Apparently we started to late in the game to stand a chance for OFP resistance, let's hope ArmA sees a influx of serious scripters. I got to know some of the most skilled and talented people in the OFP Addon community, people like Jaguar, Edge, the men from RHS, DeadmeatXM, Sole, the guys from FDF, FW200 and Earl who allowed us to use some of his work. My hat goes of to them. They helped out.
-
NAFP is still going in theory for ArmA however due to complete and total community apathy we were unable to get any worthwhile scripter so that kinda put a stop to our efforts. Who know's we might be back for ArmA and OFP2, if this time around there is a bit more enthousiasme to help out.
-
wow before I was generally not that impressed by what I saw of ArmA but these latest screens really look the bussiness! Looking forward to its release!

The spins are scripted in PF, the maker Oleg Maddox said so a while back I believe, This means that there a number of pre recorded spins that you can get into but they arent dependant on speed and altitude. Too bad about the starforce in Lomac etc., Wont be trying it then.
-
Sorry to burst your bubble but I believe oleg has commented that IL-2's spins are scripted. BTW, spins are very easy to get out of IRL in most planes with ratings to do them. Even on a F-16 a normal flat spin is easily countered. As long as you have enough altitude spins aren't dangerous as long as you know what you're doing and the plane can handle them. I bought Lomac when it came out, havent tried any of the addons because of Starforce. Do they still use SF? If not I'd give them a go.

What stick you need is pbb defined by what you want to fly, for general aviation and airliners a yoke by CH products and the rudder pedals from the same are pbb best.
