  1. Am having a problem adding the Mi-28 new mod to the Domination east AI, dunno what am doing wrong this exactly what am doing ,

    In editor am adding the Mi-28 with this init :

    handle = [this, 120] execVM "x_scripts\x_vehirespawn.sqf"

    I press preview in editor everything working fine i save, copy to mp missions , i start server and opps scripts aint running, no mission no nothing. What am doing wrong?

    the only thing you do when you open up the mission in the editor is change the mission.sqm file. Once you have edited it to your liking, you need to make sure that all the other files from domination are there as well before you can PBO it. What I do is just un-pbo domination, copy EVERYTHING to where I can edit it in the game, once I finish editing it, I then copy EVERYTHING back to my dominaiton directory and repbo it. Should be good to go then.


  2. Anyone else having trouble turning off enemy patrols rolling through base blowing up service buildings? I changed the code in i_server.sqf to look like this....however patrols still come and destroy my service buildings. Happens both on private and dedi server...

    // if set to true no enemy AI will attack base and destroy bonus vehicles or whatever
    d_no_sabotage = true;

    Also, I added a C130 to the airfield and gave it cargo abilities using the C130 cargoscript and it works great on my own server however, it seems to fail to initialize when the mission is run on the dedicated server....Please help

    I have the C130 in the editor with the init line

    c130 = [this] execVM "c130cargo.sqf" 

    And I have the two scripts needed (c130cargo.sqf, cargoscript.sqf) located in the main mission folder (not in a subfolder).

    To the first question, what we did was completely take out the patrols by going to where you set the arrays of the make up of the patrols and set them all to 0.

    Well, from just taking a look in the domination PBO one of the scripts you would need is the x_scripts/x_addsoilder.sqf file. The others commands would be in the x_setup.sqf and most likely init.sqf file.


  4. also, I noticed one of the options is to add another of MHQ. How do you add in a third MHQ after placing the HQ LAV in the Editor and copying in the exec stuff for MHQ2?

    In essence, I want to have one MHQ at the airstrip, one of the Carrier, and one we take on the missions with us. That way we can transport between them.


  5. Got a question about the mission.sqm file. In there you have

    addOns[]=

    followed by

    addOnsAuto[]=

    Under each is an array of mods. What is the difference between the two?

    I had tried adding in new vehicles, the little bird, and just having a couple spawned at the start of the mission. Worked fine in the editor, but could never get it to function on the server. I noticed that it listed the littlebird mod in the addons section, and when people connected it would say they needed that mod. Never could find out how to get people to just download it from the server and wondered if I put it in the addOnsAuto as well would it allow people to download it from the server?

    Actually that would be a redirect or something similar and it would have to be built into the game itself and the netcode. Unfortuantely Arma 2 as did Arma 1 not offer this option to download from a server or another place a mod. They would have to know they needed the mod in order to join in.

    Thanks Xeno for all your hard work on developing this mod we are having heaps of fun with it and congrats for the award, well deserved!

    I notice a couple of posts regarding destruction of the wreck repair bay in domination west and no capacity to repair this. We have noticed this also on our server and it wasn't clear to me from reading the forums whether this was deliberate or not and I guess whether there was any way to modify this so it could be repaired? cheers for any comment input.

    Its a bug that has to do with patrols. We have fixed it on our server by turning off the random patrols the mission puts in. One of my co server admins has done this. What it is, sometimes a tank or a BMP will come running thru the base doing a randomly generated patrol. This usally happens about 6 hours into the mission we noticed. If the patrol takes it through the Air Base it will destroy only the wreck repair and the helo repair with its HE/Main gun thus not leaving rubble behind. When I get home and talk to my co-server admin I will post up where the code is to change that if Xeno doesnt get to it first.

    Another question, now that I have the F-16 spawning as a reward vehicle at the end of a main mission, how would I change it to be a wreck that is transportable if it is destroyed. I just took one up that we won, and it was shot down over a town, but its not showing on the map as a wreck to be repaired.


  7. Xeno, I had a quick questions. As new vehicles and weapons come out, my squad (we run domination only on a private server) would like to add them as rewards when you finish clearing a town and not just add them at the start. So like instead of an A-10 or AV8B, if we had an F-16 mod in, a F-16 would be a choice as well. I know there is a vehicle array but how would we add these new vehicles in to the reward list?


  8. Can you tell me which version ?

    At least in T10 the ruins get placed by a script (and you should allways get an action menu entry).

    The warfare buildings in A2 simply disappear if they get destroyed and you have to manually create ruins.

    Its the T10, latest build you have, and its just the Helo repair and Wreck repair building. The Vehicle repair and Jet service buildings always have ruins to repair from.

    But without the ammo, and because of the 2 main weapon feature, it's not working that great. I found it easier to get rid of all my weapons and reget them as I wanted.

    Last update means you plan to work on something else for A2 or that you're done with the game ?

    I agree, it sucks that it doesnt reload your clips if your missing some, but thats the way it has always been.

    Xeno has stated that he wishes to play more of the game and working new missions and not updating just this one.


  9. Big time bug for us in West Domination. We run the complete 21 town mission. We leave it up for a few days to run. After the 2nd or 3rd day its running on our dedicated server we lose our wreck support building and helo repair/rearm building. What it is, an enemy tank will come through the air base and blow them up, leaving no wreckage of it behind to allow us to rebuild it. Have tried laying on the ground, have tried walking right on the spot it was with an engineer and nothing.


  10. I played a game last night where pilots in an a10 kept circling eh battle asking for people to laser targets.

    I got a designator from the ammo crate but it wouldn't let me equip it.

    It showed in my gear and everything and that was it.

    You have to have a laser designator battery as well. Its a red square ammo item in the crates. Thats what allows you to select it.


  11. It is 2009 people don't put up with nonsense like that anymore. Is it that hard to learn from your mistakes and get it right the 3rd time. Attention spans drop and expectations of quality rise every year.

    surely you dont think Arma 2 is the ONLY game that has ever been released unfinished. I have to use my fingers and toes and i still run out of space to count the unfinished products that have been released.

    What you fail to understand though is that BIS will fix the issues where most companies would flash the middle finger at you and take your money all the way to the bank.

    My ISP isn't %100 reliable here because of either A.) its fucking comcast, or B.) roadway construction taking out the telephone/cable lines temporarily, so this is a deal breaker for me. I went through the EXACT SAME bullshit with the Company of Heroes expansion (non steam) and I ended up using that as target practice with my 1911

    soooo you are upset that it updates automatically......but you can change that option??? That makes no sense. And if your having ISP problems, then go offline mode.


  13. How do you airlift things? I know about the tow cables but I couldnt find any posts explaining it.

    Its a script I believe that mission designers have to put in the mission. In domination (what I play) you fly a lift chopper (blackhawk) over the vehicle (cant be a heavy tank or AAA) and you get the option to lift vehicle in the action menu on the left. Have to hover right above the vehicle. Not easy to do.


  14. Guys, there is nothing wrong with Steam. If you want a DVD copy, make a backup disc,which it will let you do. I downloaded Arma2 in an hour. Yes it will not let you do beta patches......but I never liked beta patches anyways.

    Yes it will run Mods, Custom maps, custom skins, custom what ever. You can do everything with the steam version as you could with the disc besides patching because it does it for you.

    Steam is super safe as long as you keep your email address updated for it and dont give your username and password out to anyone. I have bought 10 games off steam since it came out and I have not once had a problem. I hate having discs and boxes around, it clutters up my place and who wants to keep a stack of cds that you have to switch out. Plus when I add people to my friends list I can see what they are playing and message them in game.

    Steam has so many advantages and very very little disadvantages. The people who have negative things to say about steam, have never tried it, or cant read the instructions they give you. That simple.
