  1. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=57336 Good news, read the last (newest) post I made. Sorry Predator for posting that in here, but what are you currently doing as far as zom goes? I assume your getting rid of the extra zoom function we have, but not the initial zoom applied to the optic view? Or do you actually have a way of getting rid of the initial zoom and not get the fish eye effect?
  2. Sorry, didn’t know anyone made a post in my topic until I saw someone else mention it, heh. Good post Corkey. I’m hoping something ingenious for CQB is somehow developed. I’m really happy with the fact that they unlocked the view in iron sight mode for patch 1.05. As far as my iron sight “fix†goes, good news, at least when to tools come out. As I suspected, I now know for a fact that the fish eye problem with the gun can be fixed by moving your “eye†point forward for each gun’s p3d file, but maybe there is a quicker/easier way?, I don’t know. Currently as it stands in the game, as I mentioned before, the eye point is at the very back butt of the guns when you go into iron sight mode, so when you get rid of the FOV change when going into iron sight mode (the initial zoom applied when you PRESS optics, not HOLD the zoom button), you need to move your eye point forward to compensate, which will fix the fish eye look. Hopefully I (and/or others) can make these changes soon if the tools come out.
  3. Awesome man! I'm really impressed by your enhancements. This is going to turn this into one amazing game.

  5. Thanks Jackal326, worked perfectly . If you are talking about tilting you head slightly sideways in optics view, I also am very interested in this possiblity! if it is actually possible though.
  6. Much appreciated! I'll give it a try and I’ll stop posting here, because I don’t want to hijack his thread.
  7. Thanks for the quick reply. So you open a user made weapon p3d file or old ofp one, but how do you make an adjustment to the memory point?
  8. Interesting. But what program do you need to edit the p3d file?

Look at the first video or more.... http://dslyecxi.com/botg_infiltration.html *edit* Well, I guess I could have just said, freeaim IN iron sight mode, lol.

YESSSS!!!!! Now we're f*cking talking!!!! BTW two things....... In the new video can you..... 1) show how much zoom is applied (if any. I couldn't tell very well in your first video) by just clicking the optics button once, not holding it down to do the real zoom. Do that a few times IF there still is a zoom applied to iron sights. 2) what happens with scoped weapons.
  12. Rg

    Joysticks. A question for BIS.

I'm wondering the same thing. It wasn't in the changelog, so I guess we might have to wait a little longer.

    Looks really good man

Thank god they made this fix! I don't know why, but it seems weird to me that people weren't really complaining about this. This was probably the biggest iron sight issue in this game; the fact that your "head camera" was locked to the gun. I talk about this issue here as well as some other things. http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....=rg7621 I don't know if they had this planned for a while (but why release all the other versions with the view locked) or they listened to somebody in the community, but either way thank god they made this fix!
  15. I got your message too late. I'll send it whenever you want, if you want to include it in your next update.
  16. I hope you don't mind me messing around with your addon. I never tried adjusting textures/colors in ofp/arma before, so I figured I would give it a try. This would be my personal skin of choice (unless you wanted to incorporate it), because I like the simplistic black, but thats just me. The only thing that needs to be done is to remove the "RACS" and maybe slightly lighten up the color where I put the decals to match the cabin frame. That's also another problem; on the other side the word "Alouette" is reversed. Any way to fix that?
  17. For the civi, maybe you can get some ideas from these....... 1) http://web.telia.com/~u52219934/502HKP2_127-2711.jpg 2) http://avia-dejavu.net/F-BSRM.JPG 3) http://www.airliners.net/info/stats.main?id=7 (Exterior and Interior shot)
  18. I’m sorry, but that made me laugh. 9.5 for "months" of replayability, not years. I mean how low are his and others expectations for lasting appeal of most games? weeks? This shows you how f*cked up this whole "industry" is. Instant gratification.....rinse and repeat.

dxdll in ARMA, like in OFP

AUS_Twisted, Yes, I know the colors are exaggerated in that picture, but what got me thinking was the slight (for the lack of a better word) "grittiness" of the picture. Everything in ArmA, even as pretty as it really is, feels too "smooth/perfect" and lacks the "gritty/imperfect" side of reality (if that makes any sense) . I don’t mean a dxdll that looks like that exact screenshot, but we have all seen screenshots by talented individuals that make this and other games look more "life like" by post-processing. I know there’s usually heavy post-processing involved into making a game screenshot look realistic, but maybe there is some kind of effect or filter that can push toward this direction of "life like" graphics in real-time even if only for a slight improvement over the current look. I know this a very minute suggestion/improvement, but like I said, I thought I would just throw this out there, because maybe we will see something interesting some time in the future from this community. I know some may disagree, but maybe an effect can be more "convincing" then nothing at all and if you don't agree, remember this would be an *optional* add-on of sorts and have other possible options, if ever made.

dxdll in ARMA, like in OFP

I was thinking about a possible dxdll "filter" for ArmA after seeing a picture Stryda posted. Maybe it's not possible or you might not want to work on one, but somekind of effect/filter with the game could make it "feel" more real, such as this screenshot. Just thought I would throw that out there
  21. I thought modders were really limited in what they could do right now. Thanks for the clarification.
  22. Great news for the US, but I really don't like this statement..... "We're going to start beta testing of ArmA editing tools soon. The process of releasing the entire necessary infrastructure to the community will be our ongoing effort in the upcoming months and we're working hard on it. Please be patient and understand that this is not something that will happen at one point but intstead we'll be releasing one piece of the tools after another." I thought (if I remember correctly) that sometime before the first Czech and German release, possibly in some interview they said they were doing to try to release the tools WITH the game? Unless I'm crazy and totally got it mixed up. But now we're going to get small bits and pieces months later and other parts much later then that. With such a late start on modding, this inturn will hurt the community and potential sales, because IMHO that's were this game will shine and possibly reach it's potential. Right now as it stands, it will be hard for me to play this game until a mod like WGL comes along.

    Gamma Correction, a massive change.

Thanks for posting that, because I was overlooking it. I did adjustments for ofp, but didn’t bother with ArmA, since I have to play on very low settings, but I’m glad I did. I know this is dependent on your monitor, but for me the best settings are (brightness=1.6/gamma=0.7 in game with my viewsonic crt at 1/5 brightness) similar to xnodunitx's setting. Everything looks much more lively and lush. Dark areas are actually dark and the sun looks like it’s actually shining and reflecting off objects. Same thing here. Please do make a mission test as you described or something along those lines. On a side note, this game is f’n beautiful! High Settings Picture You can get away with low settings for textures and other things, but it just occurred to me that shadows are a MUST in this game. Low Settings Picture I turned them off before, because it was such a huge performance hit on my shitty machine, but now that I see how much concealment it provides, it feels like you’re cheating when you have it disabled.
  24. I’m glad people finally understand. I guess the video was worth it then. - The one big question though is, how do you change the position of your head cam? Any modder ever come across this? - Is it a matter of changing a few numbers in a file or do you have to use a 3D modeling, animating, and rendering program like Maya, LightWave, or Oxygen, which means we have to wait for the tools to be released? Well we are already limited to ~90 degrees on our monitor when our real eyes have ~180 as plaintiff1 pointed out. Something can hopefully be worked out though. Anything from more gun sway/gun shake/(insert idea here). Yes, but how easy is it for you (if your holding a rifle in real life) to keep your head and gun in the ready to fire position while looking all around with just your eyes? It would just take a fraction of a second to return your eyes to the sight and fire. You wouldn’t lower your gun completely to get a better view like you do in game. Even when looking at our computer monitor, our eyes still scan and only focus on one thing at a time. I hope that made some sense (quick reply without much thought because I'm in a rush),
  25. NEW VIDEO - Iron Sight Issues This is a video that explains the iron sight issues and the difference between having a low FOV (default) and high FOV (modified) in iron sight/optic mode and also the possibility of having freeaim. I made this kind of quick even though it took a few hours, but I hope this makes things clearer. I also added a new picture for the first section with comments in green and red. --------------------------------------------------- Thanks plaintiff1, Finally I get a decent reply. I know it’s a long “exhaustive†read, but I wanted to be as detailed as possible, but it’s almost as if people are just looking at the pictures and not reading the text so they don’t comprehend the overall idea. manhunter09, Thanks for the very useful post. Sled88, You have to change the optic values in the weapon config.
