    after reading much of this post and all the evidence and crap, ive come to the conclusion that... everything is so biased and it gets pretty obvious when you use evidence that is biased or twisted in each other's favor in order to back yourself up. arguing this out is as pointless as the conflict itself, although i think its good to let everyone know what you think anyway (as i am doing so myself lol) i feel there is never one answer for who is right however. the people who are always right in history are the ones that can convince everybody of that. and that is not happening any time soon with this conflict...

    if youve ever flown a normal a10 if there is a tank it shows up red and you can target it. same with the LGB. the laser target shows up red and you can target it and the bomb will land on the dot, provided you release it at the correct time

    i know what you mean romolus, you mean trying to free-look in a moving vehicle and no matter how hard you try the view always shifts back to center. that doesnt happen all the time tho, i havnt really noticed the situations it does happen in. has anyone noticed? there are lots of MP games ive played where it hasnt happened

    they need to release an official patch eventually. 1.91, 1.92-1.94, 1.95, 1.96, there will be too many server versions to play!!!
  6. yes but a change in theatres isnt the same as a change of era...from what i understood initially there would be 3 theatres, but all in the same time period. now the site shows that it will be the present time period, not the era that vietnam was fought in. the only ways that vietnam could still be included with the present day vehicles and weapons is if either A) the game features stuff from different eras, one of those being vietnam and another being the present. or B) the game is going to take place in vietnam but in the present day, and it wont be about the vietnam conflict in the late 60s/early 70s. i cant see BIS making a game based on a 1970s conflict with raptors and year 2000 technology edit: remember THEATRE != ERA

  9. about independance lost, yea i had that in mind when i said it could be a standalone game based off opf1 engine. not saying independance lost WOULD be 'nam, just that we've seen that come up before and i think it is a valid possibility that bis could want to do the same thing with 'nam.
  10. there was a vietnam mod under production by a bunch of people including seventh, seth and dna. from what i understood at the time they were working somewhat close with bis at the time. eventually the mod kinda faded out and disappeared it seems and opf2 kind of popped up saying it was going to be vietnam. now naturally i think to myself "hmmm all this work done on a vietnam mod, now opf2 is going to be vietnam, is there any connection?" well at first i thought yes but now im just totally baffled...anyhow as far as there being an opf2 mod of vietnam, that means that maybe it is being put aside while opf2 is worked on, then maybe will be resumed as a mod for opf2 when its out. of course this like hellfish said is all speculation. i just hope bis doesnt go with the old valve "leave everyone in the dark" approach. to be honest with you i very much liked the pre-opf "release craploads of screenshots, video and other media for the community to see and hide nothing from them" approach lol. or maybe they wont do that they are just waiting to have a decent "wow" factor. whatever bis has up their sleave though, im sure they mean well as for vietnam, i hope any of the above options are true except the one that says its scrapped. i got excited when i heard it was being made for opf, disappointed when the news stopped coming about the mod, excited again when i heard opf2 was going to have 'nam and now as i said above i am baffled and dont know what to think edit: i must remind you all that i think seventh, seth and dna are now part of bis. i also remember they were behind the vietnam mod for opf1. to say that there was no models or anything made would be totally false, because, if you looked at the vietnam mod website (is it still even up?) they had plenty of stuff that was made.

    one thing i must be honest about when posting; i think OPF's multiplayer code in the first several releases hurt them bad. i know alot of people that stopped playing because the game was extremely frustrating, especially gunning inside vehicles and the incredible lag. had the multiplayer code been as good as it is now i think thered be yet a much larger following of people.

    ive been playing it since the day the demo came out pre-release, but in my mind i was playing it in my head at least a year before release of course it wasnt as fun in my head, not to mention all i had to go on was what BIS gave us (which actually happened to be alot) edit: proof: http://opflashpoint1985.iespana.es/opflashpoint1985/veterans.html and oh yea, talking about demo days, i remember it was like the best day of my life when i came home from school, checked the OPF news and saw the news article that the demo had been released (much awaited for by alot of people including me, and i believe at the time it was a surprise and we were expecting the demo a bit later) lol but yea that was funny when we were modifying the mission pbo in OPF so we could fly the blackhawk and stuff lol, our "hax0r" techniques were so primitive then haha, and then i remember all the unofficial mission editors and crap that came out afterwards before game release come to think of it when the demo came out we were lucky because BIS could have compressed the mission file and we would have been screwed. but i know BIS left it able to be changed intentionally oh yea and if anyone still has the first version of the demo, if you want demo missions i have a few cool ones i made (made them in notepad too at the time LOL good ole' notepad, jpg map of OPF to figure out the coordinates to put in and nothing else )

    i must admit as well, ever since i got playin OPF and involved in the community ive been spelling everything the brit way- using our. part of the reason was "armourdave" lol (i spell armor armour now :-p) and all of the commands in OPF. when i go to write english papers alot of times ill spell it the brit way and they will be like wtf?

    ...and that hampster died about 2 years before i was even into OPF! so its been a long time lol... i think it is safe to say he is now part of my backyard ecosystem, maybe a bit of his molecules mixed up in the grass, the dirt, the roses, and scattered around the neighborhood sup CHAM...where u been. i never see u on this forum. and where is vikingo too? and andone?     i can safely say that OPF has taken up a measurable portion of my life, i just wish i could figure out how many months (straight) i spent playing OPF :-p and sadly due to me doing all this complex stuff in OPF's scripting language, it has gotten me away from the real-world languages that i was learning - i dont learn them anymore cuz i am too busy writing crap for OPF

    why dont they just print the CD key on the jewel case, the manual, and the CD itself, and then tell everyone that they cant get a new CD key cuz i mean if you lost all of those...ya know would be kinda suspicious not to mention how would you run the game without the CD
  21. i just wanna mention something weird ive found. for some reason 2 variables, one which i specifically set to 120, and another which was also definitely 120 werent equalling each other. i used hint format to print them out and sure enough both said 120. well i subtracted on from the other and the result was 7.9......e-6 (0.0000079.....) has anyone had this problem before? and how the heck did such a tiny decimal get onto the end of a number that was set from another number that was written in hard code, 120?

    engineer baby! nothin kicks ass more than watchin a tank innocently rollin across the ground and....BOOM!!!!!! it was my fav. class before the game came out, my favorite class when the demo came out (if you have ever played my nightmine missions) and it is still my favorite, tho it is used very little unfortunately

    Radio suggestion

    sometimes i just wish u could disable different radios in the mission, like vehicle radio or side radio. what if your side cant communicate with the other side? i was thinking of making an MP mission where there were 2 different squads reliant on each other and use flares to make them signal and just leave group chat on but thats not possible
