What does 1 thing got to do with the other? You can either edit that shortcut that was created and add whatever amounts of mods/addons you like, or in your case, using a launcher (sorry, never used one myself), you can always select from the given list which ones you want to play with, am i right? -

1. ACE1 came as an exe. That was done to keep things as easy as possible for the new guys in maintaining the MOD folders, etc, as it was even creating a shortcut for you. 2. That same exe, could have been decompressed manually with 7zip (which is free and accessible) or some other compressing software... So you had both options in 1... Correct! I guess the Public release will use that as well (all the alpha builds are being spread to devs and testers using the updater tool). I don't want to get into detail about how the updater tool itself, since it is Sickboy's baby, and he is the most qualified to give details about it... But, to answer some concerns, the ruby updater will download and place all the content you need in your ArmA2 folder, create a shortcut for you, and afterward, it will really easy to stay up to date with patches and alike, all you would need would be to run the tool. good initiative mate... would go for a more difficult (than BIS) flight model...to the point it would require a learning curve, and some training/experience to master. I don't fly with mouse and keyboard (i know it is possible, even though i can't), i prefer not to fly at all if i forget to plug in my joystick... note that all i have flown so far was FS series, as well as glider iRL. -

Let me share my thoughts with you: 1. ArmA1 MLODS have been released to the community after they have been reversed engineered by someone from the very same community, and BIS decided it would be wiser to just release them (in a proper way), rather than having some RE version beeing used...Remember the first step was the release of Samples (Island, Units, etc) 2. No one said (official statement is what i am talking about), that they (BIS) will release MLODS for A2. And in the end, why should they? ArmA1 MLODS works just fine, minus some RVMAT changes (which have been covered on those forums), and some new bones, they work alright. Plus, afaik, BIS have did it differently this time, and they bought models from 3rd party devs, and i guess the contract between them does not cover free MLODs as well... 3. It would be nice from them to have a similar sample as the soldier they have already released made available for the community (some small island, some tank or alike etc, or at least the .cfg better documented)... That doesn't mean it is a high prio for them (thinking about the OA expansion being developed etc), or that they would... SO, i wouldn't be holding my breath here... PS: Learn to use proper Topic Titles for crying out loud!!!.. The "would you..." type of crap doesn't work to well FFS. It takes the same amount of time in the end, without pissing ppl off who might be willing otherwise to reply to your question.... -
That is not NEW AI...it is a bunch of modified files which you need to use and replace your original ones... which leads me to the following Regarding DR and the modding support: First off, even if "hats off" for the two guys who have released the AI and other fixes is due, those can hardly be called mods, as you need to replace your original files with those ones...kind of shite approach if you ask me. Wouldn't a game that is said to be supporting the modding community feature a way to LOAD mods and addons in the game without needing to replace your core files? Am i missing something? Regarding leaning - well, Q and E are the keys to use for LEAN, and those are taken by 2 other actions atm (even if you can bind to dif keys). But i doubt there will be LEAN on consoles, due to the limited amount of buttons on the pad... Unless someone has some proper info about the content of the patch (from reliable source that is), i suggest you stop spamming shit (see william1 post)

There is no difference between the retail version and download version (steam included) in terms of how the addons/mods are handled by the game. So you will be able to play it, no worries -

As stated in other threads, and confirmed by BIS developers, the impact on FPS is not directly related to Polycount, but rather the amount of sections a model is using (textures materials etc...). Which translates in the game loading up textures from your hdd (pretty straight forwards and simplistic explanation) Since there is no MLODs for A2, no one can confirm it, but my 2 cents is this: the section count on the buildings are way larger than most units...I guess one could just look over the amount of textures in a pbo file to find what the real reason is.... BTW: great amount of info there mate!

That was my POV...and that wasn't a threat in any form, just a reality. Believe me, no one got worked up, it is just that there is no reason to follow up a thread where there is a lot of discussing about only one feature, that you haven't even seen, for the last 20 so pages, sometimes going really of topic and using unreliable references that can't be backed up... It has been answered before that the black-outs are being looked over, even if the system is already different now; there is even a feedback point started on DH based on it...No one is being defensive here, you have already been explained by echo what was the point of how the ACE1 system has been done.. Obviously, you can post whatever you feel like as long as it is on the subject, but you are dancing on the wrong music, and after a while, i doubt anyone will one follow this thread just to read the same thing all over again, and maybe pick up 2 or 3 post out of 20 pages with real info or questions that you might want a answer for -

Not sure what you mean here 4 is not the limit afaik, but i was not able to group individual entities myself (not that i have tried it too much). Seems you can only place pre-defined groups (squad of 4 or 5) on the map No freeview for me. Maybe if you have track-ir, but cannot confirm it since i don't have one. It surely doesn't have a freelook button Not really. The AI are collapsing somehow if hit hard, but never seen one bleed to death, nor using any type of wound dressing... Yes, it does, it actually revives your fallen squad members as well. (spoiler: on hardcore mode, there is no checkpoint or other means to save your progress, so there is no healing/revive) There is no such thing as inventory space, but rather weapons slots as in any other FPS. Never seen an AI running our of ammo (You can try with an AT gunner, he'll shoot your IFV untill he gets you, or you kill him) no shit :P True, but cracking open content doesn't help all that much if there is no means for your to alter/edit those files, or add some of your own... There is no documentation whatsoever, or official statement on this subject

That is IF you stay on topic... And also can be discussed and some things can be asked/proposed, if some good sense is used: inform yourself a bit before requesting stuff that cannot be done (increased head-blob for instance), or that would break more than solve. I know comparison with ACE1 is imminent, but please try and understand: 1. ArmA2 has some more commands and features to work on with (comparing with ArmA1 for instance) 2. ArmA2 still has some limitations in certain areas that you need to be aware of 3. in the end, it will be done as ACE dev team sees fit, no matter how many complains you put here - i guess you can say we know better somewhat, and by no means we are trying to screw it up for some weird reason. 4. feel free to do a proof-of-concept script/system/addon if you feel something needs to be done differently, and submit it. I am sure it will be looked over and annalyzed/compared. Evil_Echo has said everything there was to be said on this subject anyways -

if they ever release some SDK tools, i will try to remove the ghey PP effects, see how the game would look without those ;) i guess "dusty" would be the word (not it looks really strange and still....brownish)

the latest patch should contain all the previous changes as well (at least from 1.02 to 1.04)
