    1. consoles can't handle 20-25k polys per model (vehicles), ~10k everything else 2. consoles can't handle 2048 2^ textures too well either. Especially when you have several per model. 3. consoles can't handle...etc So while for some that mights sound right, your slightly stripped version of A2 actually means a having everything redone. Not to mention the controls, where the amounts of keys not fitting on a normal 103key layout would need to fit on a joypad... Not getting into a console vs PC fight, i am actually looking forward to seeing A2 hitting console market (if that would ever happen)

    while i am a PC gamer (i own a PS3, used that 2-3 times only), i would really want to see BI porting A2 or OA for xbox360 = greater income, slap on CM face etc etc BUT, is that feasible? Not sure..A2 is one of the most demanding games released (yes, in my opinion is more demanding that crysis), especially on CPU side of things, as well as streaming data from HDD. Not sure how and if BIS would be able to pack all that and make it work on the aging x360...

  9. @vilas: with all due respect, you are taking things too personal. 1. there is no point posting in the WIP thread about things you also post everywhere else. If i wanna do a pack of AKs, i am pretty sure, no matter what you would advise, that i am gonna do it anyways, even though you have already covered those AKs. 2. everyone is free to use his own time as they want. In the end, most of us doing models, or any sort of other addons, are doing them for our own pleasure, and not because we need to populate the community with a widder range of toys to play with. At least this is my POV. If it happens that my model have not been covered by anyone else, even better, but not really my point. 3. i can do the same model different than your did it, or even try to compete and surpass yours, isn't it? While i know most of the time there is no point reinventing the wheel, there are times when it's damn worth it. So my own advice to you, in a very respectful way, would be to STOP spamming Request and WIP threads with your own opinions (which are not even related to the posted msj), and understand that there can be 20 versions of the same AK, the community will choose which one they wanna use anyways.
  10. 7. recoils: A2 is different from A1 here. While values can be adjusted (and they have been for ACE2), in A1, you could tweak both vertical and horizontal jump of the gun. In A2, the horizontal is fixed, so you cannot have the effect in A1, where the recoil was visible and pushing into your avatars shoulder... 9. running speeds: are pretty strict, and the values one can change are only the top speed. While sprinting starts from a high value and goes down towards a value that is less that jogging, for all the other movement modes, this cannot be done. Nor can that be linked to a weight system (being different based on loadout). 10. view restriction for gasmasks: there is a video tpm posted where you can see this view restriction when gasmasks are on for your 3/6/12 suggestions, those need to be fixed by BIS in the first place.

    yes, you can use almost any type of image as reference in 3ds i work with PNGs. But most of the other files are good as well, and matters little. And yes, you can use whatever image you feel like, such a pictures, etc, if those suitable for your work. Yes, i do By maps, i guess you mean Islands...as in terrain..check this very subforum, as well as biki for more info. No one will ever hand you all the info on a plate though
  12. where do you get your models from? FPSbanana? I don't wanna sound rude or anything, but while i do understand the need and especially request for more weapons in A2, that AK for instance...well, it's a bit on the wrong side...

    there is none. Use texview and convert your file to TGA, then use gimp or whatever to edit the file. Same process backwards to get your file tp .paa

    DIRT 2 - DX9 vs DX11

    as madmatt said, the only new thing about dx11 is RT tesselation. That can change the LODs (of A2 for instance) to 1 average poly model. The transition between will be smoth opposed to LOD switching for instance.. Everything else besides that....M$ shit as burns put it dunno if this has been shown around here before

    dude...this is no NEWs as in title thread... Multicore is already supported by A2 (opposed to A1)... They have just taken their time to put it down in BIS blog. It's not gonna happen in no miraculous patch, is it already in from version 1.0.

  18. well, if anyone starts a mod like IMW about now, your best bet would that OA is released before the mod is.... Plus, since OA will be featuring exactly what a Iraq mod would, then why bother?

    looking forward to seeing a big ass island released. I would suggest, besides the towns you got there, to create some Sahrani style military encampments (there are none in A2 islands afaik)..well, and at least 1 airport :P

    There is one for grass, server side setting, or mission specific, so that everyone has the same chances: setTerrainGrid There is also one for View Distance: setViewDistance If the mission designer chooses to have such option changeable for each client (like in most of Coop games), it is not BIS fault. Shadows on the other hand, due to how it affects performance, cannot be forced on clients by server settings
  21. You are talking about a patch (8. Computer Science A piece of code added to software in order to fix a bug, especially as a temporary correction between two releases.) in the first case. And besides, the only person who managed to do the Javelin Interface properly was Vigilante... That said, no one ever mentioned there is gonna be a new interface for the javelin in ACE, isn't it?
