    Re-uploading mods on the workshop

yes. most of the times the said "fixes" can be done without even touching the original files, as external configs, as external textures etc, which is also called "implementing fix" so then i actually wonder why the hell people go in and rummage through someone's else things, instead of keeping it separate...
  2. someone changed my "rank" from my well earned "poly bully" back to the default "lieutenant colonel"...can i have it back please?

as long as these fixes are separate, as in separate configs, textures, whatever, without touching the original files in any sort of form or extent, that is allowed yes. If the author is out of reach, then the default state for any sort of permissions to directly modify his work (as change his files then repack and re-release) is "denied".
  4. yes i did that before your reply, it does fix that error indeed, but the viewer (after updated buldozer.exe) crashes each time, so i had to revert to an older exe file anyways....
  5. what is this error about? i have copy pasted the dlls from A3 install directory to my dll folder on P drive, same error happening. Also, if i want to use either of the current stable .exes (be it 32 or 64 bit) as buldozer instead of the current one, it crashes each time. Also, last time i had to go through the process of installing buldozer from the project drive management option, things went tits up and i had to manually repair it. Can someone please develop on the steps that needs to be taken for manually solving this? @Tom_48_97 ☠ https://gyazo.com/3dd7c46b5a8e451999516dd1f79323ef
  6. there is no such thing as supershader.fx (made public) so don't even bother searching
  7. rvmats are actually pretty easy to set once you understand how these work: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Super_shader model.cfg is a bit more complicated to grasp, but having a look over existing ones might make things easier: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Model_Config if anything, A3 modding is not really noob friendly, but the information is available. I also do recommend you join A3 discord channels
  8. i personally export it as .fbx or as .bitxt file format, depending on what i am personally working on (if it requires more than a single UV set - structures need a minimum of 2 - i use .bitxt script exporter. same for stuff that requires vertices weights to be kept). I know others that export only as .3ds or .obj files, which i actually tend to stay away from as much as possible
  9. I personally use the bitxt exporter over other options available for import in o2, mainly because fbx imported is bugged if you have more than a single UV set, OBJ imports shit inverted, and .3ds is a file that doesn't actually support animations. I export each individual lod separately. You will find the .mcr script under \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Arma 3 Samples\Addons\Test_Character_01\VM_s-P3D_Export.mcr As i said, the author of the toolbox stopped his work on it. You either try using it as it is with no additional support (which should work, but it isn't actually a 100% finished product), but do expect issues with it since it was developed for A2 and older max versions. Or use .fbx or the bitxt exporter
  10. 1. the web is full of tutorial for game asset creation for whatever software you choose to use, be it max, maya, modo, blender etc google is your friend 2. there is an entire custom wikipedia page full of information about how to setup you 3d models 3. there are samples released together with the tools for A3, and also there is the entire library for A2 made public so you can study these and see how things are set-up. all that info is public and readily available 4. is it up to each individual if they wanna make tutorials or not. I for one choose to spend my time modding rather than making tuts... there isn't one afaik. i use 3ds max as my primary modelling software package for well over a decade, so yeah... There isn't a single button click - make p3d for max, no (or not anymore anyways). That said, what most of us do is export each individual lod separately from max and import these individually in O2.

    Escape from Tarkov

yep, as expected, the current Alpha stage is alpha in terms of performance (fps dips, freezez etc), and the gameplay is meah to say the least...the main point being to run around and grab gear and loot some boxes and dead bodies...that with a knife at best, and against weird AIs and also buffed up players. combine that with the "alpha" stage and your have a recipe for frustration... not sure what is suppose to be the end-game with this one, but the PVE part doesn't allow you to extract gear, and the PVP+PVE "raids" are as fun as cutting your own leg, one toe at a time...

yeah well, the "you" in my reply was more of a generic "you" than a direct one (as in you road runner)

    Re-uploading mods on the workshop

i have yet to see a single account being suspended by valve for uploading shit they don't own on SW, be it for Arma or something else but BI is not omnipresent...i am not saying that they are not helping, dwarden did help quite a bit by slamming the ones that needed to, but he always had to be pointed into the right direction, which is precisely what i have always done, together with DMCAs Valve doesn't and they shouldn't even care. For a DMCA, valve required me to provide proof of ownership for the contend that i reported. Did that a single time, the rest of the times it was taken down without having any sort of email communication with them. I am sorry, but by not reading the EULA, or the law, or the whatever, it doesn't actually mean it will not apply to you... nope, the general public couldn't care less, but to be honest i personally care even less about what the general population cares about. Some authors choose not to enforce their IPs, some choose to do just that. They are all withing their rights to do so. I have never policed anything that i don't have an IP rights for. Sure, i did contact people i knew they own it if i found it by mistake, but never went full troll mode to search everyone that side-stepped, maybe because over 70% of the content on SW is re-uploads, or "collections" for various communities. I also know of not a single soul that went out to check everything out. I am pretty sure BI didn't do it either all by themselves, much rather got reports from various sources about it. yes and, do you happen to know that the current SW sweap was random and partisan to some addons over others? well, again you as a addon maker can choose to do whatever you feel like with your addons, just as i can choose to use the ban hammer on the offenders (be it the poor sods who are making real money out of it, or the noobs that consider SW "convenient" because they can't be arsed to read the agreements, or because "noob friends". this is just your own supposition. Just because you haven't seen BI slamming addons so far it doesn't mean it didn't happen. And believe me, it always happened. Maybe in the mean time, some other also woke up and actually started to contact both BI and Valve about the ongoing theft.... i really doubt there is such a person, especially since there are ways to do it without manually searching each entry

    Re-uploading mods on the workshop

even if the mod is NOT on the workshop, there is a real fucking reason why it isn't there in the first place. short version: if the mod you are about to upload wasn't done by yourself, then don't upload it, no matter of the reasons such as "convenience" or "my friends are noobs". are you for real, or just playing the retard card? no one from BI removed jack shit from your PC...BI removed content from SW, that content (or the lack of) was synced with your PC and that resulted in its removal. That is precisely how SW works, and the simple fact that you actually managed to word it in writting that you don't care if the removal was justified or not makes you the biggest self-entitled prick i have seen in a while.

    Tier 1 Gear Pack

in general terms, unless you actually own the original IP for all content (or unless the original IP owner has shared their IP rights directly with you), you cannot upload it to Steam... unrelated to this particular thread, but the amount of unwarranted uploads and stolen IP on steam is mind boggling, so i do applaud the clean-up

i don't want to drag this further, but the above does indeed sounds like any other request... which is precisely what i said you are more than welcome to do.

    RHS Escalation (AFRF and USAF)

this sounds like a request, and you already know what is the answer for all requests. That being said, just like other mods that are based of RHS, feel free to create your own configs and custom content to define and complete whatever period of time your heart desires.

    _dt map too strong

    from here: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Super_shader 2. Detail map Detail map of type _DT. Detail maps add to diffusion map inside one stage another repeating texture to reach greater fineness for close view onto big surfaces which would too complicated to cover with oversized texture resolution. WARNING: DetailTexture (_DT) has painting saved inside alpha-channel (RGB components are ignored while this texture is converted from TGA to PAA). Because shader in a way multiplying detail texture with colored diffusion component, it is necessary that average color of detail texture should be 50% grey. Otherwise if material with detail texture is cutoff inside lower LOD then it may result into visible change of texture brightness (MipMapping is applied with distance and angle). texture="#(argb,8,8,3)color(0.5,0.5,0.5,0)";
  22. ....that you shouldn't post links towards websites that have ripped content. As with everything, the "free" 3d models are either shit, or ripped. There are some exceptions here of course, but not on that website. model takes time, times is money, so model cost money...as simple as that. you should also not use 24p letters
